Donation Drive 2013 Final(ish) Update

Section:

Well, you people really did it this time. 810 backers, $30,025 is the official total plus a few checks trickling in. I think we've said 'thank you' about a thousand times now so please accept as gratitude a promise that we're going to make it worth your while in the coming year.

Special thanks to Kate Craig, Scott Benson, Graham Rowat and Kevin Kulp for lending their time (past and future) and all the GWJ staff for helping make this drive a success. Elysium and I do what we can but the site really doesn't happen without your fine efforts.

This weekend donors will start receiving emails with links to download art and plans for getting on with their special donor perks.

After the jump a final list of our donors. I say final but what I really mean is I'll probably update this list a few times as people let us know they're missing. If you should be on here, make sure you email elysium your paypal and forum info so we can add you on!

The donation drive is run by people above my pay grade (not that we have pay grades), but I wanted to throw in my gratitude, too. No matter how much I seem to point the Front Page's nose into the ground, you folks seem to keep coming back and supporting GWJ.

What I'm saying is: Thank you for supporting me in my destructive habit.

Woo! Good job everyone! Butt pats all round!

At this point I'm supporting the site out of pure curiosity. It's the only publication that Julian has written for that has survived the experience. Sparkle Ponies didn't make it break stride. Now we're throwing a Julian-based Pigeon-sex article at it to see what happens. I want to see how long we can keep this going. It's science!

Congrats guys!

Also sent Elysium my receipt as a contributor as I accidentally got left off. Or is this your way of giving me the silent Office Space treatment?

I'm not on the list yet, and will resend my email.

I'm really happy with how much we were able to put together. I would be curious to know what percentage of the active community submitted a donation. I looked at it like a subscription service and compared the value of entertainment I get from here to say Netflix/XBL and tried to donate accordingly.

Spoiler:

If the powers that be are looking up my donation value to confirm my reasoning, I donated twice after comparing my initial donation to other subscription services.

Wow? That's what my $10 gets me? Or was it $15? I forget. What I remember though is enjoying stranger's hands on me bum-bum.

Great!

Great Job Everybody!!!

Next year we need...achievements!!!

My hypothesis is that Julian's publication-killing powers only extend to for-profit enterprises.

I resent my email as I'm not listed either.

Well, it's not your email's fault. You should clearly resent Elysium instead.

Congrats on a great drive, guys. Gonna be a high bar to clear, next year.

Next year is when Elysium playing and reviewing the most J of all JRPGs will be a goal.

Hyperdimension Neptunia gets my vote.

Real life laughs on this end of the internet.

Thanks gang. You make the internet worth the trouble.

Looked at my profile today... 7 years.

7 years ago I started into this place. Changed my life. You all are my favorites.

Not Ar Tonelico?

Has the new icon been spotted yet?

You people are truly wicked.

My vote is for Eternal Sonata.

Any donation drive that results in more pigeons hooking up more often is a win in my book.

My hypothesis is that Julian's publication-killing powers only extend to for-profit enterprises.

Or the flip: Julian kills by sapping the profit potential from publications, so publications that don't seek to profit are inherently immune.

For those of us that got the two files of artwork ($25 and above I believe), is there a recommended size for having them printed on posters? I'm not familiar with scaling and dimensions for these type of things. I can upload a file to a printer and they just want to know the size I want. Any suggestions?

Been a member for seven years. Graduated last month. I'm now officially a Gamer with a Job!

So what's that icon look like.

edit:

And still an office line backer.

So who wants to suggest a game for the podcast crew to play and review?

What's that game where everyone grabs an iPad/laptop and they pretend they're officers on a starship?

We can even add cheap After Effects explosions after!

Artemis

Excited for the Gamers with Jobscast and the second issue of the GWJ Magazine!

edit: I will miss the WeinerBomb forum icon, but the Car is pretty excellent too!

I am looking forward to discussions about my custom icon.
