We've already talked about how the game is going to be budget priced at $19.99, but word on the street is that if you go in to Gamestop next week and pre-order, you'll get a demo disc. Play through the demo disc, and you'll generate a save game file for the FULL game which will give you a weapon not available anywhere else.
Sounds like a solid deal if you plan on buying the game anyway.
Neat! I may pick this one up, although I don't know if EBGames in Canada will carry it. Usually hit or miss.
I have to preorder it now. I'm a sucker for in-game extra stuff like that.
Man, if only I could find a way to make my PSP memory card interface with my computer so I could simply download the file without having to mess with the demo.
Oh, wait, I know! I'll do that!

Yeah, that's certainly as much fun as playing a demo while waiting for the release.
It's more fun than having to deal with EB...
I've been calling my local EB every few days and they always say they don't have it in yet.

welll.... *Cough*download*Cough*
From what I'm seeing, the demo that has been released on, as you call it, the "seedier side of the intranets" is actually an iso of the Gamestop demo disc, thus, it will only work for those of you who have custom firmware. Those of us who choose not to do that are screwed unless we actually preorder the game to get the disc.
Anyone want to start a swap around for the battery/mem card combo to do CFW?
I think I'll just wait for Gamestop to get it in. I don't want to dick around with homebrew stuff, and there's a really good burger place right by that Gamestop. Mmmm... burgers.

Yeah, they often miss these things because they're too busy killing puppies in the back. Or so I'm told...
The GameStop/Eb stores around here are full of mindless drones who have no information on anything. You can ask them about bonus items but heaven forbid they know anything or look it up in their directory. I tried downloading the demo but it gets stuck on the loading screen (as if that makes sense). I really want to try this out too. *sigh*
As for the ripped demo... not sure what happened there. Did you put it in the ISO folder?
Downloaded the only Patapon demo on the interwebs. It's a cso file and when I placed it in the ISO folder, it loaded perfectly fine. All the publisher and developer names show up. But when it's time for the game to start, it just hangs on the "now loading" screen. The PSP isn't frozen but nothing happens. I assume the problem is that it's a cso file. My ISOs work fine.
Thank you so much Matt. BTW, I just found the ISO version. Someone actually uploaded the same exact file in CSO format and I didn't realize the first torrent contained the original ISO within a RAR file.
Doesn't matter now though. The ISO is giving me the exact same problem so I give up. I'll have to find a hard copy.
??
again, did you try the UMD thing? this makes no sense... :(
UMD... Different UMDs... No UMD... Same problem. My firmware is 3.90 M33 so it should be compatible. I even left it alone for a few minutes but it never loaded. I'm honestly stumped.
Sorry, didn't mean to take the thread off topic.
Must be a firmware issue. I'm on 3.72 and the .cso works fine. I preordered the game before the anounced the demo availability, which is just dumb anyway. With the Playstation store live now, there's really no excuse for them not to offer a downloadable demo of this game.
Pretty awesome game though. Took me forever to get the rhythm down at first. Love the style.
It is definitely a firmware issue. I couldn't get Patapon to work until I upgraded past 3.71.
Has to be a bug in the firmware. There's no other explanation. I'm going to take this discussion to the firmware thread because I've discovered other problems.
Loved the demo. Played it thrice. Stopped when I realized I was harvesting Ka-Ching from the hunt-level just to afford to replace ALL my underlings with the nifty upgraded versions.
I HATE that Ka-Ching and other items fade and disappear if you don't get to it within two or three moves. I've had several spears go bye-bye because the wretched opponent had the bad manners to drop them behind other enemies!
Kinda wish you could replay the attack missions, because item drops seem to be few and far between.
Yeah, and you can't shake new weapons out of that stupid tree. Bon bon bobon!
I beat it too and I can see why some people might have problems with it. Charming though it may be, it can be hard to keep the rhythm, particularly since when you get a good string of combos going and enter FEVER!!!!!1 mode, everyone shouts and it kind of drowns out the beat, though you're still expected to keep it. Also... DON'T STAND THERE DANCING, STAB THE STUPID BIRD! GAH! IT GOT AWAY! WHY WERE YOU DANCING!?
