Good grief! Will you look at this list!? At first glance it looks dire, but if you get off the AAA bandwagon, there there are couple interesting points.

Talisman Digital Edition, by Nomad Games is a nostalgic choice for me. The board game was one of my first experiences in deeper boardgames, and it was also the first game I ever won a tournament in. So being able to play this online with friends is a shoe-in for me. This release offers several platform options. There are iPad and Android mobile editions coming soon, and a single-player version called Talisman Prologue is available now. The Steam-based multi-player PC version goes into early access this week, with the full launch coming on November 13th.

My nostalgeurism aside, this week I'm going to give the laurels to critical darling The Stanley Parable. It's a game based on the Source mod of the same name, released in 2011. This full release brings new content, graphics, and in-game voice. The demo confused me and piqued my interest at the same time. From what I can get out of the promo materials out there, that was the point. It will be available on Steam on Thursday, the 17th.

Safe to say my walet gets a break this week.

Not a bad week for the PC indie crowd!

Indeed! And the list doesn't even include the unannounced game releasing tomorrow from a certain Fine developer!

The Deponia games are definitely the weakest of Daedelic's work but I feel like I should finish the series. The second one WAS a big improvement over the first, so you never know.

All over The Stanley Parable though, after "that" Demo

Goodbye Deponia, perhaps, for me. Otherwise, nothing of interest, really.

Frankly, after the brilliance that was Memoria, I'm willing to give Daedelic 5 or 6 extra shots at getting Deponia right because I know they can.

To the rest of you: GO BUY MEMORIA NOW.

I'll get Deponia at some point; still need to finish the first two games, though.

I'm actually interested in "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?." It was always a good solo trivia format. I wonder if it will provide a score-chasing aspect?

Y'all will like Space Rangers. YES. YOU WILL.

Roosevelt day one DLC? Should've been on the disc. NO SALE, CABELA.

The Wolf Among Us for PS3 will be my purchase this week. I loved The Walking Dead game and I love Fables comics AND the reviews have been good. Can't wait!

I already have more awesome games to play than I can shake a stick at, but I loved both the original Stanley Parable mod and watching the demo.

Played it last week on XBL. You won't be disappointed!

I giggled with glee during dinner last night when I read about Talisman Digital. Seems like it would be a better fit on the iPad so I'll give it some time to arrive there.

Crossposting from the Catch-All:

Heads up if you are planning on getting The Wolf Among Us for the PS3. The store update does not have the season pass, which is apparently going up on Friday. The season pass will be all 5 episodes for $20, as opposed to $5 per episode. I'm waiting until I can buy the season pass, so I don't buy Episode 1 twice.

No love for the mega release of Skylanders Swap Force earlier this week on the 15th? It will be my 6 year old's obsession for the next year. I've already spent more than the cost of an Xbox One on the damn game, and that was with the BOGO 40% off deal at Toys R Us.

There are a bunch.... I mean A BUNCH of Talisman Online updates planned !
I have my first edition boardgame, + 2 expansions, + Dungeon and Timescape sitting on my wardrobe. I love the game, and must have had +100 games as a kid.
There was a question in the GWJ podcast 153 (listening to now !) about broken characters.
From my perspective of the first edition, the Troll wasn't broken because a couple of "Craft" battles could wipe him out really early.
The most powerful from my memory were the Thief (steal the Staff of mastery) and the Necromancer.
Anyone that would take their own rapidly increasing stats and add a high powered mob's power to it were always really difficult to beat.
We used to insist on random character draws. Everyone got 3 character cards dealt at start and at re-spawn, and could choose which they wanted to play from them.
Damn .. I want a game now !
