July 15 – July 19

The Week Ahead has been on a brief hiatus, but after the eager questions and concerns of literally ones of you, returns strong.

I may not have learned much over the past few years, but I have learned that when I see the name Shin Megami Tensei somewhere in the list of releases, I need to stop and pay attention. Released in Japan earlier this year, Shin Megami Tensei IV is already the critical darling of the week with a bevy of glowing reviews across the spectrum. Praised for its story, its grand scope, its environments and, well, just about everything, I would clearly be remiss not to recognize SMT IV for the 3DS as the game of the week.

Also this week Dynasty Warriors 8 hits the Xbox and PlayStation for your beat 'em up pleasure. Meanwhile the annual Steam Summer Sale is in full swing with just an endless array of amazing deals. I love the summer sale for a lot of reasons, but not the least of which is that it brings out the best in our community with people gifting one another great games left and right. I, myself, have Yew, Whoisdialogue and Garden Ninja to thank for three awesome new games in my library. If you haven't checked out the activity in our Summer Sale thread, I recommend you join in the fun.

Comments

Turbo: Super Stunt Squad was robbed! You promised!

SMT IV, if I ever get a 3DS... otherwise, Fallen World looks fun.

It lives!

If Shin Megami Tensei IV takes me as long to beat as Strange Journey, I look forward to finishing it sometime next October.

Face Noir? ... Face Noir? ... Face Noir!

Yeah. I, too, found the title, well, odd to say the least.

I don't know whether to avoid it for having that name or to investigate it.

Is this the minstrel show game I've been waiting for?

This week is going to make me very, very broke...

Dynasty Warriors 8 for me.

I'm excited for Dynasty Warriors, although I haven't played a game in this series since DW5, and that was briefly before I sold my old PS2. I know it will be more of the same, but let's be honest - we fans don't care.

It's pronounced Facé , dammit.

You mean the movie tie-in game RIPD isn't good?

Alien Spidy is finally out! yay! Although I spent my psn money on muramasa.
