Team Fortress 2 Catch All

I'm busy for another 3 weeks or so. Might be able to get a game or two in. Once this semester ends and I visit my parents for Christmas I'll have a whole week of gaming goodness.

I hopped on awhile ago and within a few minutes 3 others joined. Some good 2v2 action for awhile but I kept hoping more would join. I'll check back later tonight. ;)

I would have been on, except the US premier of The Hogfather was tonight.

played somne . was having fun...and then the laptop overheated. thanks for the games.

Was in there with a buddy playin 1 on 1....then seeing us in there a 3rd came..which should be a message to everyone that "Water's good - jump in the pool!"

We got as far as 3 on 3....and there were some fun games in there

/And it'l get better after people have gotten through their pile of game backlog

I'll just echo what MilkmanDan said. I got on last night seeing a grand total of TWO people on the server. We did some 2v1 (fear my turret!) until, as we hoped, others noticed there were a few people on the server and gradually started to fill in some spots.

I think we eventually got up to 4v4, which is a pretty different vibe than 12v12 or what have you, but still quite a lot of fun. I'm still learning the maps and how to play the classes myself, so it was nice to remain alive for more than 30 seconds or so per spawn.

FYI - I plan on playing with friends, some of whom are lurkers here, every Tuesday between about 7:30 and 9:30 EST. I don't really want to push it to "event" status, since it's mostly informal, but if I see other people playing TF2 I'll try to round us up to Stans - so if you're planning on playing some TF2 this week, Tuesday might be a good bet.

How to play the spy. Lots of good tips and tricks there.

I wholeheartedly support Dysplastic's non-event event. I've been waiting to play TF2 with the folks here, but the servers are aways empty.

Yay for Splinter Cell music.

Thanks for that video Nossid. I enjoy playing spy, I'm just not very good at it yet.

That video is great.
Now everyone knows that demo is the easiest class to disguise as........and to avoid pyros like the plague.

against Goodjers pyro is the easiest class to disguise as. Not only are there a large number of them they also tend to be less suspect not pushing forward due to them hunting for spies.

It's a very good video that needs to keep the text on the screen for at least another full second each time new text appears. I'm hardly a slow reader and I regularly had to pause and go back. Rewinding on YouTube is a pain.

Demoman is generally a good disguise but I hate reducing my movement speed as a spy. One of the most frustrating experiences playing a spy is having a free shot at an engineer's back as they're running towards the front but not being able to catch up with them to deliver the coup de grace.

One of the key things he pointed out and worth mentioning again is the spy's ability to drastically shift momentum. He can quickly take down 2-3 enemies, including heavy-medic combos and entrenched engineers. It can be fun to do that over and over to rack up points, but the real benefit comes from creating an opening that the rest of your team can exploit.

The spy is the instrument that creates the opening, not the assault class.

If you disguise pyro on the annex, when you do end up running into another pyro, they become suspicious because you aren't spamming your flamethrower. In short, Distantsound give us more hints.

He covered all the tricks I know. Some small ones are use your gun on sapped sentries if the eng is casing you. The sentries die faster. Try to engage a group of enemies when they are fighting. There are a few tricks to spotting spies but I refuse to say what they are. =)

Best way is to play a spy yourself for awhile and then you'll get an idea on what to look for.

That video was great. I might retire Sasha for a little bit and start burying knives in peoples' backs.

Are we gonna have a game tonight? I'm dieing to play some TF2. Its been over a week since I played. My rocket launcher and knife have gotten rusty.

It may just be me practicing my rocket jumping, but I plan to be on tonight on Parallel's server.

Lets do it.

I have yet to be able to find Parallel's server.... I will look for it tonight.

Look up the IP address to find it without having to search the server lists. If you don't know: Go to favorites and click "Add server," simply input the IP address (8.9.30.204:27015, I believe) there.

Note that the password for Parallel's server is "goodjer2", with an extra numeral for some reason.

I'm hoping to get back into TF2, I've finished everything else I've been playing and finally got my box running well after the upgrade. Still, time will be sparse. It may be a good idea to set a weekly TF2 event. Having a day to shoot for may draw a critical mass back on to the server.

I'm worried that with an event we may draw more than a server...
and thats why we have two. I'm on board then.

I humbly suggest Tuesdays!

Tuesday it is then?

Servers are still empty.

Maybe tonight after heroes we'll get a crowd.
