Wii sound off and impressions.

I feel like this thread is becoming a Haterade thread. Hasn't the Wii library (or lack thereof) been discussed to death? I think the general consensus is that some people will enjoy it as a secondary console, and some people will have no use for it, and if you don't like it, you should sell it, and that's fine.

Thanks for the suggestions, Zalo and Ulairi. Cooperative multiplayer Trauma Center sounds fantastic, and a motorcycle version of Excite Truck is a must-rent, at the least. It's strange how little promotion has been done for the Wii lineup; I pore endlessly over all the gaming news and both of them had flown completely under my radar. Even looking them up online revealed little.

Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles will also apparently offer a full co-op mode, which could be a blast if the game's decent.

We'll still have to see if we find room in the budget for a 360, as there are still numerous itches which the Wii library doesn't scratch and I have no plans to upgrade the indie/casual game strongholds that are our PCs.

You saying this thread has run its course?

The problem is, if someone comes on and says "I'm jonesing for a Wii, what do you think?" what are those of us who have one supposed to say? Nothing? This happens with games all the time. I'll ask Danjo or Zero or someone if they think X game is worth getting. Or if it's worth getting X system for this game. I get good advice. I like to return the favor and be honest.

I think that's because the hardcore enthusiast press to a large degree holds the Wii as a "lesser" console, it's current gen consoles and the Wii. If you want to find out about Wii games, I'd suggest getting Nintendo power. They do good previews and then you'd know what is coming out.

Just to toss another opinion out there, I play the Wii regularly and the $400 Lumines machine called a 360 has been unhooked for two months. Anyone trying to decide on whether to get a new system might strongly look at what sorts of games they like to play before making a decision :)

We play with the Wii pretty much every day. Sports, Play and Brain Academy haven't lost their luster for us yet and when you add friends and family into the equation, it just gets better. The Wii's perfect as an party machine. Loving it after three months, and I'm really looking forward to Madden and FIFA 08 in the next six weeks. With MP 3 and Super Smash Brothers coming as well, I think we will keep loving it.

Haters.

Yep I play it regularly too. Fun machine. I recommend most of the Nintendo software.

It's too bad some folks can't seem to enjoy it.

Wouldn't Serious Dog be better if it was Sirius Dog?

Could be that I'm just a geek...

I've added everyone that had their friends code for the Wii in their profile, So everyone should add me as well

So, any more news on a possible HD Wii? I would hate to buy one later this year and then see Nintendo announce a HD version in January.

I sincerely doubt Nintendo will update the hardware any time soon. It wouldn't make sense with hardware sales still going so strong.

You are probably right but I was just hopeful. I just need to buy one tomorrow and get RE4 (never played it), Zelda TP, and Metroid Prime 3 from Gamefly.

N'Gai Croal's interview with Iwata.

Apparently the Wii is losing MP3 support...

I never used it, but it's not cool anyway, why remove features?

That's awesome, one of the many formats I don't use! Thanks Nintendo!

I finally unboxed my Wii and connected it... my friend brought his two small children over and they had never played a Wii. Needless to say they both had a blast.. afterwards I finally played some Metriod and it was... ok.. its no Bioshock thats for sure.

I didn't know it did that. I hope they don't screw with the web browser feature in one of these updates/redos. I've used that feature more frequently than I would have expected.

Please, fellow citizens. Go to the Everybody Votes channel immediately. The most recent question is the one I submitted. I know we live in a divided nation right now, but whether the majority of society prefers salty or sweet snacks is a pressing concern that I need to know what side you are on. Think of the children!

In canada we got this question last week. If you want i'll post the result here, it may help you in you're search for the truth.

I hope there's a "It depends on what mood I'm in" button. I don't think I could choose one over the other, for even a majority of the time.

We've got a Wii in our break room at work...needless to say it gets enough use, some feel it was a waste.

Salty. Duh.
