WoW - good pre-Kara Hunter gear links?

The thread title probably speaks for itself, but Sigsbee is 67.5 right now and would like to try Kara when she gets to 70; are there any good guides for what gear she should aim for out of quests, BoEs, and instance drops?

For example, this is the definitive (or closest to it) pre-Kara Prot Pally gear thread. I'd like to find something similar for Hunters. What I do know is that 2 pieces of Dungeon Set 3 drop in Steamvaults, so that's an obvious place to hit a few times. Other than knowing that, I'd love a guide. =D

BTW she is Beast Mastery.

Thanks!

NICE...a fellow beast master. There are many resources out there as far as gear goes, but I suggest reading..and reading again..the info on bigredkitty. The info and question/answer area is second to none on beastmasters. He got me to re-spec to beast, and outdamage the mark spec'ed hunters in Kara.

Gear wise......LW'ers can make a very nice set in Felstalkers for pre-70's and also the D3 (Beast Lord) set is nice for the set bonus's. Plus, just quest rewards leveling up offer a very nice mix of gear high on Stam, Agi, and attack power..the bread and butter for BS spec. Just remember, your pet share's all of your attributes with you and get 35% of your numbers (stam, agi,RAP).

oops..sorry

For me, the Don Santo's Hunting Rifle helped alot. There is a gun that engineers make that works well for the hunter. Bottom line, Crazy or Troll may know more about the ranged weapon which Sigsbee needs, but get one. The Don Santo's cost a bunch from the AH.

Yes to the beastlord armor, and it is fairly accessible via the instances.

As to build, I studied the different hunters who are members of Transcended Guild and modeled myself pretty much after Dens.

I am the biggest BRK fan out there - Sigs has been using his build for months (though she's just 67 so far). I've never seen him link to a list like the one I've used, though.

He does have a guide to the best BoEs for 70 hunters that was on WoWInsider, but I'd like to know what's in instances as well, and quests. Once I hit 70, the only quests I did were ones that gave me upgrades.

I suppose there might not be such lists for hunters since there are many more viable combinations of gear than for Prot Pallies.

For now I guess we'll run everything once and do repeated trips to SV. Obviously the spear drops in SLabs, but who wants to run that over and over? XD

Thanks for the input, keep it coming if you think of anything!

Would be a good idea. I plan to have Logan sit in for me when I am on my honeymoon.

Until recently, I was using the The Armory. Just select the "find an upgrade" arrow off the item you want to improve, and WoW tells you everything it thinks is an upagrade. It's good, but falible.

Then, in one of the "best sites" threads, someone turned me onto Kaliban's Class Gear. In my opinion, it is much more user-friendly than The Armory. Just select the options on the left of the screen that apply (which stats do you find important, in what order, and where do you want to find the items), and see all that WoW has to offer. This link is set for hunters, but Kaliban covers all the classes.

Finally, when you narrow your choices down to a couple items, use the Hunter DPS Calculator to compare the benefits of each item for you.

I have used this in the past to compare item sets and quest rewards and it breaks it down my build. Even though with hunters there is really gear-wise not much difference between the 3 builds. The increase in INT is more important with MM hunters while BS hunters use STAM alot more.

www.ampwow.com

search the item class listings and breaks down by build.

Ha! I am finally reading the forums when I get a chance. Thanks for the info and I will try to look into those websites soon. Although I know Az/Fed has probably already read them all for me. He's so good!

This may be way out there, but how is the pvp season 2 gear (veterans) for hunters? Im a big fan of it as a holy pally, and I didnt find the BGs too hard to grind. You might want to start doing a few here and there , to try to work up enough to grab it when you hit 70.

GOOD STUFF.....i use the boots. ring, and neck for my raiding set now. Very high stam along with RAP,crit, and agi makes the gear worth working for. It will take a bit of time to get enough honor points together to earn the rewards, but works well between instance running, farming for mats, and oops..forgot only 24 hours in the day.

stupid question, but do Hunters have to skill up melee weapons to get the stat bonuses for ranged attacks? No, right?

I ask cause I bought Sigsbee a Crystalforged Axe today.

Thanks!

You are correct, she'll just miss a lot while in melee for a while until her skill gets up to a decent level.

dratted double-post; thanks for the fast response, Luna!

I swear no one ever actually hears me...

Don't worry, he double posts his signature too.

Az, to skill up melee weapons from 0 I usually will head to like Uther's Tomb area in WPL, the mobs there are 50ish so you can get up over 225 quickly and they don't hit very hard. After that, go to like the southeast Ogres in Nagrand, that will get you up over 325 pretty quickly. Just stand there swinging at a mob until it is dead. Use pots and trap and bandage as much as needed. If starting from 0 you'll get like 100 points from the first mob alone, but it will take a long time.

As a hunter, gear isn't overly important for kara (as opposed to most other classes). You can check out my armory (porsupuesto is the char. name....only one in all of wow I've run kara a bunch w/ the gear you see (through curator) and the only thing I have to show for it is the xbow lolz. Being that Attumen drops a lot of hunter stuff you should be able to gear up fairly easily. I would say make sure you've got dungeon blues. The beastlord set is great for the trap cooldowns, makes you mighty handy when you get to moroes. Just get the best bow you can afford (warden's arrows from Cenarion rep are why is say bow over gun) and try and get sonic spear for sure. I put savagery on mine, but wish i would've done +35 agil. Savagery is more for MM spec. Also, you might want to grab a scorpid from Shadowmoon Valley. The DOT they have is a great raid boost and their armored like crazy. (And yes, i realize i messed up w/ the meta gem in my helm lolz). As stated the veteran's stuff is fairly easy to get and will fill in holes for a looooong time while you proceed through the game.

Shot rotation is much more important then gear for Kara early on. Scorpid venom was fixed so the Dmg increase is gone. Better off with something that can use Gore as it provides better dps during boss fights then claw ever will. AGI, AGI, AGI everything needs Agi as it plays a huge factor in many aspects of a hunters ability.

Can anyone point Sigsbee in the direction of a scope?
