Guitar Hero 3 Announced

Did anyone else get the boob vibration bug? While I was playing "Hit me with your best shot" the guitarists boobs started to vibrate madly, this must be a bug because they very like jumping up and down 10 times/second. It seemed really wierd, if they don't fix this before it's released I'm expecting that we will see more about this on the internet.

I got to play Battle Mode with my roommate, and we were laughing our asses off the whole time. It's a minor change to the Face-Off formula, you both play at the same time, and instead of star power you earn "Dick With You" powerups that you send over to your buddy to screw him up. It's not much different that slapping the controller out of someone's hands while playing madden.

Is that laughing as in laughing because it's funny, or laughing at the game because it's just plain sh*t? Because I honestly can't imagine that it's fun when notes disappear etcetera.

No, it was fun. We were laughing because we were enjoying ourselves. I don't see myself putting hours into playing that mode, but it's a fun little diversion if you have a friend playing right next to you.

Overall though, the demo makes me quite comfortable in my decision to pick up this game at a later point in time and not on release. It's very competent and I enjoyed playing most of the songs on it (even though I couldn't really get into the Tenacious D tune), but you can definitely tell there's some Harmonix polish missing. That doesn't make it a worse game by any intents and purposes, just different.

I agree. The demo is so sparse it's hard to judge the overall game. The gameplay, I think, is completely intact, but the flavor of the game just seems more grungy (muted?) and less vibrant/colorful. Less personality, I guess. If I could only buy one of Rock Band/GH3, I'd definitely still stick with getting Rock Band.

Add me to the list. The quotes on the loading screen feel "off", and the game just doesn't feel as good as GH2. I'll still buy it though.

Is the loading screen really that important?

It's just one of the things that contribute to the feeling of the game. The loading screen text feels forced, like they wouldn't add that text if they would have made the first guitar hero, but now they have too because they don't want to alienate the Guitar Hero fanbase.

I figured it out. The final boss is the Grim Reaper.

They aren't important, really, but, like the Judy Nails Boobjob, it's about character, and how the two companies approach both. Harmonix made everything quirky and fun, good-naturedly lampooning Rock, the culture and its stereotypes.

QFT

I put a preorder in at Gamestop last week end they said they would be doing a midnight launch of the game on Saturday night (Sunday, October 28th). Seems like a strange date, but the 28th has always been the release date I've heard for it.

Anyone else heard this from their location? Really hope so as having all day Sunday to mess around with it would be great.

Yea is that the real release date? Why the weird date if that's for real?

Its definitely the real release date. Its been confirmed by a few sources. I'll try and find a link and edit later. But the stores near me are all telling their preorder customers that it will be in on Sunday.
I dont believe the stores near me are doing a midnight selling, but they'll be handing it over 10am the next morning.

Holy F*cking Sh*t! How on earth do you play that?!?

I've been ignoring this, but, I borrowed Danjo's GH2 setup and I'm hooked, 4Life. That being said I can now look at this link and think, whoozawhatthefuk?

You can get a hundred note streak in the first 15 seconds.

Looks like the demo is coming up to Live tomorrow. My wife and I are really excited about this. We are both big fans of GH2 and I think it's the only game right now that we both enjoy and have a great time together.

You tell me! Even though I've been playing GH2 since it came out for the 360, I never got past middle of Hard Mode. Actually I got a bit stuck on "Woman" and I basically went back to Medium difficult, where my wife and I have lots of fun and we can 5 star everything.

I think we just play the game for that feel of being a real guitar hero and we never bothered in improving our skills to progress at difficult levels, since we were having so much fun at Medium and preferred to stick with that instead of getting frustrated at higher difficult levels.

But I won't lie, I wish I could do stuff like that!

That's the first place I got stuck too. If you want to beat woman on hard, do all the tutorial (the advanced one contains hammer-ons and pull-offs, that's what you need to beat it). Pulling off hammer-ons and pull-offs are one of the most rewarding things in the game.

Though, if you still love the game playing on medium, don't bother with the advanced stuff and enjoy the experience. But if you ever get bored, you know what to do.

Woman, no pun intended, was always a Female Doggo for me. I could complete it on Hard, but it took much longer to get to the point where I could four star it. And it took forever for me to five-star it, something I did once, and never played the song again. Personally, I really don't think it belongs in the second tier of songs. I found it tougher than most of the tracks in the third and fourth tiers.

Yup that's all true. I only fivestarred it last week, I've been beating "the hard part" for a while but I always miss the pull-off in the main riff. Well, not anymore, but I used to.

"Woman" is where I just ran into a brick wall on Hard. I've 5 starred everything on medium (not bad for not having the game that long) and got through the other songs on Hard, but that one just kicked my butt. Of course, I haven't practiced it much either since I just got done 5 starring normal last week. Just in time for Guitar Hero 3 to come out.

Hammer-ons and pull-offs my friend, hammer-ons and pull-offs. Do the tutorials, they really help.

I actually know how hammer-ons and pull-offs work, its just that I can never get the timing right for them and most of the time, my fingers won't do what I want them to do!

Anyways, can't wait for GH3 and Rock Band.

One thing about pull-offs that makes them easier to do is that, for example, lets say your strumming red and pulling off to green. In the tutorial they make you hold down green and red first and then release the red fret, however, you don't need to hold down the green fret when you strum the red. Just push it down at the same time as you pull off the red fret.

And in GH3, the hammer-ons and pull-offs are much easier to do, so you've got something to look forward to =)

I find myself doing that without thinking about it when I play. That sometimes I KNOW I've missed a strum but the song keeps on trucking because I just naturally do the pulloffs.

The GH3 demo hits live tomorrow according to a post on Evil Avatar.

Huzzah!

The local Gamestop is having a midnight madness sale for this. It took a little convincing to finally convince myself that I don't have so little to do as to actually go.

You've got to buy GH2, I can tell already that GH3 won't "replace" that game. I'm with you, I think I'll be playing some form of guitar hero for a long, long time.

I want the Guitar from 3, so I'm planning on buying the GH3 package, and then going back and buying GH2 by itself.

Liongames has the release date set as the 26th. Is that wrong? Anyone have any idea when Tony's going to be able to ship them out?

You're going to want to play more GH3 for it's better soundtrack and online modes in the end though.

Yeah, I plan on having both in the end.
