Path of Shame: Trail of Tears

Here's the next set of goals for the Pile of Shame. This set of games is a little different from the past postings. With the holiday buying season upon us, and several good titles already out or about to drop, it just didn't make sense to try to get people to play older games. So, I've decided to put Clearing the Pile on hold until January 2008. In the interim, I'm posting some series or notably long games. I've left some consoles off of here, but I'd be happy to add them back in if someone can think of some games for them that fit the criteria.

Multi-Platform
Final Fantasy Remakes - Duoae, Mystic Violet, Farscry
Bioshock - Prederick

PC
Half-Life series - Dysplastic, jmdanny, Oso, momgamer
Sam & Max Season 1 - Dysplastic
Dawn of War and Expansions - Vrikk
Doom Series

Playstation 2
Sly Cooper Series
Jak and Daxter Series
Ratchet and Clank Series - subaltern
Final Fantasy X, X-2, XII - AnimeJ

Playstation
Final Fantasy VII, VIII, IX - Asz

Xbox
Halo Series - Nei, Zaphod

Yikes, that's a whole lot of FF! We've got until the end of of the year for these. Let's get to work!

Also, please update the Pile of Shame thread with new games or remove your name from the games you've finished. That way the list stays fresh and we can get some new titles.

I'm not even going to stake a claim yet. Let's see how the holidays pan out.

I don't have anything on those lists. Hm..

You know i was pulled into this thread thinking that a game with a really cool title had been announced and instead was greeted by this...

I'm going to try and wade through the Final Fantasy remakes on the DS.

Feel free to mark me down for FF8. We'll see if my PSP cooperates in playing it, i've heard numerous claims and counter-claims that FF8 refuses to work on PSP after certain points in the game.

Does Halo 3 count? Because I plan to finish that next.

My plan worked, muhahahahaha!

Updated the list. I moved the FF remakes from the DS to multi-platform. I forgot they were also coming out on the PSP too.

I'll take up the mantle of FF X, X-2 and XII. I've already finished X, and I'm almost through X-2 and something like halfway through XII.

I had a plan for Halo 3 launch... play through Halo and Halo 2 before starting Halo 3. Well, that didn't work out that well... just could not resist playing it. It's sad and funny, I just wanted to see the intro... and I just kept on going. I still plan on doing it though.

I'll take FFIII, FFV and FFVI. I also want to complete Castlevania: PoT since I'm at the end anyway. I gave up on Dracula for now and decided to go for 1000% completion because I'm insane.

I don't think the Trail of Tears would make for a very good game. Maybe that's just me.

I was imagining something like Oregon Trail, only with victory conditions similar to Defcon.

Path of Shame: Trail of Tears would be an awesome game! It would be the telling of the life of a young, though handsome man... doomed to forever walk his path alone, surrounded by friends and loved ones who were ultimately kept at a distance because of his dark secret....

He's actually Andrew Jackson?

FYI.

Edit: That's the wrong link, but I'm leaving it for added hilarity.

I'm still plugging away at FF3 DS like last month; Blue Dragon set me back a bit on that, as that's my other main title currently. That won't change much in the near future, though when I finish FF3 DS, I'm not sure what I'm popping into the portable next.

Can I request adding the two Dawn of War expansions to the list? I only beat the original game's campaign, and only completed the first Order mission in WA. If you could add both Order and Chaos for Winter Assault, as well as the Dark Crusade campaign then that would be great. I can get to hacking away at the Imperial Guard story again tonight.

Okay, i watched the video but i don't know AJ?

This didn't help either... i presume you didn't mean the nuclear capable submarine?

Haha, totally botched my cut + paste. This is what I meant to link:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trail_of_Tears

I needed that other link to make fun of Mex in a different thread.

Hehe, i knew you'd slip up sometime, Wordsmythe... we have come full circle: now i am the Neme-master and you are the guy that i'm trash-talking with ]:)

Also, that Indian relocation thing would make a great game... just think - alternate reality world with the Indians winning the war against the westerners... wielding powerful magics and scalping their victims.... You play Andrew Jayhawk - a half indian, half western child brought up by his indian mother after she was raped in a raid on their encampment.

Imagine battles like in LoTR (the movies) in which you take part...

Finally, you are persuaded or decide that the indian's complete domination of the Americas is leading to something darker and more sinister. The magics that your people wield turn out to be from dark gods and instead of fighting alongside your bretheren you learn the ways of your lost gods. They help you re-work history into the one that we know.... the deaths and loss of culture and land of your kind is on your head, your actions. You are Andrew Jackson - leader of the Americans and scourge of the Indians...

The title of this thread makes me very edgey. Its akin to naming something Path of Shame: Kristallnacht. OR at least akin to the feeling I'd get from that.

I'll try to tackle the Ratchet and Clank series. I've had the first game for months but have yet to play very far into it. It all depends on my time and money constraints.

I'm currently finishing Sam & Max Season 1 for my pile...
Afterwards, I think I need to finish HL1.

I still have to finish HL2: Episode One. I've started it like 3 or 4 times, but always stop somewhere around the middle. I won't touch Ep2 until I'm done with that one.

Sure, you can call my heritage evil. I'm assuming you're OK with the pirates, thieves, and vikings in my other bloodlines, then, though.

I'm going to have so much fun next time someone tries to order me to celebrate my heritage. I usually just respond with whiskey, vodka, tequila, rum, and a healthy amount of beer.

List has been updated.

Hmmm, I'm not going to go back to the original half life, but playing through the HL2 series is on my agenda. Might as well sign me up, even though I'm unlikely to finish. But isn't this what the pile o' shame is all about?

Since my PC has been down I have yet to finish Halo 2. Just got the new processor today, but will probably not have time to install and set everything back up until Thursday since my basment is currently being dried out after our hot water heater leaked all over.

I'm not calling anything evil? That was the parallel timeline/alternate history.

You forgot to mention the rape, pillage and brawling....

That's not "celebrating my heritage." That's "Thursday."

So in a parallel universe, identical belief structures of my people just happen to be more evil than eradication of hundreds of tribes and their cultures? Is that like the story qhere, in an alternate universe everything is the same except all Republicans have horns and tails?

Aw, you know I love you Duo. I'm just giving you a hard time.

And yes, I mean that last line in the viking sense.
