The 2012 GWJ Donation Drive Is Live!

Section:

It is once again time to open the site up for donations! In case you haven't been around for one of these before, the GWJ donation drive is a one month event in which we ask the community to kick in and help support the site. It keeps us lean, mean and free of annoying ads! As Sean mentioned in his post last week, this year will be different as we're setting aside the raffle in favor of a more Kickstarter-esque system that give everyone some cool stuff and lays out some of our hopes and dreams for the coming year.

For all the info, hit the donation drive page. Together we can continue building this community in a strong, positive direction!

Comments

This community has done so many wonderful things; for each other, for non-members, for people related to members. I've met a fair amount of goodjers and I've yet to meet a goodjer I didn't like. I've met some truly awesome people who have since become close friends of mine; people I'm proud to consider role models for my own kids.

So in addition to whatever greenbacks I can scrounge for this drive, I also want to say thanks. This place rocks!

Before I donate $200, I need to know if my golden wang icon idea will be approved. ;)

Spoiler:

No.

Shame that there's not an easy way to put in an amount in between the predefined levels.

There's an "Any Amount" button at the top of the list. Or do you mean something else?

Done. The $500 level is tempting, but I can't justify it this year.

Problem is, next year I'll have to get the wife to sign off on that large of a donation. Oh well.

Just to confirm, am I supposed to do a personal "send money" to [email protected]? When I click the "Donate" button it's just taking me to my main Paypal account page, it's not a pre-filled-in page with a recipient or anything.

Aha! Middle-click (open in new tab) in Chrome does not work.

Back in the day when I played Everquest. I got upset when they introduced the "Plane of Tranquility". Because it brought in a central hub that could pretty much teleport you to ANY major city in the game. I loved the run from Quenos to Freeport. It took 40 mins to an hr. But it felt suitable. But now all these MMOs have this quick travel options. I might just be old school, but I just dont care for it. I like being forced to explore new zones just to get from point A to Point B and beyond.

If one of the $250 people doesn't cause the podcast folks read the phrase "full of country goodness and green pea-ness", I will be very sad.

Needs a "Welcome Perverts!" stretch goal.

Sorely tempted to throw out $150 just to force Elysium to play all of The World Ends With You.

Or alternately to throw out $350 that I don't even have just to get on the podcast. Then Elysium and I can nerd out about mechanical keyboards and Starcraft 2 while everyone else suffers.

Either way... suffering guaranteed

Wait. I'm pretty sure you've met me.

Easy to like everyone when you selectively forget the ones you don't like

A couple questions about the $150 pledge:

Are board games allowed? Is there a master list of games that were previously covered in the podcast?

That was my thinking too! Although he already tried to play it once. I feel we need to up the ante if we're to inflict pain on him like that.

Is space an issue?

Thanks again guys, another wonderful year on the site, keep it going!

Wow, $4066 raised already? Sweet

Wow; I just want to say that $4000 in 7 hours since this thread was posted is awesome. I love this community and look forward to donating when I get off work. Just not sure how much yet.

It's not so much that I dislike Wordy, it's more that the trauma from repeated exposure has burned the experience from my mind. Wait. Who are we talking about again?

Hedge, please never mention Wordy and "repeated exposure" in the same sentence again.

I don't see why not, provided you can wait until the next rabbitcon for us to play it

I've added a $150 tier I forgot to include from our original plans. Check it out! One of my favorites.

Doneski. Keep on keepin on.

Hmmmm, that's tempting and might make for good radio! (I already chipped in, so I'll have to think about my choice)

Nice!

Unfortunately, I don't have any money right now.

Done.

Looking forward to the sparkle pony "let's play".

And donated! I look forward to my new icon!

Thanks for another great year guys.

I'm in.

...and done!

Money well spent.

Y'all dodged a bullet. If a slot were still open, I would have eaten rice and beans for a month to make everyone play and discuss Cinders at length. >:)

As it is, here's September's fun money with my thanks.

Disappointed only the West Coast of the US ever gets any love. Maybe E3 will come back to Atlanta one day.

$200 fun bucks pledged.

I discovered video gaming on my own but this site helped me integrate it successfully into my life.
