College Football 2007 Season Catch-All

Pages

Well, if it's Labor Day Weekend, it must be the opening of college football and we have our first stunner upset of the season. Unranked Appalachian State knocks off #5 Michigan in the Wolverines house, 34 to 32. Looks like Michigan's season is toast barely just as it begins.

I thought this was Canadian Football when first clicking.

Michigan losing is funny. A bunch of supposedly push-over games scheduled for the first day, serves them right.

Let's not forget that it was Division I-AA unranked Appalachian State. It's even funnier to us Badger fans.

Michigan looked better against Appalachian State then they did against USC. I think the off season really helped them.

A sad/delicious part to the story is how several of Michigan's star players returned for their senior year so that they could get a national championship. So they picked a humiliating defeat over millions of dollars, nice.

Allow me to insert the obligatory "Roll Tide!" and move along. That is all.

Dang it. Michigan was supposed to wait until next week to lay an egg.

Oregon struggled against Houston. I'm just hoping they were holding some stuff back for the trip to Ann Arbor.

Notre Dame looked deliciously putrid. Stirring any echoes yet?

Go Ducks!

Oh, man....the ND game was hard to watch. GT has a very good defense, but ND was just plain awful. Their O-line was terrible, and that was supposed to be a strength. Their sophomore starting QB was shell-shocked. When I was at the game, I was wondering why ND didn't throw *any* screens...well, just watching the ultrafast replay, there was one that Jones just freaked out on in the face of the rush (which they let in on a screen). Their punter, who last year was the best player on their team, was *awful*. Oh man, and now they're interviewing Joe Theisman! (shudder)

Evan Sharpley looked sharper, but they were still awful. Too young. Both lines need real work (with the exception of Trevor Laws who was a stud at DE this game).

Oh well, it'll be painful while our depth matures.

As the saying goes, Appalachian is hot, hot hot.

And Geaux Tigers!

Appalachian State beating Michigan is sweeter than candy. Any chance they'll stop getting over-inflated preseason rankings now? No? Oh well, at least it's a nice Female Doggoslap to that this year.

over-inflated preseason rankings now?

This may happen about the same time as a playoff system for a championship. What?

Fine, break my heart!

Tennessee fell to Cal last night *sigh* Cal looked really really good. I wouldn't be suprised if they go undefeated this year. Yes I'm sad we lost but I'm also glad we didn't play a cookie cutter game like 95% of the top 25 schools in the nation.

Yeah, great game overall. Cal wanted us bad so I predicted a loss. We have potential on offense, not so much on defense.

The AP announces that lower division schools are now eligible for their Top 25. Someone check the ambient temperature in hell to see if it's a little chilly down there.

Okay, now Michigan is toast after getting blown out in their house by Oregon.

As a UW Husky fan, this unfamiliar warm feeling must be what other fans call "hope". Sigh, how soon until it is dashed?

Penn State cheerleaders are still hot..

Great weekend of football. Michigan and ND 0-2, wahoo.

Anybody else find it disgusting how much the announcers talked about ND's quarterback while Penn State was on the field winning the game. I know nothing about the winning Penn State qb but I know the ND quarterbacks favorite color.

Hmm I wonder if Michigan will hire me as their head coach?

Be positive ( I know it's hard:>) GO Huskies!

Northwest teams all won: Washington State Cougars, Oregon Ducks and UW Huskies. (and of course the Seahawks, but that's another thread).

Go Badgers.

Wordsmythe << Sometimes I wonder if we might be long lost brothers, only you got all the wit. I mean, pulling for Wisconsin, the Bears, etc. makes you okay in my book. Now, if only Notre Dame is on that list, we're golden!

They're my fallback team. They're sort of the default for most Chicagoans, traditionally.

I mean, it's not like we're going to root for those nancy boy Wildcats.

ROOOOLLLLLLLL Tide! Roll!

Being a SU fan went from Fun (Mid to Late 90's) to essentially being a fan of Duke.

Good! Any team that gives their name a PC neutering deserves to play like Duke.

Orangemen win, Orange just get squished.

Fresno State.

Florida pretty much made Cal's victory over Tennessee seem fairly insignificant, and Florida did not even have "revenge" motivation going for them. They just rolled right over them.

Notre. Dame. Stinks.

Damn Good Dawgs!

And the Tide are no longer undefeated. Good game, though.

At least my B team (Geaux Tigers) is still rolling.
