Guitar Hero 3 Announced

I know, like seriously. I deeply apologize if i've piddled on your parade, all i'm saying is I don't see the anger, and until I get hard proof otherwise, i'm willing to trust the developer at their word.

There are many other good reasons that one could potentially get angry at GHIII, especially the boss battles and power-ups, which should probably be clocking a lot higher on the "Not A Guitar Simulator" Alert System. How that'll work, i'm concerned about. Niggling the developers over the instrumentation of one unconfirmed :30 solo in a smegging bonus song sounds a lot like Female Doggoing for the sake of Female Doggoing. One actually changes the way one approaches paying the game, the other is, in video game music terms, and in comparison, for my money, semantics.

But I'm being a "INTARNET MEENIE" right now apparently, so YMMV.

Dude, just sign-up for the APFB league already! Pick on the GH snobs later.

Oh, baby. I skipped the 80s version, but I *will* be buying this one.

Santana will add "Black Magic Woman" to the mix while The Killers will add "While You Were Young."

What a coincidence. I heard Black Magic Woman on the radio yesterday, and I thought how it would be a great GH song.

When you were Young sucks

* Avalancha by Heroes Del Silencio
* Take This Life by In Flames

Danged foreigners!

Guitar Hero fanatics prepare to get the first fix of the upcoming Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock video game demo with the launch of Activision, Inc.'s Tony Hawk's Proving Ground, slated to ship to stores on October 9. Players who purchase the Tony Hawk's Proving Ground game for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft will get an exclusive two week head start on experiencing the demo to this year's hottest music based video game before its release on Xbox LIVE Marketplace.

"Music is such a huge part of skateboarding culture and pairing the Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock demo with Tony Hawk's Proving Ground makes perfect sense," said Dusty Welch, head of publishing at RedOctane. "We're excited to bring together two highly anticipated games and give fans their first chance to rock out with the franchise that's taken the world by storm."

The demo features five tracks set in the Desert Rock Tour venue. Players will be able to rock out to:

* Lay Down (by Priestess)
* Even Flow (by Pearl Jam)
* The Metal (by Tenacious D)
* Hit Me with your Best Shot (as made famous by Pat Benatar)
* Rock You like a Hurricane (as made famous by Scorpions)

Both titles are in development by Activision's award-winning studio, Neversoft.

*adds Proving Grounds to the top of Gamefly queue*

So I was planning on buying the full GH3 package, with wireless guitar, because I figure I can use the device with Rock Band when I give up on this franchise in November. However, reading about the newest version of the Rock Band guitar, they've joined the buttons so that they feel continuous and not distinct, and that they feel like real frets, ie, more like a real guitar. So that sucks. I'd love to play around with the new wireless guitar, though. I thought the quality of the guitar dropped from the PS2 version to the 360 version, don't want to pay for yet another drop in quality. Then again it's only $30 more. Any other thoughts on this?

You like that it feels less like a guitar?

These songs range from so-so, to catchy, to very good. I think people will enjoy playing them. "I'm in the Band" annoys me as a song but its still pretty fun. "Avalancha" is pretty F'ing epic. "Take this Life" is a crazy, challenging metal song. "Radio Song" is criminally catchy. Im pretty sure you can look them all up on youtube.

GH3 preview for the Wii =D

I'm still torn on which console I'll buy GH3 and Rock band. I already have THREE guitars on the PS2, so I don't want on that again. BUT the PS2 will never get the additional content, so... I'm leaning towards PS3, depending on how they announce the new content for Rock Band.

Those screen shots made me cry. Is it possible that the jaggies and lack of color could be some sort of side effect of the screen shot process from the console? Pulling at straws, but man it cant look that bad right?

Yeah, I noticed that too.

I f*ckIN' NEED YOU MOOOORE THAN EVAR

Wait, so is this song in GH3 or Rock Band? I would totally belt that sh*t out, Old School-style if it were in Rock Band.

Anything you've been dreaming of

OOOH I WONT DO THAT

I'm in ur threadz, demanding ur man card.

Aw c'mon. Old School made that song forever hilarious.

Oh, that was certainly considered, but he notably didn't use the modified lyrics. He went back to the original. Tsk tsk, Mr. Mex.

Bulls on Parade brings up the number of known songs in the game to 39, with 29 of them taken from the original recordings. Anyone who's a fan of the hardcore rock band may remember the song from their second album, Evil Empire. It's also one of Rage Against the Machine's signature songs.

According to a story on Joystiq there's now going to be a PC version of Gh3. Woo!

New content announced, although you've got to buy the soundtrack to get it. Not sure i like the idea of unlockable content reached by buying another product, but i'm probably buying the game now just because Sonic Youth will be on it.

Sex Pistols?

Since Activision wasn't able to find the original multi-tracks for inclusion in the game, they called in The Sex Pistols themselves and told them they wanted to use their song.

The punk band was invited into the studio to re-record a couple of songs, one of which was the hit "Anarchy in the UK" - we're talking the original members doing a re-recording here and that includes Johnny Rotten, Steve Jones, and Paul Cook.

Lead vocals Johnny Rotten (AKA John Llydon) stated: "Re-recording the songs - what a stress you put on us but we rose to the occasion I think... admirably! A bit of anarchy in a video game is alright by me."

Meanwhile, Steve Jobs Jones himself seems to be like an avid fan of the Guitar Hero series, as he's been quoted to say:

Steve Jobs wrote:

It was great for Guitar Hero to, in a way, get us back in the studio. I wasn't sure how it was going to turn out but it actually turned out great and I think everyone held their own. I like Guitar Hero because my friends' kids like it. And I like what kids like.

That's pretty freakin awesome.
