Wii sound off and impressions.

So here's a question... is there a good RPGish game for the Wii? A Disgaea, GTA, or Final Fantasy Tactics?

The new Fire Emblem game will launch this Fall, I think.

Additional... I have not played any Gamecube games... is it worth it to pick up the peripherals to be able to?

Oh absolutely. Pikmin 1&2, Viewtiful Joe, Resident Evil 4 if you haven't played it on PS2, Eternal Darkness, Super Monkey Ball 1&2 - you could also satisfy your lust for a tactical RPG by grabbing Fire Emblem for Gamecube. Also, Mario Kart: Double Dash is a great coop game.

Yeah there's quite a few high quality GC games available for dirt cheap.

Godfather on the Wii is worth checking out. IT's $30 now too. IT's surprisingly good game. Alot of money spend on the voice overs and what not. The melee controls are quite fun too. And it will appeal to you if you want a GTA-like game.

And there's the GameCube FIRE EMBLEM game already available.

Annnnd, of course ZELDA: WIND WAKER. ETERNAL DARKNESS is a very cool game, and it's a shame we never saw a sequel. RESIDENT EVIL ZERO, the remake of RESIDENT EVIL, SUPER MARIO SUNSHINE, PAPER MARIO, METAL GEAR SOLID: TWIN SNAKES (a remake of the PS1 game, if you never played it before) ROGUE LEADER... all very high quality GC-only titles.

I still don't think GC was sucha bad console. I may just get it back from my old roommate to slake my thirst for Smash Brothers until I get a Wii.

If not, I might take you up on the offer, GG.

I spent about an hour Sunday playing Resident Evil 4 - never played it on the GC or the PS2 - and holy crap is it awesome. Easily some of the best wii controls yet, and from what I've seen so far it's the best game on the system to date, next to Zelda. Anybody who likes shooting zombies - or thinks they might - should buy it.

... Sold! It's next on my list. I looked at the GC lists you guys posted and while tempting... there's too much coming down the chute for my other systems within the next few months. Also I'm pretty sure they expect me to pay rent next month.

For the first time in nearly 9 months I walked into a game store today and asked if they had a Wii and they said......yes. I was really shocked but somehow the "hunt" for a Wii became more fun than the idea of actually owning one.

If I am feeling frisky after work I may get it on the way home but probably not. I want to play RE4 and Zelda really bad still but with Madden, Bioshock, Stranglehold, and Overlord soon to be on my 360 I am not sure I would give the Wii much love.

Update: I'm f'ing bored with it already. Hated the new Marios, never liked metroid, and I made it about 1/3 through Zelda and came to the stark realization that Nintendo games just aren't for me anymore. I've outgrown their juvenility and can't see myself playing anything on it other than RE4, which I already completed on the GC. Are there any alternate uses for a Wii? Perhaps, discus throwing, ultimate frisbee, smashing it into pieces and putting it back together, etc. *engages in a group hug with the 360 and PS3*

Not wishing to read 26 pages of thread, can anyone tell me what one title I should buy now for this thing?

I can't give you an answer to that. I only have Wii Sports still. I haven't seen any compelling game I'd like to purchase.

Send it my way. I have a titanium blender with a big enough cup to hold the wii in.

Sweet! Maybe we can throw in some other unwanted games and peripherals and get a nice cocktail out it.

The only new game i can recommend is Mario Striker, it is much better than the one for the gamecube.

I'm really enjoying Mario Strikers. It's good for quick tension-release. Not too long, not too short, just right for a refresher.

Loving mine, but I like having games that encourage local multiplayer. And that multiplayer has to be open to anybody regardless of skill because only a small sect of my friends regularly play games. Mario Party 8 is a big hit for our household because any visiting realities or friends can play it and have a good time without lengthy explanation. Right now my gamer friends are digging on Mario Strikers and Excite Truck. When I am by myself I am still trying to finish Super Paper Mario, Resident Evil 4 Wii, and any number of VC titles. All this and I am staring down the barrel of Samus' Arm cannon for the next three weeks. Even if the damn thing jumps the shark next year once I get the fall titles and Mario Kart I will be happy with my investment.

-OMG Out

I'd like them to put GB and GBC color games out onto the Virtual Console. It'd be nice to get, for instance, Metroid 2 back. Or FF Legends.

Let me know.

Strikers does look like a ton of fun with 3 buddies* and beer.

Not creative enough...I'll think of something.

Why would anyone want to smash anything that still holds significant value? May as well just give it away to charity or something for an auction or for kids to play with.

I find myself in the same boat as 93_confirmed. We bought the Wii planning on having fun playing together, but, as it stands today, the multiplayer options are pretty slim and the library doesn't look like it's going to get better anytime soon. Where's Wii Sports 2, with controls that map to your actions better? Where's a multiplayer Animal Crossing clone? Where's another fun arcade racer like Excite Truck? Why can't one of us be a surgical assistant in Trauma Center, or a sous chef in Cooking Mama? The system has a lot of promise, but the lack of progress in taking advantage of it is frustrating.

The needle is pointing further and further in the direction of selling it to pick up a 360. There aren't many games to play together, but at least there's a solid library that we could each have fun with.

If I didn't have a 360, I'd would have sold the Wii for one a loooongg time ago. There are so many great games that are out and coming out in the next 6 months so why the wait Killer?

Yeah, for now there's not enough multiplayer good games but this will change soon.
The next Trauma Center is suppose to be multiplayer and the next Raving Rabbits
will focus more on multiplayer. I see your next arcade racer maybe will be Nitrobike or
Mario Kart. I think Battalion War will be a good multiplayer too.

But if these games said nothing to you sell it while it's hot.

Trauma Center 2 has multiplayer, I believe. There is a NitroBike game coming out this fall that is from the developers of ExciteBike 64. Animal Crossing and Mario Kart will come out next year.

Come over here, Mr. Green. Serious dog wants to urinate on your leg.

Come on now, don't be like this baby. I was only looking for an excuse to post my first loldog, made with my own puppy. You're right, destroying stuff just to put that on youtube is dumb. Funny, but dumb.

They've done the same for the 360 and PS3 launch, if that makes you feel better.

Edit: Gotcha before the edit!

Well, it's a nice looking dog. And I didn't want to come off all serious. More like, why don't people want to make some cash or give it to someone to make cash with?
