Employee Profile: KrazyTaco[FO]

It was hard work, removing the layers of apathy dust and laziness cobwebs from the back shelves of the GWJ archives, but we have succeeded in restoring the Employee Profile from the deepest reaches of the GWJ vault to the front page. I didn't do any of this back-breaking work, that credit goes to Grumpicus, but I will take the credit. The Employee Profile is the article series where we ask questions of some of our long-standing forum members so we can all get to know them better.

Why is the first choice for the newly-restored Employee Profile my long time friend and "just friends" spooning buddy KrazyTaco[FO]? Could it be his dashing good looks? His heroism battling sea turtles in the depths of the Hawaiian ocean? The way he fills out those trunks? No, it's none of those things because they aren't true. It's entirely due to the fact that, as his title suggests, he is an "Attention Whore". So let's welcome KrazyTaco[FO] to the annals of the Employee Profile and give him the attention he craves!

1) Who the devil are you?

I'm an enigma, wrapped inside of a riddle and smothered in Buffalo Wild Wings Blazin' sauce. I live and work in the D.C. metro area designing and developing instructor-led and web-based training. But one weekend a month/two weeks a year I put on a uniform and become the most dashing Officer that the United States Army has (think Top Gun's Tom Cruise times 1000).

2) When you're not working or gaming, what do you do with your time?

I love to scuba dive. I really miss my time living in Hawai'i where I could drive just a few minutes and be on a boat ready to check out shipwrecks, turtles, sharks and fishies. I like to homebrew - mostly IPAs, but the last batch was a Chocolate Porter. I also enjoy hiking, biking, cooking (mostly southeast Asian and authentic Chinese), golf and keeping up with the news.

3) How about family? Kids? Pets? Particularly meaningful inanimate objects?

I have a beautiful and brilliant wife that I've been married to for just under 5 years. She is fluent in 3 languages, is a Ph.D. working on traumatic brain injury research, is hot, is sweet, likes playing board games with me and since she is so awesome, we rarely even have minor arguments or disagreements. Basically she is the legendary wife that was spoken about in the ancient tomes that predicted the coming of the Near-Perfect-Woman. I have no kids or pets but I did just get a really nice television and sectional.

4) When and/or how did you get into gaming?

Back in the early '80s, my dad got an Apple IIe when it came out and I played some flight simulator and a few others. I also had an Atari 2600 in the house that I played quite a bit on. But Christmas of 1986, I received a Nintendo Entertainment System, which is the defining moment in my life where I started playing video games too much and loving every minute of it. In fact I repaired my old system and started collecting NES cartridges (I have 350 at the moment).

5) What is your fondest gaming memory?

Going to a friend's house as a little kid for sleepovers where we would stay up all night playing Contra and seeing how fast we could beat it, racing around the track in Ivan 'Ironman' Stewart's Super Off Road or just building tracks in Excitebike.

and

During the High School days Pyroman[FO], Zedian, a few other non-goodjers and I would get together for all night LAN parties. Usually the first 3-4 hours was spent installing software, formatting hard drives, reinstalling windows, trying to get all the games patched to the same patch, fixing hardware and software conflicts or just trying not to get so frustrated that you throw your 2000 lb 15" monitor through the wall. But when the Sin demo, Diablo, Half Life or whatever the flavor of the week was would work, it was a glorious evening of pizza, sodas and gaming nirvana.

6) Why do you play games? What keeps you interested in them? Why haven't you outgrown them?

I play because they are fun and I don't plan on ever stopping as long as they are entertaining to me. That being said, I haven't been playing as much as I used to, and I seem to get bored with games quicker than when I was a kid.

7) What is your favorite game over the last year or so? Why?

Skyrim. Have you not played Skyrim and realized this question has an obvious answer?

8) Which upcoming game are you looking forward to most? Why?

I want to say Diablo 3, but I have a feeling I will get bored with it too quickly like I did with Starcraft 2 (I played maybe an hour of it). I guess it would have to be whichever game can hold my attention longer than a couple hours.

9) What first brought you to GWJ? Why do you stay?

I came over during the great Evil Avatar migration of 2003. I lurked a bit, eventually registered, and have been here ever since. This is one of the only websites I frequently visit because it is not like the rest of the internet; it has a great sense of community that I don't think you could really find anywhere else.

10) What is the story behind your forum name?

I really liked tacos and thought crazy with a "K" looked cool so I started using KrazyTaco around 1996 or so. Also, back in 1998 Pyroman[FO] and I decided to make the very first Team Fortress 2 clan on the Internet. It was Fortress Omega, so I started adding [FO] to the end of my name from that day forward.

11) Thanks for taking the time to answer our hard-hitting questions! Any last words?

Finger-->Butt

Comments

Uh oh... Q-Stone is gonna be p*ssed!

Congrats, Taco! Great to see one of these again

Finger-->Butt, and hard-hitting.. maybe shouldn't be in such close proximity.

Hey, I actually believe that "Finger --> Butt" will be KrazyTaco's last words. It will really confuse the paramedics and lead to a very convoluted autopsy.

Liar. I met him.

FTW!

Nice write up!

That [FO] thing has been driving me crazy (well, inspiring mild interest) for years! A great new profile and a mystery solved! A great day. Cheers, KrazyTaco[FO]!

This profile did not mention the tiny tiny bladder that never once lasts for a full L4D game!

But one weekend a month/two weeks a year I put on a uniform and become the most dashing Officer that the United States Army has (think Top Gun's Tom Cruise times 1000).

Soooo ... Val Kilmer in Top Gun?

Cronyism at its finest!

Nice work! It is a pleasure to know Mr. and Mrs. Taco (mostly Mrs.) in real life. They are awesome.

!pause

Finally, a hard hitting AAA front page story!

Oh, and it was a Team Fortress 2 clan (we started the clan almost a decade before the game came out).

So, we're just not going to bring up that time Krazy grabbed my chest in Los Angeles at all? We're just pretending that didn't happen, now?

He just wants to brag about it. Like saying you shook hands with a movie star.

Was he uttering "KALI MA" while wearing a skull headdress, until you were saved by Indy? Is he to blame for your medical problems last year?

My plan was pretty much pretending that it didn't happen for the rest of my life. That's still my plan, actually.

How's that working out for you, nipple-pinch voyeur man?

Look, we don't need to get HR involved in this.

Okay, this convinces me that I should attend the next DC-area Slap-and-Tickle

I met KrazyTaco once.

TRUE STORY, BRO!

(P.S. the pics are working!)

Fixed. I should have verified before making the edit. Sorry.

"Thanks, KrazyTaco, thanks. I'd put it in your pooper too." -Mex

And I still would, brother
