Ever wonder why movie Batmans rarely turn their horned heads? It's because the cowls of past suits were firmly attached to the neck and shoulders of the costume "” necessary to maintain that iconic silhouette and to prevent the actor from moving around inside the mask. The new headpiece "” modeled after a motorcycle helmet "” is separate from the neck, so star Christian Bale can now swivel his noggin side to side, or nod up and down. ''It was the hardest part of the suit to make,'' says Hemming.

There's also mention of retractable forearm razors. Is he changing into Wolverine? Dark Claw?

But are there...

Bat nipples?

Looks like he's preparing to take on Superman.

Looks homoerotic.

I like the suit.... especially the armour-esque way its laid out.

I like the batman reset

He looks... cold.

Totally dig it. Looks much more functional and much less don't-get-caught-after-dark-south-of-market-street.

I like the suit, but the belt is starting to look strap-onish.

Looks great! I cannot wait for this movie!

I've hated every suit so far. I'm a purist - Batman didn't have a problem turning his head in the comics, because the suit is made of fabric.

I've recently realzied that I'm the kind of fanboy who, instead of anticipating new movies featuring my favorite characters, cringes.

A professor once told me that the more troubled society is, the longer Batman's ears become.

Best Batman EVAR!

That's a fabric costume, so it must be the only one Fed likes.

Personally, I think the Batman reset is great. I hope the next movie is as good as the last one.

I assure you, The Batman is all man and does not need such utilities.

Actually, I was thinking something along those lines. I'll admit I find it more faithful to the source, though not really more satisfying.

I think I'm the only person who didn't like the last movie. I'm not really sure why I didn't...it just didn't seem like Batman, or something. I still think the first Tim Burton movie is probably the best Batman we'll ever get. Batman is handled seriously, and the Joker is a freaking looney tune-y, homicidal maniac. Sounds about right.

Then, Fed, we must remain forever enemies.

I definitely think the first batman is the best. I enjoy Batman for its villains as much as (or more than) for Batman's character. Jack Nicholson was a GREAT joker!

I've enjoyed the others for the most part, except for 2... which basically bent The Penguin over and had its way with him. Burgess Meredith played the perfect Penguin, IMO. Danny DeVito could have done the role some justice if the character was portrayed the same way. He didn't have a chance. Other villains have been miscast or given bad treatment in the films, but the shock of that after the first movie was too much for me.

What they did to the Penguin is nothing compared to what was done to Poison Ivy/Bane and Dr. Freeze. I'm sorry, but Batman Forever could easily win a "Worst Movie Ever" award. I think they made that movie in the perspective of, "Let's get Alicia Silverstone in tight leather! How do we do that? ... Let's make a Batman movie around it."

That being said... I like the new direction they're taking with the movies. And I'm really hoping the new suit doesn't have bat nipples.

What about Batboobies?

Jack Nicholson was not The Joker. He was Jack Nicholson in creepy clown makeup.

I used to love that movie. It's one of those films that has not aged well for me and I pretty much hate everything about it now.

The new insanely creepy Joker seems more likely to be inline with how I imagine the character from the comic books. Ledger pulling it off is my only worry about the new film.

Dig the suit. I hope the improved flexibility in it means Nolan will give us some decent views of the action sequences this time. I love Batman Begins but man I wish the camera work was better everytime he fights.

I think you meant Batman & Robin.

How about the ever-so-popular butt shots?

They're probably talking more about those things like Jango Fett has in SW II. Not so much the sniktity-snaktity type Wolvie had.

Like jmdanny says, you mean Batman & Robin. And yeah, everyone knows it was a sh*tty movie. Bad enough that they had to start the entire franchise over from scratch. So there's always that silver lining. (Unless you're looking at it from the perspective of my eternal nemesis Fedaykin98.)

Hey, not every movie can have this

Oops, y'all are right. I did mean Batman and Robin. Got them mixed up.

I'm with you. I didn't like "Batman Begins", although partly that's because I was watching with some guy who kept shrieking "Ninjas! Freakin' NINJAS!" whenever there were any on screen. Still, I wasn't a fan. I love the first Batman movie, and I thought Michael Keaton has been, by far, the best Batman. As for The Joker, I'm sure Heath Ledger will do a perfectly acceptable job, but in my mind, nobody could ever play him like Mark Hamill would.

Thank GOD for the "Bat Shark repellant" !

F*cking A! I still don't know why they chose Heath Ledger over Mark Hamill. He has the crazy batsh*t insane voice and I am sure with enough make up they could make him look like The Joker. I'm with you on Michael Keaton too, although Christian Bale does come in a close second.

Thin_J - Imho, Nicholson is totally the Joker from A Death In The Family.

Quintin - how did I become your nemesis, again? I mean, I like guns...

Just messing with your head, Feddy.

I like the Batman reset personally, and I used to love the 1989 Burton version of Batman, but I just cannot get into it now. Batman himself was okay, but Bruce Wayne was done horribly. Mind you I don't mean Michael Keaton's acting, I thought he was great in the role, but Bruce Wayne was just written wrong. And the fact that Batman was a rather immobile person annoyed me. He relied more on his gadgets than he did his physical skills, simply because the suit was too rigid for him to move around in. I like Bale as Batman/Bruce Wayne quite a bit though, I think he handled it well, even if his Batman voice was off to me. The whole scene with him interrogating Flass in Batman Begins was really well done though and sold me on him as Batman.

And I really despise Nicholson as the Joker. He was more in line with the Cesar Romero Joker from the wretched (yes I said it) TV show. I cringe when people say it was the best Joker they've ever seen. It really was just Nicholson in Joker makeup. He had moments of being creepy, but mostly I saw him as a pudgy old guy hopping around in a purple suit and clown makeup. I'm not entirely sold on the concept of Heath Ledger as the Joker, though I do like what I've seen and heard so far. For me the most iconic version of the Joker is Mark Hamill's portrayal of him. I'm not sure he would've worked in a live action version but I wouldn't have complained if they'd given him a shot.

As for this new version of the outfit, I don't know if I like it yet. It's looking more and more armored to me, which makes sense in the setting and direction Nolan is taking the series, and I love that Batman's head can actually move now, but I'm a fan of simplicity in superhero outfits. I didn't really like the outfit from Batman Begins but slowly grew to like aside from the ridiculous neck so I may quickly shift into liking this version much more. I'd have to see a larger picture though to really gauge it completely I guess.
