Section:

Believe it or not, we are actually closing in on the end of the holiday new release season. Even with 2 or 3 massive weeks of releases left, it's been a long run since mid-September, and by volume most of the big games of 2011 are behind us at this point. That said, some of the biggest of the big are hitting shelves over the next 3 weeks.

There are a few major releases I care about to varying degrees this week, and the cold, hard truth is that I probably won't pick up any of them. I am far too immersed in Battlefield 3, Rocksmith and Forza 4 to squeeze in any more games until Skyrim launches next Friday. It's hard to imagine that Uncharted 3 will crash onto store shelves this week, and I won't be rushing out to buy it, but as of right now that's the plan.

Of course, my will is not a thing made of metal, or even a nice dependable polymer, so who knows what Tuesday will bring.

Glad to see you're enjoying Rocksmith so much Sean! I've been really impressed with it myself, and this is coming from a Rock Band addict who was extremely skeptical of it from the beginning. As a learning tool, it is undoubtedly better than Rock Band's pro guitar, though RB is still the better overall package IMO. If they could find a way to utilize Rocksmith's technology in Rock Band, that would be unstoppable.

Where? Other than Uncharted 3 and War in the North, I don't see any. Just a lot of Cabela, Hasbro, motion games and shovelware.

For me, it's just another week of waiting for SR3.

Uncharted catch-all here

Amazon delivery at 10am or so tomorrow. Can't wait!

Uncharted for me. I had high hopes for War In The North, but what I played at Eurogamer left me less than excited.

Gotta say, the fall 2011 season has been pretty slim pickings if you don't have a console. This fall I picked up Deus Ex, Football Manager 2012 and, uh, Costume Quest and the unplayable Sword of the Stars 2.

Uncharted 3 tomorrow

Laundry Quest, Inbox 0, Vacuum Mania and Grocery Stockpile: Craft Brew Edition for me this week before Skyrim next Friday.

Holy crap, Skyrim is next Friday. And only four days before Saints Row 3! And Assassin's Creed Revelations! Oh god. Oh god. It's starting!

Uncharted 3 for me!

Just a little over two weeks and you can join the rest of us in Arkham City. It's too bad you had to wait, but it's your own fault for being a pirate. You ARE a pirate, right? I mean, why would WB punish you for being a pirate unless you were a pirate?

My last name is Morgan. Clearly they've mistaken me for Sir Henry "Barbadosed" Morgan, the ruthless Welsh pirate and protege of Francis Drake. It's an easy mistake to make.

Deny it as much as you like, it serves you right for invading Panama.

Yeah, sure. You're not Sir Henry Morgan. And Kevin Spacey isn't Keyser Söze. Riiiiight.

Nothing for me this week.

Though my wife has preordered Skyrim for her birthday, and I have preordered Saints Row 3 for my birthday, there hasn't been much exciting for us this year. I've been turned off by what I've heard about the new Batman game, Rage looks like a solid $20 title for me, and Deus Ex: HR was pretty disappointing, even at $40.

That said, I'm probably the only PS3 owner in existence who has never played an Uncharted game and has no interest in doing so. (First impressions matter, and if your demo is going to be as bad as the demo for Uncharted 1 was for me, prepare to lose a franchise customer)

I have to say, though, the lack of attention the latest Kirby game on the Wii is getting (it came out a week or two ago) is criminal. It's not quite as good as Kirby's Epic Yarn, but it's up there. I traded in Deus Ex: Human Revolution to get it, and to say I have not been disappointed is like saying a drowning man is not parched of thirst.

Uncharted 3 for me - in a "few" months. Like when the insane amount of games coming out slows down a bit. Which by the look of it is going to be Summer 2012.

Well, if you hadn't skipped Battlefield 3, would you be singing the same tune? Plus Bastion, Hard Reset, and a number of other interesting small titles have all released on PC.

You guys used to show the release dates for upcoming AAA titles. Is that still available anywhere? I just got a couple of lovely little gift cards for games, but I've been broke so long I have no idea what is coming out.

(Ok, not completely broke. I got Dark Souls when it came out, and I've slowly, lovingly beat the game to a pulp over the last few weeks. Thanks to fellow Goodjers for putting me onto it.)

That may be the saddest thing I've read all day.

I wrote like 5 responses to the same paragraph and ended up deleting all of them.

I only differ in that I actually bought and played a good way into Uncharted 2 before giving up on it in disgust.

If there's one thing I know about Thomas, it's that he's completely comfortable marching to the beat of his own drummer, even if that drummer makes Certis cry.

In disgust? By all means it's not a perfect game, but it's still fun. Of course, if you were playing on Hard, I can see getting frustrated with the game as it's a pain. But if you sit back on normal and just enjoy the story for what it is, I don't see a reason to hate the game.

I think anyone who's a perfectionist with virtually no tourist or completionist tendencies would find the Uncharted games terribly frustrating.

He's such a contrarian, he doesn't have orgasms, he has iconoclasms!

Thank you, I'll be here all night.

Oh, God. Skyrim is coming up. I'm living in this delusional fog that I'll have Yakuza 4 done before then. I'm still on Sajima, by the way.

Delusional

I only have enough to buy one game this month and it will have to be Skyrim. I'll pick up U3 when the price drops in a couple of months.

hidannik has the right of it. I have virtually no tourist or completionist buttons. My story standards are high enough that the content in Uncharted makes me cringe with pain, and to add insult to injury, I can't just read it the way I can JRPGs. I have to sit there NOT playing listening to a bad story. The final straw was the shooting combat and the pixel hunting.

I like the direction Uncharted series is heading. It's trying to make a narrative that isn't just filler, but it's still not there for me, and I don't like playing betas. I'll keep an eye on the series and jump in when the water looks warm enough for my tastes.

Where were you when I hit the "Choose Your Tag" threshold?

Also, sigged!

Can't say I blame you too much. The story is good enough for me and my low standards, while the whole of the presentation pushes me forward.

I also think they struck the best balance of a goofiness and seriousness in Nathan's character for what they have to work with and what they're trying to do/say. The demo's certainly only let you see a small portion that doesn't particularly frame that too well, from what I remember. I'm not saying you should go play it but, I am saying it works quite well for what it is.
