Tomorrow is the first day of Movember. This year I have pledged to shave my precious beard on November 1st and grow a mustache for the next 30 days. I'm not alone, already the GWJ Movember group has seven brave men ready to shave and grow for the cause.
If your obligations prevent you from growing a glorious mustache, you can still donate! If you're a lady and you simply cannot grow one, hard as you may try, you can sign up and show your support as a mo sista.
Prostate cancer is second only to non-melanoma skin cancer in the US alone as the leading cancer among men. In 2007, 223,307 were diagnosed and those numbers are growing every day. My father-in-law is among the many fighting this difficult disease. I hope you'll join us in supporting this important research and raising awareness among men that getting checked routinely is essential. Early detection saves lives!

I didn't know that the site was putting a team together, so I have already joined one at work. I'm interested to see whether a bristling mo will make me more scary as a prosecutor, or difficult to take seriously.

I too am taking part of Movember at work. The beard comes off tomorrow. I'll happily contribute Mo-pix if you guys are building any sort of gallery.
I'm in!
You bastard, Tanglebones. :)

How could I pass up the chance to look like a pedophile for a month for a good cause? I didn't know there was groups. I'll take a look and see if I can join a group or if we have one going at work already.
Thanks for giving movember some press, Certis

If only I didn't have to be professional looking, I would show you how to grow the least manly 'stache you've ever seen.
Wear the Filthy Skimmer badge with honor. For we have all, at one time or another, been filthy skimmers. And it is our brotherly duty to remind each other, that although the path of the skimmer is quick, it is also treacherous.
I am also putting my face on the line this month at work. It is also wonderful to hear of so many others doing so.
Ugh. Peer pressure be damned! I might try. Too bad it's not sideburns and chin-scruff month. I've got that down.

Funny I was just going to post something about this. In!!!

I joined because I can only gain manliness from this.
... And my axe!
I'm in the group. My grandfather is in the late stages of metastasized prostate and colon cancer, and I very rarely see clients face-to-face anyway.
Words... are a big deal.

As a person in the front lines of healthcare, the number of people dying of cancer is more staggering by the day. I have lost 2 co-workers in their late 50's, early 60's this past week alone.
Scary stuff.
Good news is, it gives me an excuse to grow a sweet stache and my wife and kids can't say a word!!

I'm in as well, but we already have a team at work, so I won't be joining the GWJ Movember collective.

Yes I work in healthcare too and I've seen too many people come into the hospital I work at and die as result of cancer. It's hard to exaggerate just how serious of a problem it is.
I really encourage anyone not willing to grow a 'stache to at least donate a few dollars. You won't regret it.
My sister would kill me if I'm enshrined for all eternity in her wedding pictures wearing a mustache. And the family would probably miss the point and think it was some creepy homage to our father.
Still, I could just tell her it was her own dumb fault for getting married in Movember.
Sorry, Goodjerinos. Maybe next year.

I am totally in. I can't grow a beard, so it's a good thing it's not called beardvember. Like others here, I'll be joining my work group.

I've signed up with a group of 9 guys at work. Nobody will be able to say I didn't accomplish anything in November!

My full state of mustache will be the same as if I have never grown it. Yup. I'm a 39-year-old dude with a 5-year-old's upper lip. So, I too, will be participating.
This beard is going on year six so it's not going anywhere. But I'll definitely donate to the GWJ team sometime between now and the end of the month.
Signed up. Joined the group. Freshly shaven. Looking forward to self-applying the adjective mustachioed.

Alright ... jerks!
Man, the Canadian site is slow. Can someone go kick the moose or something?
Stone thongs are almost as important to preventing the spread of elves as lead toys are.
Good luck everyone, the wife has stated she will not have a husband with a mustache.
Also, the Canadian site is slow because the moose is drunk on maple syrup.

I'm in for year two on the Fu Man Drupal team, and it looks like you can't join more than one team. I hope to see the GWJ group rise gloriously!

You've managed to get a long time lurker out of the shadows. Have been following this site and podcast since 2007.
I already have a group going in our local community, but am glad to see so many people supporting this!
Good luck all!
Alright, alright, you've talked me into it. I'm gonna shave this afternoon.

Erm... So since I followed the stuff from the GWJ group, I'm now somehow signed up for Movember Canada? I can't seem to enter my US address into my profile. =)
I've emailed them, but... kinda weird to have it be country-specific like that.

Yeah, I'm not running a marathon to raise awareness for anything either. And I'm more willing to do that over shaving (Note: not very willing at all).
