So, with Forza 2 looming larger just down the road, it's probably about time to get a general forza thread going.

With the game having already hit shelves in some places around the globe, it seems like folks are already showing how sweet this game is going to be.
Take for instance the custom painting system. I've been real excited with the painting options, but then I stumbled across some of the pages showing what users in Japan have already put together and now I'm super-psyched

I'm hoping to see some very awesome cars on the auction house. I think I heard we have somewhere around 6000 layers to use.
edit:
Reviews are starting to show up:

That sh*t is awesome. I can't wait to get my hands on this game.
Tomorrow will rule. Or maybe wednesday. I guess it depends. I sure am hoping for tomorrow though.
Best Buy and Circuit City are guaranteeing the game in stock by 2 pm wednesday here (check their ad from yesterday's paper), and Circuit City is running the deal where if they don't have it in stock by then you get a 20 dollar gift card. You'll have to have the ad with you in hand though or they may tell you to go find some traffic to play in.
I'd buy a lot more games at other retail stores if they all did sameday shipping, but I'll probably be whoring my wallet out to Gamestop tomorrow. They usually do sameday on big releases
I'm getting this game (I've had it reserved for a few months now, and I rarely reserve anything anymore) and will be going nuts on it.
Alright now, seriously... WTF?!
So... People should start seeing copies of this today. I'll be checking my local EB and will get goin' on it right after I mow the damn lawn.
Now that I'm working from home I'll be walking down to the local Gamestop at lunch. I was on some board last night and saw the best paint job ever. A picture that looked exactly like Colonel Sanders. Anyone know what the deal is with the Fairlady for people who reserved the game? Do we just get the code when we pick up the game or were you supposed to get the code when you reserved it?
Dang, I have no way to check on the status of my order...
I checked my local Gamestop in Brighton, MA and they said not until tomorrow then bugged me about pre-ordering. I will probably be picking it up at Best Buy or Circuit City during lunch tomorrow.
Yeah all the various stores in our area are saying tomorrow as well.
This is the first big release in a really long time that gamestop/eb hasn't had in on Tuesday. I wonder if it's related to all the "Guaranteed by 2.pm Wednesday" stuff we're seeing from the bigger retailers?
Toronto and Mississauga got it today. I'm hoping BB/FS/Walmart/EB will have a copy for my groping mitts in about an hour
There are some stores that have it in kind of near here actually, but I'd have to make about a 45 minute trip to get to any of them and I just can't be bothered today if I have to go that far.
Tomorrow it'll be a five minute drive up the road.
I think a lot of it is because of the holiday... I have been thinking of getting this, but not a huge "gearhead". I loved the demo, but would this be a good game for a casual racer. Also liked DIRT! How many GWJ are getting Forza 2?
I'll be getting it tomorrow.
My EB told me tomorrow also. He said that they had some problem with the manual and needed to reprint. How he knows this, I don't know.
Looking at the list, you'd think I was obsessed or something. :o
Just a little! :O
Lupus I know your pain... No copies in Ottawa. I have however been assured I get a copy tomorrow after work. So it will be the longest damn Wednesday ever.
I should be picking up a copy next Friday (8th June), which is release day here in the UK.
Been blasting around in the original via BC to get into the mood... not that I need an excuse to be more of a petrolhead at any given moment.
Totally getting this and will love to get in friendly races with people!

Thats the IGN review. Their main complaint in the closing comments was that it had no soul. I have no idea what they want out of a sim, but I got much more enjoyment out of the Forza 2 demo than I did out of GT4. I understand their complaint about the visuals, but the tone I got from the review was that they just didn't really like it too much.
No soul eh? What the f*ck is that supposed to mean? It's not a Jazz album it's a freakin racing sim. Whatever.
The EB man left a message saying they have my copy. I WANNA GO HOME!
Yeah, the general consensus sounds to me like they were disappointed with the art direction of the game, thus the "no soul" comments. But this is understandable for a game that is a sim first and running at 60fps, versus an arcade racer such as need for speed or burnout. Different strokes, etc.
Exactly.
Still, I would kill for a cockpit view like the one in PGR3.

Really? I find it cumbersome and blocks your view way too much. You're looking at the road ahead so the hood view is the closest thing to reality imo. I'm already sitting in a cockpit, I don't need to see an extra pair of hands and wheel. What I'd really like is that 3 screens setup though. If you ever need ideas for a gift...
I'll be picking this up soon. Maybe tonight, if the weather's bad.

Agreed. Trying to view a 3D world through a flat rectangular box is all the view obstruction one could possibly need IMO. Although a cockpit view certainly looks cool. But with peripheral vision, as well as a good chunk of straight-ahead vision already out the window, blocking your view any further seems unnecessary to me.
Now, with one of those badass multi-TV setups, then it might be a different story.
