Having finished Deus Ex: Human Revolution -- let it never be said that there aren't advantages to convalescence -- I enter this week on a kind of gaming high. Now all I have to do is maintain that kind of pace, a complete game a week, throughout September, October and November and I should be fine.
Last year I was very vocal about abandoning the Madden franchise and saving my precious shekels for something far more deserving, like a case of bacon or a bucket of drywall repair. This year, I come to the end of August with no such claims. I've already come to a kind of shameful peace with myself that what I really want is just to plow through a simulated NFL season with my Super Bowl Champion Green Bay Packers. Maybe next year I can pretend to be all superior again, but for this year Madden 12 is my game of the week.
I had fully expected that this week would be all about Tropico 4 to me, but a disappointing demo and the troubling sense that this is nothing but Tropico 3 with a veneer finish. You should feel free to soak in the irony of my complaining that a sequel is basically just the previously released version repackaged hot on the heels of a paragraph about buying Madden, and I'll probably still pick up Tropico 4 down the line but for now it's a somewhat disappointing pass for me.
But, if neither of those games flips your trigger, this week does hold a potential dark horse game for the fall, particularly if you are a fan of rampant action. Bodycount on the 360 and PS3 should be considered the spiritual successor, if such a thing were truly deserved, of EA's Black. Following in the footsteps of something like Bulletstorm, this appears to be a title that revels in its destructive capacity without ever taking itself too seriously and never forgetting that the one reason you're here is to make things blow'd up real good.

Is there really no 3DS titles coming out this week? Wow.
Edit: I'm super stoked for Rock of Ages. Can't wait!
Edit: Edit: Oh, I recall Tom Chick talking about Achron. Interested to see how that turns out.

If we're honest with ourselves, bacon and fixing your house are about the most important things ever. Especially the bacon.
Also, my infitely clueless to current pop culture mind wonders why someone would want a fitness game featuring Mel Brooks. And the only answer I can think of is that it would be funnier than if it were someone else.

Yeah, I'm all over Madden this week. Get it every year. Sue me...
Haven't bought Madden since 09, largely because there weren't exactly a lot of Buccaneers seasons I wanted to relive. Then last year happened. I see there being a good chance of Madden 12 in my near future.

I'm sorry for you. Madden 09 was a travesty.

There are four:
Now, whether or not any of those are worth mentioning is another question entirely.
Professionally offended. Does not understand jokes. Needs a man to explain them to me.
Clearly this will be a week of Deus Ex HR and Heroes of Might and Magic V. Yes, that was "five." Ten dollars is hard to beat for such greatness, especially since it's my first time at the turn-based rodeo.

Another week, and still not good excuse to buy a 3DS. I want to want one.
Also, did I mention VYPER DRIVE!!!?
Nothing much grabs me there...going to spend the week with more Xenoblade and my second DX:HR run (this time, zero fatalities / zero alarms going off...it'll probably be the death of me).
inactive here until further notice.
Nothing for me this week. Next week, however, will bring righteous glory for the Imperium.
Finished Deus Ex already, Sands? I must be slacking...or banging my head against the wall trying to do stealth when excessive murder will do just fine.
I wish you guys would stop encouraging him.

Must we repeat that grammatical error?
Words... are a big deal.

Lol. I was going to change it to "are" but only realized my error after Adam quoted me.

Rock of Ages! I played it at PAX (yeah, the only game I played at PAX and it's coming out within days), and I can't deny a game that features "different modes of art history".

That did it. I'm aroused.

Tropicoooooooooo!
Certis: Quintin is both smart and attractive.
Fedaykin98: Good lord, I wouldn't have expected brilliance like that from that nemeslut Quintin Stone!
Yonder: It's weird to say this, but Quintin Stone may be the wisest person here.
I bought Achron.
I wish I hadn't.
