Seems like a long time since I've done one of these things. It's even a holiday here in Canada and I just got married but what the hell, you only live once! I know, it's a wild and crazy way to spend your honeymoon but we decided to hold off on it and go this winter when we'll appreciate being somewhere hot and sunny more. Ok, enough wedding talk for now, we've got games to discuss! The game of the week was a pretty easy choice since my new best friend Warren Spector had a hand in it. Thief 3 (Deadly Shadows) ships for the Xbox ($49.99) and the PC ($39.99) this week on Tuesday. It seems to be more fleshed out than Deus Ex 2 was so here's hoping!

Is that Garrett or the Green Lantern?

There's a bunch of solid DVDs out this week including Bruce Campbell's Bubba Ho-Tep, the sixth season of Buffy, Club Dread and Return of the King among others. Check out the whole list here.

Comments

Spunior's feature on Spartan really piqued my interest in it. At that price, it may be hard to say no to.

"My new best friend Warren Spector... Hey guys did you see my best buddy Warren Spector ... This game was made by my bestest buddy in the whole world, Warren Spector"

If I'd realized at the time that you'd never skip a chance to drop Warren Spector's name again, I'd have punched him in the face and ran off with his unconcious body instead of taking that picture.

Also Spartan will have to wait, I have fullfilled my weekly dose of Vitamin Indie with Gish.

So, I guess for an unbiased review of Thief 3 we're going to have to turn to Elysium? Probably better that way anyway, since he shares my hatred for console-ized PC games.

The controls were vague and unfamiliar. Also, I'm probably too traumatized to play it. I'm afraid Warren will come to my house.

Sweet! I hope this means that a Region 2 release is imminent.

I'm not really a fan of Don Coscarelli (Phantasm), but anything with Bruce Campbell as Elvis, Ossie Davis as Black JFK and the undead has to be good!

In short, I'm hoping for some Army of Darkness-esque delight.

OMG, a new river city ransom! If it is contains even half of the button mashing goodness that the original NES one did I will have to go buy a GBA.

Bubba Ho-Tep!

Never got a release in cinemas over here (UK), and doesn't look like it will make it on DVD either, which is totally unfair, as I've been waiting for this film for over a year.

Maybe its time to get that new multi-region DVD player I've been promising myself...

Begin the endless variations of Lord of the Rings boxed sets...

Wait till the extended editions are out, that's at least 9 various boxed sets right there!

Um, which Thief 3 should I get? The Xbox version or the PC version? I've never played any of the Thief games before, but I'm interested in this one.

Sometime in 2006 I will get the "super supreme extra crunchy boxed trilogy with all those cool extras we left out on purpose to get you suckers to buy one more set " version..

That will come with a Gandalf bobble head.

What dose it tell you when the PC version is 10 bucks less then the Xbox. Screems crappy port at me... Hope that is not the case though.

I just got back from the store and have both the PC and Xbox Theif 3. I can say without a doubt the PC version is superior to the Xbox. I was expecting the worse like DX2 and man this game has broken all expectations. It actually runs smoothly (!), and with bloom on!
