Let's talk anime.

Has anyone watched enough FLCL that they can answer some questions. I'm deeply confuzzled. ^_^

42.

That good, huh? Great......

It's the answer to everything.

What could possibly be confusing about FLCL?

Love the series, and easily in my top all time list. If you have the DVD's by chance, the commentaries are a great incite.

FLCL is indeed pretty good stuff. All in all, at it's core, it's a show about growing up and dealing with change. Yes, it's delivered in a very exaggerated fashion, but it's still there.

The episode about the Mayor's daughter, with the play and whatnot is pretty much FLCL in a nutshell.

mmmm just rewatched FLCL the other day. I love that show.

Elfen Lied is what I'm in the middle of right now.

Stop now then; trust me. There is a reason the series is so short.

lol what's so bad about? i'm 7 episodes in (last 6 are still coming from netflix)

Knowing why he's watching it, I can say that he'll be fine with it. It's not like he's looking for anything more than the superficial face value.

pretty much.

some anime's i watch for a deep story and others I watch to just see a bunch of blood and violence.

this is the latter.

momgamer check this out, it's in my 'things to catch up on' bookmarks

Those who liked Honey and Clover, listen up. Bokura ga ita is the spiritual successor to it. Even has a very similar art style. I'm one episode in and already this show has me as a fan boy.

I've heard that, but sadly Honey & Clover is still sitting on my 'Needs DL'd and watched' list.

H&C is top notch (if you care for character drama.) I highly recommend you get around to it sooner then later, AnimeJ. Thanks for the heads up, Edwin, I'll have to look for it.

At perhaps the completely opposite end of the scale, I'm currently very much enjoying Sumomo mo Momo mo. Fun watch if you like it over the top.

I just watched Sumomo mo Momomo 16 last night, and it is a fun watch. Not a keeper but still good.

As for Bokura ga ita it's on licensed in Japan and Italy so it should be ok for fansubs till it reaches here.

I'm all about character drama. 90-95% of the stuff I've watched lately falls into that category(Kanon, Simoun, Shakugan no Shana), and most of what's on my up and coming/watching as it's released list does too.

Query: How does H&C2 stack up? I've heard everything from 'not as good, worth watching' to 'just as good'.

To be completely honest, I haven't watched all of H&C2 yet, but what I've seen of it stacks up fairly well.

How are you liking Shana by the way? I've been interested in the series, but not enough to actually start watching it so far.

Well Shakugan no Shana was good enough for me to watch the whole thing last week end, but on the other hand thats not really a rare occurrence

I just started to DL Bokura ga ita which I'm really looking forward to considering how much I enjoyed both H&C and H&C2.

I finished watching Shana a week ago or so, and love it. If you watch it, make sure you get the OAV, both Shanatans and Itadaki no Hecatetan. Chibi Goodness.

Just finished watching Elfen Lied. I rather enjoyed it. Probably in my top 10. Really really good now I think about it.

I'm going to stop updating the list on the first page as I now use this.

This isn't really anime, but Kamen Rider Kabuto is so good. And cheesy. You can tune into this guy's collection for the first 19, and this guy's for everything else.

I can't get that to load, but that could be entirely due to me being at work. Personally, I've been a longtime fan of ANN for news, and they have this handy encyclopedia of every single series evar.

That's my listing, although it's about a year and a half out of date. Off the top of my head, I can think of around a dozen shows not on that list.

Oh snap, I had no idea ANN had that. But my collection also includes my non-anime stuff.

For non-anime stuff, yea it's no good. But being able to browse through lists and go 'Oh! I watched that a decade ago!' is pretty handy.

I'll use that for reference. Are you still not able to visit my list?

Nope, but I'm fairly convinced that it's the NOC Firewall Nazis at work.

That ANN list thing is awesome, I'll have to transfer mine to it.

Also I just watched the first episode of this new series. Looks promising so I'll be following up on it.

Hadn't heard anything about that. I'm currently watching Nodame Cantabile, Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS(Guilty pleasure to end all guilty pleasures, IMO), as well as digging, so very slowly, through my extraordinarily large backlog.
