Command & Conquer 3 - Catch all thread

Pages

Just happened to be at Best Buy when I saw this in the center stand. I totally forgot this was coming out today so I snagged it as I liked the demo.

Figured I would start this thread so everyone can put their impressions in it.

FYI, Im stunned at the cast though.

Michael Ironside - many movies (Bad guy in Total Recall)
Tricia Helfer - our beloved 6
Billy Dee Williams - Lando!
Josh Holloway - Lost stud
Grace Park - Sharon

Big DVD... 10 minutes into the install and only 3/4 the way through.

PAR

I bought it as well but I am at work, so I cannot play it but o well

I got the Kane edition and I cannot wait to get home to play it, been looking forward to C&C3 since it was released.

Waiting for EB to tell me my copy is in. Then I'll pick it up in a week or two, heh. ARgh!

I might pick it up this week, assuming if I decide to pay that traffic ticket I got a few weeks ago and leave it be or pay extra to go to traffic school to get the point off my license.

I bought mine over EA link, just got done playing the first few missions. Nothing really new to add impressions wise over the demo, it remains awesome.

One word. Awesome.

Now we need to do multiplayer....

Just a heads up, there is a day 1 patch available through the games autoupdater (just log onto the online part) that has some minor balance changes and a couple of crash fixes.

Patch Notes wrote:

Exploits
· Scrin Mastermind's Teleport Units ability maximum range reduced.
· GDI Engineers, Nod Saboteurs, and Scrin Assimilators can no
longer capture structures when under the effects of the Scrin's
Phase Field support power.

Optimizations
· Improved video playback on low-end system configurations.

Balance Changes
· Scrin Storm Column cost / build time increased to 3,000 credits
/ 30 seconds.
· Scrin Buzzer health reduced to 75 and weapon damage type
changed to SNIPER.

Bug Fixes
· Fixed an error that would occasionally result in a crash in Nod
vs. Nod matches on the multiplayer map Deadly Sertao.
· Fixed issues with automated map transfer feature in multiplayer.
· Fixed an error that would sometimes cause a Commentator's
telestrator drawings to not erase as intended while viewing
BattleCast replays.
· Fixed issues with replay file playback.
· Fixed placeholder text and chat log errors with the Comrade in-
game chat window.

Other Changes
· Fixed an error in README.txt file regarding location of saved
game files in Windows Vista; added references to EA Link
version of the game; added disclosure about in-game advertising
(Note: the EA Link version of the game ships with this updated
ReadMe file).
· References to Nod's "Avatar Warmech" unit have been changed to
"Avatar".

So... anyone have the 360 version and can comment on it?

I don't think the 360 version was released yet, Isn't it suppose to be released in april?

Loving it so far, the cheesy cutscenes, the grenadiers, so far it's pretty awesome. I'm only two missions in too

One thing I find confusing is that they went to the "each barracks is a seperate queue" model like the War/Starcraft games. I found the old method of just one queue simpler to deal with. Plus, there's no hotkeys for switching between queues that I can see so it grinds all my hotkey spasms to a halt

However, I love how they picked up the consistent hotkeys from Rise of Legends. It makes tons more sense than trying to guess the letter the developer chose to hotkey to that unit

I don't have much to add to the comments from above and the demo thread but I will completely echo the cries of "awesome!". I have only invested about 30 minutes into the game but it is fantastic thus far and runs silky smooth on my laptop. A great purchase, well worth the money and it restores some of the long lost "EA love" I had from my youth.

Ok. Zone Troopers for the GDI. Seriously awesome, or incredibly f*cking awesome? They are like infantry Mammoth Tanks. Just send in three squads of them and write home because the mission is done.

They're awesome until they run into something with flamethrowers, then they die... REAL fast.

Then bring some Mammoth Tanks! Like I always say you can't have enough rail guns.

I could go on for pages about how awesome this game is but it'd be a really boring repetitive read so I'll just stick with saying that it is indeed a perfect revival of old school Command & Conquer and I love it.

I've got like 8 hours in it already and I've already got an itch to fire it up again.

I just tried a quick skirmish with the Scrin to see how they played. Really really cool, they have all the standard C&C staples while still feeling very very different. My favorite unit's have to be the Carrier (which is almost identical to the Protoss carrier from Starcraft, only you don't pay for fighters in C&C) and the mothership which is ripped right out of ID4.

I created a Gamers with Jobs Clan. Post your online ID's and I'll get you guys invited.

Made an avatar for the clan too, but it appears the upload isn't currently working on their site.

Cool, my id is Lothars I think.

So is it me or do I remember 12 years ago and Red Alert and feeling like Generals and Tiberium War finally found a REALLY nice gel. I believe my online name is bjlightnin and would LOVE an invite.

We ought to put a helmet or some optics on him. Or maybe just a few tiberium crystals.

I'm going to pick this game up once I find it for a decent price (GoGamer will probably have it for $35 next week). One thing that confuses me... why spend all that money on famous actors when you want your cutscenes to be cheesy?

I am SO bored at work today... It's a half-assed hack job, and my apologies to the original artist (Whatever happened to Sway?), but it made me laugh while working on it...

I'm not sure if there is a way to accept invites in the game or not, so make sure you check http://www.commandandconquer.com and see if it shows up there.

So this is out already? I thought it was later this week >.> Looks like I need to hit up the Best Buy after work.

I can totally see my WoW goal dying in a fire over this.

Hey Sin my Login is SkinnyJ. Shoot me one of those fancy clan invites

Well I recieved the email saying I got a clan invite but when I click on the link it asks for a username and password

It won't accept my username or password, So I am not sure maybe it's down at the moment but it's really strange

Amazon.com has C&C3 (DVD) for $39.99 with free slow-ass shipping. Woot woot. Ordered my copy, so if you guys are still playing mid-April I'll join ya.

Fire me an invite too plz. User name StylezXP1

Apparently there's another StylezXP out there, who I must crush.
