Let's talk anime.

Busou Renken Looks interesting, but also looks really sh9onen-y.. and potentially cliche'.. I'm not sure if I'm going to stick with this one..
Something about Alchemy army soldiers fighting demons or some crappity crap. The heroic lead is a schoolgirl with mechanical spider legs that come out of her alchemy powered garter belt...yeah....

Bonus Negative point: XEBEC does the animation *shudders*

Strange how nobody mentioned Studio Ghibli. Single titles were mentioned, tho. I personally am ga-ga over anything Ghibli. Even pre-ghibli. Collecting DVDs. Pity not all are released in europe.

Like serious anime, where there is food for thought. But not NGE style. That one is messed up.

Just finished watching "Fruits Basket". Fuzzyness - yes, ending - meh...

My favs:
Tonari no Totoro - lost count how many times i've wathed that one.
Rah-Xephon - NGE fanboys - stick it . I dont hate NGE its just so meh. Whiney, whiney, waaaah, waaaah. While i do understand dark nature and all that, its way too drawn out. Rah-Xephon is much easier on me gray cells, pretty fast paced and no really messed up psychopaths in the show.
Full Metal Panic - Love it. The first one. Fummoffu - meh...
Jin-Roh: Wolf Brigade - Planning to watch it again tonight. For the umpteenth time
Perfect Blue - One of them more messed up "real/unreal" shows. Pretty creepy.
GITS, GITS2 goes without saying. SAC is good, but i didnt like drawing style.
Kite Uncut - That one was seriously messed up.

I have a thing against drama and comedy, but those 2 seriously slapped me in the face:
Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien: I wouldnt wish this sort of fate to my enemy.
Saishuu Heiki Kanojo: Well, that one is without comment. There is a live action SaiKano movie btw. Have to watch it sometime this week. Pretty impressive special effects i must say. Skimmed thru it.

Some animes that i never got to finish watching:
Hack/Sign - this is a strange one, because i sort of liked it for 10 eps, but kept losing interest due to some real life events hapening. Restarted for 3 times - never finished. Weird.
Serial Experiment Lain: last 3-4 eps. same as with Hack.

Some animes i will resume when they get finished:
I totally hate ep picking week by week. So, One Piece, Bleach, Naruto and such. Good shows, but i cant be arsed to wait. When they're "full" then i'll watch.

Now, dont throw sticks at me, but i'm now watching DB/DBZ Yup, i'm going nuts. DB is done, about 250 eps of Z to go. Plus there's also GT... Watching once or twice a week.

One thing I really hated was that everything was so freaking dark. I couldn't much if any detail at all.

Especially the protagonist. Seriously lady, go easy on the eyeshadow.

I watched Rah-Xephon when it was coming out in fansubs. The theme songs are really good and some of the design is pretty cool, but other than that it's a very typical giant robot anime. If things with wings on their heads annoy you like they do me, skip it.

Oh, yeah, also check out Gun X Sword. It starts out feeling very derivative but really picks up. Also, one of the villains has a prehensile moustache.

Just finished up Ergo Proxy and it feels like they ran out of time to tell the story the way they wanted to. Lots of missing gaps of time between episodes and such. One thing I really hated was that everything was so freaking dark. I couldn't much if any detail at all.

What a timing! I just finish downloading the soundtrack for Egro Proxy... and I was going to ask about the show here.

The only anime I ever liked was Trigun.

I fell asleep with Princess Mononoke. It was kinda cool at the beginning, then I just fell asleep. Yeah, yeah, yeah, humans and technology, you don't have to bang me over the head with youZzzzzzzz....

However, that other thing, Chihiro's Journey or something, that was cool. Anymore stuff like Trigun out there? Funny, with action, some philosophical stuff now and then, cool rock/metalish soundtrack...

Let's see, what's like Trigun...

Grenadier, Trinity Blood, Hellsing, and Gungrave.

Thanks, I'll check them out, and eat a cookie in your honor =)

Mex, you should really consider trying Samurai Champloo. I don't know that it's like Trigun, but it's so much fun, and so easy to get into. Just try one episode and you'll know if you like the vibe.

Mmm... honor cookie...

Erwin - you've got Read or Die the TV series on that mega-list you've already seen. My girls just found an insane deal on it and bought it. I'm a bit concerned. Care to give a parent a head's up on it?

It's excellent. Easily some of the best anime out there. Your girls are in their teens if I remember correctly right?

Yeah, they're teens. They just turned 16.

Show sounds cool. Thanks a lot. This is the first thing I've let them buy that I haven't seen first, so I was a little nervous.

Just print out my watched list and get those. All titles on it are safe for people 10+ except Kite.

Watched Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi yet? It's excellent.

Anything new out recently worth grabbing?

I finished Mushishi and enjoyed it a lot. D.Grayman just didn't do it for me so I dropped it. Death note is very enjoyable and eagerly await for the live movies and episode 23. Desert Punk got on my nerves but I finished it and enjoyed it. Very different protagonist than I was expecting. Grenadier just had too much fanservice for me so I dropped it. I mean come on, she keeps all her ammunition in her cleavage.

Iria: Zeiram the Animation - Meh.
Karas: The Prophecy - Meh.
Le Chevalier D'Eon - Meh.
Metropolis - Meh.
Negima?! - Meh and dropped after one episode.

I also updated and threw my list onto the first post to make it easier.

I'm still reading Hajime no Ippo manga which new chapters come out every week as well as Tenjo Tenge. I need to catch up on my Berserk manga which I am about 19 years worth of material behind.

My queue is:

Texhnolyze
Requiem from the Darkness
Zone of the Enders
Bubble Gum Crisis Tokyo 2040
Geneshaft
Gilgamesh
Lupin III: Crisis in Tokyo
Lupin III: Island of Assassins
Lupin III: Missed by a Dollar
Lupin III: Orders to Assassinate Lupin
Kagemusha
Sakura Diaries
Princess Nine
Blood+
Slan Dunk!
Stormy Night - Arashi no Yoru ni
Nodame Cantabile 10+
Gakuen Alice
One Piece 218+
Nana 37+
Sumomomo Momomo
Mulan
Naruto Shippuuden (No more filler!)
Eyeshield 21

Texhnolyze starts out pretty cool, but I though it fell apart at the end. It was fun getting there though. Well, I don't know if fun is the right word. It's definitely a harsh, ugly and brutal anime, and there's a definite shortage of fluffy and lovable characters.

Glad you enjoyed Mushishi Edwin. Try Bobobobobobobo. It's, um, different. See if you can find it subbed.

One Piece remains as the only anime I actively follow, it's so awesome.

I just finished the first live action Death Note movie, and while it was decent, it cannot compare to the show with the lack of tension, urgency and brain matter.

Bubble Gum Crisis Tokyo 2040: Remains one of my favorite series of all time. May not be a A class title, but it's a fun watch.

Currently watching Bleach (come on 119), Gasaraki, and just got done rewatching some Ranma 1/2.

Pure <3, Lobster. Pure <3.

Mimble got me Kino's Journey for my birthday. It's a collection of stories, each episode being complete unto itself, some sweet, some sad, but most are quite compelling.

I watched Gasaraki dubbed, before I decided that everything should be watched in the original language. I wonder how much better it is that way? I liked it okay, but I found it very slow to start, and kind of slow to middle as well. Still, it had some really interesting stuff in it.

And Certis, your high praise of One Piece caused me to go wikipedia it, but good lord, over 300 episodes? No can do!

I think next I'll finally get around to watching Scrapped Princess.

If you want to see One Piece, just be sure to get the fan-sub. The dub they show on Cartoon Network is beyond ridiculous, almost unrecognizeable. Cue the VGcats.

Is that the one about the guy that tracks down the little demon spirit thingies? Originally called Mushishi?

That's what it sounded like to me, but it's not .

Read or Die turned out to be very well done. I want to be Maggie in the worst way. Paper Dragon Familiar = Commute Problem Solved. We ended up with the series and all the OVA's, too.

I love Gasaraki, though I first started watching it about the time the War in Iraq started and I seriously was wondering if our president had been watching it too. I kept waiting for the 7th Armored Cavalry to get their ass kicked up around their shoulderblades and then the news to show some sort of odd large shadowy silhouette.

The girls are dragging me into Bleach kicking and screaming. We love all the Lupin III's, and Blood+. Sakura Diaries was just too too girly, though.

Told you Read or Die was excellent.

Suppose I should live up to my nick at some point, so here we go. As a disclaimer, I'm not making any claims on any age-appropriateness, so I'm not going to get into that. Watch for yourself, decide for yourself; I think things work better that way anyhow.

Just finished watching a few good bits.

Simoun was slightly bizzare and disjointed, but enjoyable for what it is; a show about choices and growing up and interpersonal relationships. Oh, and there's the overt but not perverse girl-love theme spread throughout with a dash of mecha for flavor. I found it rather enjoyable.

Shakugan no Shana was pretty good; school life action/drama with a dash of romance that builds into a heavy dose near the end of the series. More of the aforementioned dealing with decisions and thinking for yourself. For those of you who have seen it, as well as the Shanatan OAVs: URUCHAI URUCHAI URUCHAI!

I'm keeping up with Nodame Cantabile, which is yet another 'slice of life' style show. There's a guy who wants to be a composer, a girl who's a natural pianist, but gets a bit carried away at times. Rather amusing, yet refreshingly lighthearted.

Another one that just finished which I rather enjoyed was Kanon. Yes, as in Pachelbel's Kanon. Naming it after the musical piece is very apt, as the show flows through the same repeating themes, over and over. Oh, and just ignore the fact that this used to be a H-game.

Others that folks have mentioned:

Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu(Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya): It's bizzare. Just know that Haruhi is the Destroyer of Worlds, and Kyon can become our savior.http://www.tsunamichannel.com/index.php?date=2006-06-30&comic=Parody

Negima?! is indeed a remake of Magister Negi Magi!. However, it's not a superior remake in any way, shape or form. The first series suffered from trying to follow the manga, and did an outstanding job up until ep 22ish. At that point, they twisted the plot aside, and crammed what could have been a good ending into far too few episodes. I'm not sure what they were aiming for with the new series, and while it's good, I'm not a fan. The art looks too bright and over the top, plus the girls are all far too caricatured over their manga counterparts for my tastes.

Upcoming on the radar:

Manabi Straight
Code Geass
Catch up on Naruto, Bleach and One Piece. Maybe.
