Homefront has long seemed like a game with at least the possibility of taking an interesting angle on the increasingly stale “modern warfare” action-shooter gameplay model that has taken root. It feels like all the companies that were inundating consolers with WWII titles a few years past have simply time shifted their obsessive single-mindedness, leaving much to be desired. Initial feedback seems relatively positive, with a few nagging dissenters here and there, but I simply can’t shake the spidey-sense that this is going to be more of the same. With Dragon Age 2 absolutely owning the pool of my shallow attention span, Homefront seems like one I’m happy to let pass by.
Total War: Shogun 2 is for me a little trickier to ignore. I’m almost grateful that my primary gaming PC is biting some curb, because a return to form for the Total War series is exactly the kind of thing I don’t need right now. I will however give it my nod for Game of the Week, and raptly follow the reports and reviews on the game.
With the 3DS, Portal 2, SOCOM 4, L.A. Noire, The Witcher 2 and, yes, Duke Nukem 4 looking to release within just the next couple of months, I think it’s safe to say that the videogame tilt-a-whirl is ramping back up to full speed. Hope you didn’t have a big meal before riding!

Okamiden is upon us already? Seems like forever ago I heard about it. Should be a great title to start saying goodbye to the DS with.

That's a lot of software for the PS3.
And you're right, the next couple of months looks totally hot. RFG:Armageddon is making me excited after the Giant Bomb QL (magnet gun ftw). That's May, I believe. Maybe June. Also, Brink, Shift 2, Stronghold 3 (at some point), Torchlight II, and a bazillion indie projects I have my eye on.

Okamiden! It's just so good to not follow a title for a while only to find out it's out already.
It's easy to play piano: all you have to do is touch the right key at the right time.
Can't wait to get Yakuza 4!
Assassin's Creed:Brotherhood for PC is out in the UK/EU this week, US next week. I'm grabbing that seeing as Ubisoft stopped using their constantly connected copy protection, and AC:B got a lot of love from the console release.
Yeah, who knew that was coming out so soon? I'm pumped.

I watched the quick look for it, too. I hadn't planned on getting RF:A, but the new weapons and free play mode that they showed (where you try to rack up as much destruction/score as possible in one minute) made me want the game. That said, I'll still probably wait for the first inevitable Steam sale.

very tempted to double dip on this one and grab the PC version (and AC2 now that they removed the always on DRM nonsense) - flippin' love that game. And it gets the Da Vinci DLC included automatically. bonus!
inactive here until further notice.
Homefront is going to depend on how you feel about Modern Warfare shooters. I got to play it at PAX East for a bit, and it basically felt CoD4 with a nasty recoil effect. The setting on at the show was pretty difficult as well, though that could be because the guy playing before me seemed to run out of ammunition really quickly.
I had a blast, but I've never really messed with the new Medal of Honor or Battlefield games. Just the two Modern Warfare titles. So to me, this seems like what MW2 should have been or what it was going for.

This is a beautiful time of year for gamers.
Do you have a link for that quick look?

Sorry guys, I meant the Assassin's Creed Brotherhood quicklook... and I found that one.

Super hyped about Total War 2 as a return to its roots, and who doesn't love feudal Japan!? So far reviews are very good. Not much of a nerdgasm on the GWJ forums yet though...

I think many of us were burnt out on Empire. I use to love the TW formula, but I've since moved onto bigger and deeper strategy games. Once Shogun 2 gets a discount I'll probably pick it up, which is what I assume a number of us are feeling.
Also, I recall how much praise there was over Empire when it was released, but the question was "does the AI blow?" and that takes some time to figure out. I'm waiting to find that out with Shogun also.

And has the answer ever not been YES! ?
Stone thongs are almost as important to preventing the spread of elves as lead toys are.
