Games You'd Like To See

Pages

Not sequels, not remakes, but new ideas or games based on other media that haven't been done yet.

Me? I'd like to see a game based on The Flash, preferably done by the guys who did Hulk: Ultimate Destruction. Something along the lines of that combined with the gameplay in Ultimate Spiderman/Spiderman 2 - and of course, with Bruce Campbell narrating as in Spiderman 2 as well. I can easily imagine this on the 360.

I'd like to see a game that is 3D adventure, and each time you get hurt or take damage, it goes through a "de-evolution" of graphic style and gameplay. One of the last 3D levels could be like the Castlevania^64 games- 3D, unplayable, terrible. Eventually, on your last bit of health, you would end up running left-to-right in a flat 2D style, like Super Mario Brothers.

I want a mother@#%Q%ing baseball game for my DS. Touch swing mechanics! Touch swing mechanics!

An MMORPG with a dynamic world. I believe someone can create a system/engine/world that can handle creating its own quests, challenges, wars, populations, empire borders... Say you're in a small town that's been attacked by goblins and had several buildings burned. The carpenters will need supplies. The city guard will need help protecting the town better and defending lumberers, the buildings will need to be built and the blacksmiths will need help supplying both the new guards and the builders. And higher level characters will need to be enlisted to strike back at the goblins. All dynamically created quests generated by the attack event.

The attack itself could have been a dynamic event based on the population and need of the nearby goblin clans.

It could all be quite complex to include economy and relations between different groups which would be quite difficult, but it would make a world that would be a lot of fun to play around in.

I was pondering this idea while working out just now. Since everyone loves to see themselves level up and the whole RPG experience thing has become ubiquitous, why not have some sort of personalized xp gathering system built INTO exercise equipment? I don't mean put Zelda on a stationary bike. I mean put up stats like XBL gamerscore for achievements.

For example: You can swipe your login card on the rowing machine and record number of watt hours generated by your workout and it accrues over time. You see how you stack against "friends", gym and the world. I'd be a sucker for this -- and thin as a rake in a matter of weeks.

So, not really a game per se, but a gaming system tacked onto something else.

Not exactly a visionary idea or anything, but I think a Marvel Ultimate Alliance style superhero beat 'em up based on Warren Ellis' comic book Nextwave: Agents of H.A.T.E. would be cool. MUA and the X-men games have all had pretty silly plots, and the Nextwave story is just so perfect for a game like that; tons and tons of ridiculous over the top action, as Ellis put it himself:

"It's an absolute distillation of the superhero genre. No plot lines, characters, emotions, nothing whatsoever. It's people posing in the street for no good reason. It is people getting kicked, and then exploding. It is a pure comic book, and I will fight anyone who says otherwise. And afterwards, they will explode."

Done right, it could be a lot of fun.

Funny you mention this, since I just picked this up for my SO.
Yourself! Fitness for PS2

Tracks your progress, and you unlock music and environments by being consistent with your workout schedule and showing improvement. Delivery is today or tomorrow, so we'll see how it actually is. Reviews were pretty good.

Well, more is not always better when it comes to exercise...I see lots of lawsuits in your future.

I want a real golf game on the Wii, with lots of courses, a course editor and the ability to swap courses over the net.

Ahh, the old UO private RP shards. They were pretty nice, for a while. (I kinda broke one by insisting on better RP realism--e.g., lumberjacks and elfy ranger hippies getting in fights. ...Stupid hippies.)

How come there's no "wistful" or "nostalgic" smilies?

I want a post-apocalyptic free-range game, ala Oblivion in 2010 North America after the nukes drop.

I want to walk through the major cities and explore the ruins of our civilization in first person. I want to go to the top of the Qwest building in Denver and look out across the Front Range. I want to admire a LoDo that's not bathed in blue light from said building.

I want to find a gun store that hasn't been looted (neutron bomb maybe?) and stock up.

I want to meet people on my travels and form my own militia to defend against the roving gangs looking for food, ammo, and women to enslave.

I want to wander through the suburbs, entering houses and looking at crisped family photos and the corpse of the family dog lying in the back yard tethered to the dog run. Opening the fridge and finding spoiled food. Finding the shotgun hidden in mommy and daddy's closet. Finding the car keys in the kitchen drawer and seeing if the H3 or BMW in the garage survived the EMP.

I want to organize my militia into a village, and prepare defenses. I want to rule the town with an iron fist since I have the biggest/most guns, or try to restore democracy and give all the townsfolk a say. I want to rebuild civilization. Or conquer the people trying to rebuild civilization.

I want to LIVE in this time, with all the challenges and options such a scenario would present.

But I want to do it on the computer. My doc says I'm allergic to radiation.

Concept 2 are really good rowing machines. They have a device to track your times and such built into the rower, and virtual meets and the like you can get involved with.

That is one of the better ideas I've heard in awhile. I think this idea, coupled with a dynamic world like Polypusher mentioned, could be amazing.

Heck, it'd be nice if they would even bother to change the cup locations on the greens for the holes they have! And yes I would also really like to hack my way through some new holes.

MMO.
Sims meets Thief meets Tenchu meets SWAT meets NFS Most Wanted meets Carmageddon
Your character 'moves' through the various modules as you progress.

Play a family as you try to make a living in the strife-wracked city. Turn to petty crime or join/form a gang. Organized crime trains highly capable mercenaries and recruits only the best. Screw up? Consider a life in politics as you organize and try to gain control of the resources this fine city harvests, both legitimate and illegitimate. Scandal ruin your chances? Transfer to the police department where the local SWAT force features high turnover rates and a lovely insurance package (Hospital visits are staffed by sim'ers who focus on medical skills!). Take your rage to the streets, where the scourge of street-racing has forced the city to barricade the sidewalks off from the regular traffic. Taking shortcuts through the regular crosswalks has become a favorite 'extreme' pass-time of the adrenaline-rush thrill freaks, and thrill-hungry weekend warriors trying to prove you can hold a 9-5 and still be 'cool.' Take charge of the Vehicular Task-force as you try to slow down the tuned muscle-tanks bored mafiosos pit against each other for thrills. Hit a barricade hard enough and watch some poor schmo's Sims get plastered on the side of the Deli. Just leave enough of your car to get away from the heat this will bring down on you! Wow! Time flies... I should be on my way home already... man that would be an awesome game!

EDIT/
This dumb computer I'm troubleshooting has to finish up first so I'll keep at it:
MMO with LIMITED RESOURCES. None of this 'hoard and sell off' BS. Limited resources with the scales tipped in the favor of 'The Man.' Raising hell with that sweet ride with the tank treads and turbo? Yeah well sooner or later you're going to hit that barricade and the cops are gonna swarm you. When that ride is sitting at the impound its up to whoever can steal it, borrow it, or buy it to continue the reign of terror. "THE SYSTEM" controls imports and exports. Enough 'straight cops' work together to disarm the gangs? Knives and chains baby! Enough 'bent cops' stream that stuff right back to the street for a little cheddar? Buy Gramma some Kevlar blankets!

The emphasis is on quick in and out. Varied gameplay. Lives are short, fast and hard. LVLS? Nope! Experiences! Headlines! You can live the Hoarding life and the 9 to 5... but at the end of the day you may be nothing more than an innocent bystander of a 2 second clip of a 4 hour rampage! Live it up!

I want a free-roaming Parkour ("Free Running") game. There was to be one released for the PSP but I haven't heard anything about it for months.

I want a real outdoor survival game. With different climates/parts of the world to survive in, tons of different ways to piece things together (ala Garry's Mod) to help you survive, realistic weather, animals, foliage, ect. An 'Oblivion' of Survival games if you will. Lost In Blue is a good start but even that is pretty linear.

...Fallout 3?

Duke Nukem Forever?

I'd like to see a game centered around climbing. The main motivation for the player would be difficult to reach locations and altitude in general. No particular setting; realistic, fantastic, whatever. Something to take what Lara Croft and the Prince of Persia do well, remove some of the automation when it comes to getting around, and then throw some vast, nonlinear terrain at the player. No enemies.

I'd like more 2d RPGs, only with the graphical style of Eets. And it should run on my Mac.

In fact, more 2d gaming goodness on the Mac in general.

Well... except Fallout 3 will no doubt have some epic save-the-world questage. I'm looking to carve my own niche in this hypothetical virtual hell-hole without any skin to save except my own. And I want a modern day apocalypse, not one from the 1950's.

Otherwise yeah, there are probably a lot of similarities.

You can play the Fallouts while RPing a less savory character. That's one of the things I really appreciated about it, actually.

I would like a good Melee multiplayer game. With dismemberment first of all. Different classes like low armored but faster, that kind of stuff. Actually, I want Medieval 2 in First Person, but with good mechanics, where fighting takes skill and a lot of concentration and is not a button smash experience.

Anyone remember the game mechanics of Severance:Blade of Darkness? Now that was some cool sword fighting. I also like the sword fighting in Dark Messiah single player. But in multiplayer is way to button smash.

I would be so over that, for like, the rest of my life.

There's the Nike+ thing for the iPod. I think it fits a bit with your description.

A Syndicate remake that has you playing as the Guerilla Marketing department of a corporation, Jennifer Government style, instead of mob hitmen.

Survival horror fps in a gigantic derelict spaceship. Mostly because of the line "The ship had been dead for millennia" in Ian M Banks' The Algebraist. A lot of the time playing would be spent in zero gravity, with the recoil from weapons knocking you about all over the place, unless you make good use of your spiffy magnetic shoes. Also: grue.

Another survival horror FPS. The premise of "I am Legend" crossed with some of what STALKER seemed set to do at the beginning of the hype. Run through empty cities by day, looting and scavenging. Hole up during the night, and try not to get eaten by what remains of humanity. Somewhere along the line, try to find out what the hell happened.

A game with the design ethos of Deus Ex, with a pinch of SWAT added to the ultraviolence, in a setting that's Ghost in the Shell crossed with Transmetropolitan and a bit of James Ellroy's visions of LA. Deal with prison riots, filthy body-mod cults and suicide memes while unravelling an evil conspiracy.

EDIT: Also, I would totally be on board for the Nextwave game. Kick! 'Splode! Broccoli Men! Fing Fang Foom putting you in his pants! Clearly it would be awesome in every way.

I've played that! It's called Sneak King.

Also: grue.

Yes. No artwork, please.

"I am Legend"

...Mega Ultra Chicken?

Did you miss Rune? There weren't differently armored classes, but it was pretty much what you describe.

This sounds great! I would definitely play it over and over and over.

As for me, I want a scalable World Domination game. I want the game to function on every level, from controlling the spy meeting an informant for a drop, to the squad of special forces raiding a rival nation's oil supply, to waging a war to conquer a small Balkan state, to waging global wars between factions.

I want the political/diplomatic aspect - elections and public unrest, debate (but no action) in the UN, bi-/tri-/multi-lateral negotiations.
I want the martial aspect - controlling not only the waging of war, but the preparation as well - procurement, R&D, and logistics.
I want the economic aspect - trade relations, production/consumption, tariffs & raiding international shipping.

I also don't want the game to end after I dominate the world. I want there to be challenges like global famine, rebels, expansion into space, etc.

I also want to be able to play against my friends. Put them in control of another country, and scuffle amongst ourselves, or band together to conquer the world.
When I take control of a SpecOps squad to raid that oil refinery, I want them to be able to control the guards. The same goes for infantry/air/tank battles. And none of this respawn stuff. If there's going to be help arriving, it will a legitimate resupply from the finite resources of a nearby base.

I would also like a game where I was, like Unknown Soldier's scenario, fighting for survival, but in a country invaded by another. Like a Canadian if the US decided to invade, or the US if China came pouring across the Bering Strait. You'd martial what defenses you could, forming a resistance against the invaders with scavenged weapons, fighting through the countryside. Making tractors into tanks and performing raids on the Chinese contingents sent in to suppress small town America.

MULE on XBox Live Arcade.

A freaking modern update to X-COM. Why is this so hard? All we need is updated graphics. Leave the rest the same, for crying out loud. What the hell is up with the real-time crap in most of the attempted clones? Bonus points if this were somehow put on Live Arcade, too! With multiplayer! With Co-op and versus modes!1!

I have always wanted to make a fantasy-RPG game with a tactical engine like X-Com. Like a blend between X-Com and Knights of Legend. Unfortunately my programming skills are not up to the task, yet. I'm looking into FIFE to get me rolling on the engine.

I sure did not, had some great multiplaying fun with that. But I want more control, Rune is also too button smashing. I want to aim the sword more reliably, and be able to strike at the exact location I want to strike. And more need of timing. Reading of the opponents model what he will do and counteract on that or die. And all this in splendid first person and with 128 people in one battle. Ah well, a man can have dreams right?
