How is Viva Pinata, hombre?

A couple of other things on tree growing: You'll know when you've fertilized at the right time because there will be a subtle happy chime sound effect, and when you exit back to the regular garden screen you'll get an "award for bonus growth" alert. If you're fertilizing isn't making a difference you'll hear a different tone.

Aha! That's it - I just needed to give it some fertilizer at the beginning, and presto - garden full of nuts! My monkeys thank you.

I highly recommend upgrading to the best possible watering can every chance you can get. The final upgrade (the One Pour Wonder) doesn't overwater and, and with it you only need to water a plant once during its entire growth cycle.

Another excellent advice.

By the way, does anyone have a banana tree seed they could send my way? I'm trying to make my monkeys happy, but I haven't 'discovered' banana trees yet. And Seedos isn't being very useful in that regard, either.

Any help appreciated!

Sure, I'll send you one. I asked you for a friend request.

Awesome, thanks! It's ready to go.

...I bought Viva Pinata.

I got a 360 and this game the other day. Enjoying it very much, but it look some time for my eyes to get used to it

Not too far into it yet, and I think I killed my snake my mistake (he ate Mickey!)

At the moment, I'm selling apples and worms for money. I suspect I'll find a good new income source soon, but I'm reading to start getting some paths and fences in there.

So, I beat a pinata down with my shovel, but not to death, but I can't get it up again. I can't seem to heal it with the Doc, and it's unresponsive to everything I try. Am I missing something?

Silly question but is there a way to keep... :|... Taffiy out of my garden? I would not really care, but they are constantly attacking my... flowers.

You could either plant more flowers or just let two of them become residents. After you have two residents of the same species no more will come into your garden and they won't eat flowers unless you tell them to. What's nice about the Tafflies is you can turn them into Redhotts and get a fair amount of money by selling them.

You could also kill a few with your shovel. Word gets around that you're abusive and they'll leave you be

Killing pinatas makes your resident pinatas sad. But yeah, if you kill that pinata species often they will stop visiting your garden for a long time.

Luna, do you know how to heal a pinata that is near death from shovel assault? I can't seem to get one of mine back to the realm of the living.

No, sorry. I've never dealt with a near dead pinata, only sick ones.

No prob. I believe it has to do with residential status. The snake had the criterion met, but hadn't changed colors yet. I ended up having to finish him off. Now I'm just hoping another appears soon.

OoC Theater, brought to you by Pinata Abuse Hotline. Don't let good pinatas go bad!

I bought the game yesterday and I was loving it... until today. What I have now is a pinata's reenactment of the Colosseum. What does it take to keep these jerks from fighting each other? I'm about to fence them all in per species but even THEN fights occur within the same species.

Is anyone having shovel wacking problems? It seems that I can hit wandering pinatas no problem. But when there's a fight, sometimes I can't target them. I can target other pinatas but the ones that are fighting. :/

You can't whack or water pinatas while they're fighting unfortunately. If you want to find out which pinatas don't get along with others you can go here. You may want to create other gardens so you can separate the pinatas.

Also remember there are a few other factors that may make a pinata upset and start attacking another randomly. Having thistles in the garden make my pinatas angry.

Hopefully I'll find out when/if my Microsoft "training copy" arrives in the mail.

I remember that... garden lady... telling me otherwise. I've also done it before. From the site you gave me:

My piñatas are fighting! What can I do?

You can sprinkle a pinata with water or lightly 'tap' a pinata with your shovel, which gets its attention, without breaking it open. However, this can make your pinata ill.

My problem is that sometimes I can hit them and break up a fight and sometimes I can't.

Thanks for the link. VERY HELPFUL.

I've nothing useful to add, except that I love this game. I never expected to, because a) I despise sim games, b) I wanted to use the 360 for shooting things, preferably zombies or aliens. But now, I see the error of my ways. Oh Viva Pinata! How I love thee! I want to take you to Massachusetts and make you mine, 'til death do us part.

EGM rumor states that Viva Pinata kart racing is coming from Rare.

Crazy addictive game. Kat and I are fighting like Lickytoads and Neutgats over the 360. Incidentally, I've added everyone from this thread to my Xbox Live list and intend on sending random things to people. It just seems like a nice thing to do

Awesome. Expect the same in return.

Well, I rented this on Saturday and had a chance to play for a few hours. The game looks, good, it's very creative and innovative but I just don't have the time to invest in it right now. I'd like to pick this one up in the bargain bin someday though.

This came from GameFly on Friday. Had a chance to check it out Saturday morning. Interesting blend of logic and experimentation. And gorgeous. After Gears and RB6, it's nice to play a 'blue sky' game.

I've finally settled on the ideal money making strategy, I think: Orchid cultivation.

A fully grown Orchid w/full bonus growth is worth 1,800 coins, and you can grow 12 or so in a single planting. If you pre-dig the holes, keep them watered, and get each fertilized three times (with green or special mix fertilizer) you'll earn more than 20,000 coins in less than 5 minutes. In order to be really efficient you'll need a waterling or (even better) a one-shot watering can. You'll also need an uncluttered garden, so you can plant the maximum nunber of seeds possible.

Bird of Paradise plants also work well, if you don't have Orchids yet.

Wow, so this game exploded on me. Started getting hard freezes everytime it started up, with all profiles. Didn't happen with any other game, so we exchanged it, and now it seems to work fine. Hope it stays that way, 99% of the reason I avoided getting a 360 for so long was due to the hardware problems people were having.

I made it to Level 50 last night... still working on getting that Chewnicorn and the Dragonache.

Has anyone tamed any sours? Do they need to be a garden resident before you tame them?

Wait, you made it to level 50 without taming any sours? Making them resident and taming them is the same thing. I forget how the spoiler tag works on this board so I won't say more.

Bennard, according to your gamercard you've tamed 6 sours. LiquidMantis is correct, taming a sour makes them become a resident.
