July 19 -July 23

Section:

This one's going to be short and sweet this week. Unless, you must absolutely buy something every week -- I dunno, perhaps you lost a bet or if you don't buy one game every week a bomb planted by the late, great Dennis Hopper blows up or something -- you can take a break from the relentless game craze of ought-ten.

I suppose a new Trackmania game for the DS is better than nothing at all, so I'll give it a friendly, yet dismissive greeting for show as Game of the Week. You could also engage in, and it feels like I should be joking when I say this, the new Need for Speed MMO, though I can't really imagine why. I like leveling up as much as the next guy, but grinding NFS races with a PC interface just sounds like a special hell to me.

Aside from that, not much else to say. Carry on.

PC
- Need for Speed World

Wii
- Zany Golf

DS
- Trackmania Turbo
- Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore
- Samantha Swift and the Hidden Roses of Athena

Coming Soon -
- Starcraft 2 : July 27
- Mafia 2 (PC, 360, PS3) : August 24
- Metroid Other M : August 31

Comments

Despite the free price tag, Alien Swarm could also be included in the PC section.

Yeah go Alien Swarm. Think we will have a few people playing...

I'm looking forward to Limbo on the 21st, myself. The Giantbomb quicklook piqued my interest.

Yes! That looks wonderfully sinister. Already got my Microsoft funny money lined up for it

Apparently there's also a Trackmania being released for the Wii on the 20th, according to amazon.

Alien Swarm all the way, baby!

There is not enough "z" in this list. Maybe:

Catz & Dogz: The Revengze of Kittiez Galore

There, that's better.

According to this post at the official NFS site, NFS World is releasing next week (27th), but if you pre-ordered, you can start playing a week early.

Also, I just checked out Alien Swarm. Looks like good co-op fun, and you can't beat free.

Dennis Hopper! *shakes fist*

You kind of have to admire a Cats and Dogs game that cribs its title from Octop*ssy. But I'm not really sure who they're trying to sell to.

It's a movie tie-in, so they're selling it to parents and kids who see the movie.

It's actually just a movie tie-in. So if you're looking for someone to blame for the horrible title pun, you need to look in the direction of Warner Bros.

Goldfinger actually, not Octop*ssy.

Guess they can't say 'p*ssy' on a kids game.

Yay. This looks like a Pile of Shame/work too much sort of week anyways.

They do say p*ssy all through the film, though. It was all through the last one and since this one actually focuses on a cat I can imagine it's worse even from being forced to see the trailer on the front of Despicable Me. I am deeply grateful that my kids are finally too old to drag me to this thing and I can repress the existence of the game alltogether.

They made me watch the first film and there isn't enough ocular bleach in the world to get the stupid off once you've seen it. Note lack of smiley.

So they took a horrible Bond girl double-entendre name, and changed the part that makes it suggestive? I think that name just created a black hole in the fabric of pop culture.

Looks like the GOTW is going to have to change. Trackmania Turbo has been apparently pushed back to December 2010:

Alien Swarm should definitely be GOTW.

totally OT but has there been any talk of trackmania coming out on the ipad? then I could combine my two most recent loves.
