NWN2 Discussion Thread - Spoilers

Folks,

I wanted to open up a thread where we could talk about the game without spoiling it for others (as the other thread is beginning to do.) So here it is. Spoilers follow!

The quest I'm stuck on is the Green Feather portion of Tamras' contest. I have to use Kipp, but right-clicking on the Man in Green never gives the drop-down menu. I've tried saving and reloading; very frustrating.

Anyone seen a solution?

Seriously...Has anyone found any relief for the Green Man bug?

You have to hold down the right mouse button (or shift & right click) to get the context sensitive menu to appear. Remember, a bug is not a bug when it's a feature listed in the manual.

Did this fix your problem Robear?

Right click? I added the ability to the quickbar, clicked on it, then clicked on the man in green. I guess that was the long way.

Eh? That's what I'm doing, as I noted above. I right-click, and whether I hold it or not, the menu does not appear. I also tried shift-click, iirc.

I'll try it again later, but I distinctly recalling click-holding.

...Quickbar? There's a quickbar? Where is that in the Tutorial?

It should be across the bottom of the screen. Boxes with numbers - WoW style. I selected Kipp, opened his abilities, and dragged the ability to the quickbar. After that I stealthed, clicked the ability (which changed the cursor) and clicked the guy in green. I failed the first attempt, but was able to get in on the second.

I had zero problems with it, I just selected Kipp and then right-clicked the man in green, you have to hold it down a bit, and then I selected the feat it is called sleight of hand I believe.

yup. Feat is sleight of hand. I had no issues with it but I'm a rogue with a troublemaker past

I *LOVE* the rediculous amount of little extras in the game.

I was dissappointed that the hair selection didn't come with a 'fro to complete the "Ladie's Man" look.

I like how they reference the past often at least while I was in the harbor, I hope this stays true throughout the game. I picked a bully and the head of the militia disliked me heavily.

I've noticed that too. The game makes a serious effort play to your alignment and past.

I wish the sidequests were a little more involved. Remember the Cult of the Unseeing Eye? Or the D'Arnise Stronghold? Or Firekraag? Those were multi-hour sidequests with plotlines all their own.

I guess in the modern development economy, you just can't spend that sort of time on something people might not even notice.

So I loaded up today, and I've got a quickbar now at the bottom of the screen (which might have been there, but I don't recall it.) However, now the right-click menu appears as advertised! Strange. First time I played, it simply did not appear.

Got through the quest this time. Thanks!

Where is the point where you can start dumping off your companions that you don't want tagging around anymore? Goat Girl is starting to grate on me.

You start getting more companions in Neverwinter. From getting the tiefling, you have to finish the fort quests, then make it to the harbor (quests along the way) , then to the city. probably about 2 hr of play (depending on how fast your are) from the fort locke quests.

How the hell do I break down doors and into locked chests?

either shift left click on them or hold right mouse button. it will bring a dropdown menu, select bash.

however, if you break into chests you will usually break items that are in there.

Okay, Goat Girl's starting to grow on me, especially when compared to Druid Wood Elf Badger Wolf Bear Girl.

If you get the chance, could you link to a screenshot or two? Maybe what your characters look like or general gameplay? No rush, I won't be thinking about this until Christmas, but I'm curious.

It kills me when she turned into a badger.

EDIT I hope that whoever voiced Goat Girl got a raise, she is fantastic. She has made me laugh out loud several times.

After encountering Qara (Hermione's Female Doggoy sister, I'm guessing), I'm starting to wonder just how more annoying the next companion's going to be.

lol They do seem to go overboard on "personality", don't they? Although, I did enjoy negotiating with the lizard priest in the first swamp adventure.

I'm curious to see what the final hour tally is on this game. Seems to be shaping up pretty good.

On a side note my framerate improved dramatically with the fixed executable but it was designed for 1.0. I get all sorts of Toolset icons in-game (doorways and triggers and such). It just really sucks that someone who pays for the game has a performance hit over those who pirate it... Doesn't make any sense to me.

I assume you mean a "nocd" patch? Many would consider that close to piracy, but I hope it's fine to discuss, since we've all bought the game. Want to give me a link to where you got it?

The next one, a gnomish bard, takes the cake on annoying.

Yeah, I believe I spoke too soon on that one. At least the rest of the party sympathesized with me on that one. I keep waiting for the paladin to start giving me some pious lecture about how unholy I am.

And I take back what I said about Qara. Give her enough ice and fire spells and she helps your party to go through just about any challenge thrown at it. No wonder the wizard academy's so worried about her.

Edit:

Upwards of 50, last I heard. Guess MW2 will have to wait for a while.

Check your PM's Morrolan.

Incidentally another HUGE factor in framerate is XFire. Running Xfire had me consistently at 7fps or so. Killing it brought me up to the 28-48 mark. This I find absolutely hilarious as it asks you to install Xfire after game installation.

Same thing happened with the FEAR release, if I recall...

A couple of things:
First, I got a huge framerate increase by turning off the option to fade out objects that are in the way. I guess that's a pretty intensive feature. It's not all that helpful either, considering that I've yet to have anything get in the way.

Second, I think somebody mentioned it before, but I'm really impressed by the use of the backgrounds. I got a free shield from the Militia leader, for having picked the Militia background.

So let's recap my ever-expanding party: so far I have an angry dwarf who's trying to become a monk, a ditzy demon-girl thief, a tree-hugging elf druid who likes turning into a badger, a spoiled little Female Doggo who almost incinerated the D&D equivalent of Hogwarts, the world's most irritating gnome that doesn't roam, a pious yet quite paladin who apparently can't string a sentence together to explain how he feels, and a dick of a ranger who thinks he's the one in charge. That's, what, seven out of the promised ten companions?

Rat Boy: I wouldn't have it any other way

Although that chattering skull from Torment still takes the cake as my alltime favourite companion.
