Let There Be Not Light!

Section:

I never played Splinter Cell. I pretty much figured I wouldn't like it based on how quickly I quit Thief, Thief 2, and Deux Ex. I came to the conclusion that I'm just not patient enough for a stealth game. So I didn't even bother picking it up when it was free with the purchase of Prince of Persia. Well, the multiplayer demo of Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow, combined with the coercive nature of some people on this site, convinced me to pick the full version up. I figured I'd run through a couple levels of the single player game so I could learn the techniques I'd need to play the multi with any effectiveness. I'm not sure what it is about this stealth game that's so much more engaging than any I've played in the past, but I'm having a great time sneaking about. I skulk about in the shadows and wait for that guard to turn his back and light that cigarette before I creep up behind him and, with just a couple of keystrokes, whistle loudly and jump up and down against him before getting gunned down. I don't really have a handle on the keys yet. Until I do, however, I've found a great game within the game. I have become obsessed with turning the lights off in that game. Admittedly, the darkness provides great cover for me, but I could be in a warehouse with one 40 watt bulb hanging inside a locked closet, and I won't feel complete until I've picked the lock and extinguished that light. The problem is that there are far fewer light switches than actual lights in Pandora. This means that my entire arsenal of guns, grenades, and spy gadgets have become my only tools in my unending quest for total darkness.IL Comic

The real trick is to learn how to move quickly enough to get past the lights without being seen or heard by others.

LOL great comic sway.

"There is no light... only absence of dark"

I suck at stealth games as well, so I got a real "I feel ya" moment there.

Looks like Sway has a new favorite fan!

HAH! This one actually made me literally laugh aloud, which is rare! This comic could EASILY be it's own site, in the running with any of the biggies. Great work, Sway!
