Saint's Row (X360) gets Rave Reviews - Say waaa?

Hmm, I admit I've never tried to soup up a mini-van so I cant say for sure. I was under the impressions that all shops with the same name had the same content

huh, I've never been able to change the rims on the mini-van. Is there a special Rim Jobs place to visit for that? I thought they were all the same.

They are all the same. Wheels are their own seperate catagory, use the triggers to cycle through them.

Checked out the multiplayer last night. First game was stupidly laggy. Though the map was fun (four buildings facing each other). The games after that were better but were on the Arena map which I found kinda boring.

That tripped me up too. There is a seperate menu for the wheels and stuff.

Same here. /shame

Any tips for the final missions of the dealer missions? 7 and 8 are proving to be a major pain! I can't keep their cars alive long enough to get home after the final delivery. Either the driver goes 'dumb' and starts ramming stationary objects, or after the driver is taken out the passengers of the pursuing vehicle unload on us with RPGs. Am I missing something?

I was only able to do missions 7 and 8 of the suburbs trafficking level AFTER conquering most of the territories involved. Whenever possible I'd recruit some guys to help out. An extra couple of machine gunners is a world of help. I still wasnt able to finish the hippy van one and havent really tried the 3rd.

Edit: One thing I havent tried is calling up one of the homies on my list mid-mission to see what happens. Never know, they might drive along and help out. Mr Wong would be my top choice. Will would be a good one too.

Remember that all the weapons you have on 7 and 8 are free, they don't take from your ammo supply so don't be afraid to unload with everything you have. Also of importance is that you can change cars part way through, on level 8 I ended up switching over to an FBI since the Dealer's vehicle got totalled.

Reeeeeally? Hmmm...... ..... that adds an interesting wrinkle! I generally just stay in the car while the dealer does his thing. The times that I left the car enemies would park up against the doors and just cause trouble... but that does sound like it's worth a shot! Especially if the final checkpoint is in spitting distance when the car finally blows up. Thanks for the tip!

I've had bad luck switching to the FBI suburban. It can take a beating (Its one of the only cars that can take a direct rocket hit and not go down) but it seems like every time I hop in, its already heavilly damaged (but it doesnt really show) and after a minute it suddenly bursts into flames and explodes without warning.

My most successful drug trafficing run was when we were driving down the freeway and the dealer's car blew so I hijacked a semi truck. Smooth sailing from there, every car that tried to ram me ended up blowing itself up with little damage to my truck.

Awesome idea

The car that you start with must have unnaturally high durability, because I noticed the same thing. Those FBI suburbans would only last a single "deal" before I had to switch to a new one. Also, if you're in need of switching to a new vehicle, I highly suggest doing it before you hit a highway; I've been smoked too many times by jumping out of a flaming station wagon going 90 mph and immediately being run over by all the pursuing vehicles.

Also, has anyone done the "Loan Office" activity? I borrowed $5000 and paid back something like $25k and have been too gunshy to borrow the $25k amount now being offered; I'm assuming I'll have to pay back $100k or some other ridiculous amount.

Additionally, does anyone have some good tips for Insurance Fraud missions? I'm stuck on level 2 and can't for the life of me score the big bucks.

Wait... 'borrow' money? I just bought the 90K sportscar, and I'm thinking of picking up another! Money is cheap, playa!

The loansharks cap at 50K, so if you have more than that you can immediately repay for 0 fun value. I waited too long to figure out what it was about and it ruined the activity for me.
On the other hand I'm finding the Insurance Scam activities to be a blast and have hit a $1,000,200 'accident.' I feel proud! (and wish I'd get to see even a FRACTION of that settlement!)

Also, favorite homie: Samantha, unlocked at one of the escort locations... the Barrio one I think.

Rezzy's Insurance Fraud Tips:
Use vehicle collisions. While Driving Civil Service cars (Five-O, Ambulance). Do it until the vehicle blows up. All my MAJOR crashes have been with the added force of my ride exploding and hurtling me through crowds of people.
Simply going limp in front of a speeding car has never gotten me over 20k. Launching myself through the windshield of a burning cop car has netter me over a million!

EDIT To clarify: Simply ramming cars doesn't work. You have to have a head-on collision at high enough speed to eject yourself from the vehicle. I don't know if the timing of the go-limp button helps or even matters, but I try to jam it just before impact. The best are if you aim for the lead car of a two-three car pack and manage to bounce off both cars and slide along the sidewalk in front of witnesses including cops. You know you're golden if your multiplier goes to "Lots." Makes me giggle every time!

I passed all of the insurance fraud activities on the map by using the cop car but repairing it between missions and when the scoring area moves. This saves you the trouble of finding a new one. You have unlimited time to get to the new scoring area when it moves. Just hit a car head on at high speed and you'll get the vehicle bonus, civic vehicle bonus and you have chance for witnesses and distance multipliers.

I get between 30k and 200k per crash, so I passed every level with plenty of time to spare, often with just one wreck.

Put the cop car in your garage, and you will always have one.

Just hold the button down, the timing doesn't matter. You don't need to explode the car to get big points. In fact, I have gotten "wasted" a few times when the car explodes, so I try to avoid it now. Use a cop car or an ambulance and try to hit another cop car or ambulance. You have to hit uncoming traffic dead center to get a good ejection. Don't waste time trying to steal an ambulance or cop car and positioning it for collision, it always makes the car disappear when you drive away.

It's easier during the day than at night as there is more traffic/peds.

My high score was about 1.2 million.

Its fun driving around the city during a insurance fraud mission. Half the cars are speeding out of control so its pretty chaotic. Lots of getting T-boned in intersections and pedestrians flying.

I do insurance fraud the old fashioned way, by running in front of cars. The key is to run right at the fast cars but off to the side so they don't swerve, then sprint in front of them at the last second. You do get more points if you drive a car, but I just find running more fun, and I still reach the goal.

I'm getting annoyed with how... twitchy the peds are.

Drive around at around 35 mph: "You could've killed me!" "Are you mad!?" "I'm gonna sue!" "You street-racing punk!"
Stop at a stop light: "I think I broke something!" "I'm calling Legal Lee!" "My husband is gonna kill you!" "You woman-hating jackass!"

For those of you looking to get some really cool cars really easily, try Destruction Derby. The key is that the cars all have nitro, so if you hit an enemy while boosting you generally blow them to pieces without taking much damage yourself. The difficulty maxes out at destroying 3 cars per round, which is really pretty easy. After 7 levels, you'll have a fair bit of pocket change, two of the armored derby cars in your garage, and a very, very nice Atrazione car parked right by the Destruction Derby activity point. Just hop in, drive it to the mechanic in the same parking lot, and poof, you've just been paid to get one of the nicest, most expensive cars in the game. I don't know if the Atrazione will continue to spawn there or if it's a one-time deal, but either way, woot.

By the way, for those of you worrying about how stupid a platinum-plated RPG (the reward for completing all Hitman missions) would look, it's not platinum. In fact, it doesn't even really look like a standard RPG. The rounds look like traditional RPG rockets, but the launcher itself is a matte gray and larger than a typical RPG-7.

I agree. While cars are the way to go - I definitely have more fun just diving in front of high-speed vehicles. The best is when you get hit at an angle and fly through the air in a cartwheel motion.

So I finished the Escort missions yesterday and thought I would share a nifty little trick that works for the Carnales section (and may be worth looking for similar locations for the others!) After you pick up the 'passenger,' drive to the airport and hit the ramp that lets you land on the roof of one of the front buildings. If you park just beyond the crest of the roof you none of the vans can get close enough to get footage. It helps even on the later missions when more objectives get thrown at you because it gives you a safe start. The vans take a few seconds to get turned around to pursue once you shoot off of the roof.

My strategy for escort seems to work. Every time a news van gets close, I stop, kill the reporter then move on. Makes things simple.

That's a great strategy. I usually drive full speed and make occasionally quick U-turns - it seems to take the reporter vans a while to make the turn and catch back up.

How does that work for you in the later levels? I did that for the first few, but once there are three+ vans spawning every couple seconds killing the reporters doesn't happen fast enough to prevent them getting their bar full.

Haven't gotten far enough in escort for it to become an issue yet.

Well you are in for a TREAT! It gets CRAZY fun!

The escort mission by the airport is super easy because you can just drive fast on the runway. My favorite mission so far is insurance fraud, I like getting hit by cars.

Okay. That's it. I'm grumpy.
Took over Stilwater. Got the credits. But now the system hardlocks if I try to start the 3rd Street missions. It's done it twice in the same spot with different conditions and I decided to quit trying for the moment.

Still having trouble with the Dealer missions. Major Annoyance: They take away my fully loaded awesome weapons to give me crappy mc-crappy crappy weapons with two or three clips. LET ME KEEP MY RIOT SHOT GUN AND GOLD PISTOLS! PRICKS!
Minor Annoyance: The final Rollerz mission. Default controls means that I had to aim, shoot, and accelerate with my right hand. My gamerclaw protested fiercely at the unusual contortions my hand had to endure to achieve this.

Now I'm worried.
Left it alone for a while. Turned it back on, played a few missions. Finished up the Snatch Activity and got the Misty Lane Dealer up to Level 8... dressed up in my new Pimp Suit and tried to activate the 3rd Row mission at the church. As soon as I pressed Y the system hardlocked again.

I think that Destruction Derby is the quickest way to earn money in the game. At Level 8, the rounds aren't very difficult, they're short (less than 2 minutes), and you get $5,000. Plus, after completing Destruction Derby successfully, an Attrazione spawns in the parking lot. Do this a few times and you'll be rolling in the dough.
