Anyone signed up for LOTR:O Beta?

I signed up too, but no word yet.

Me.... looks like 20th or so, hope you guys get in at least. Did GWJ as my guild as well.

I signed up a while ago, but if no one minds (still pretty new around here and no one really knows me) I am going to update my application to GWJ guild.

You have Serenity as your avatar and "Khoram" sounds vaguely like "Gohrammit" so I approve...however I have very little clout.

Cool to see that we have a list of people and who are putting GWJ as the guild... it looks like Turbine wants guilds to do some testing before the general public, and the more GWJ'ers we get signed up, the better our odds

ps.
Whenever anyone hears anything back on their application, please come to this thread and rub it in... er... inform the rest of us of the news...

Anyone heard anything yet about the beta? I thought I heard recently they left Alpha and have entered beta.

I haven't. Unless the Beta opens within this week and I get in I won't be able to play. I'm pushing to get a desktop but 8 months out of the year I only have an old laptop.

Check your mail, people...

I signed up.

I signed up, but haven't seen a mail saying that it started. (At least, I'm pretty sure I signed up...it's been so long...)

Does that mean you received an invite? Or are just letting everyone know how it is they'll be contacted when they do get into Beta?

I haven't received anything from Turbine in quite a while...

Ditto.

I can't say because of the NDA. Anyone else?

I wish I had an NDA to muzzle me! Not sure if you had something in your application that made you stand out over the rest of us... Maybe your ability to abide by NDAs? Gratz.

I have "the NDA" as well. Alpha 3 started 8/21.

Anyone else besides me not able to share that they got in because of the NDA?

Well from looking at the class information they have been posting on their sight, this looks completely devoid of creativity.

I mean its straight up D&D with no ties to the lore of LoTR. The minstrel class that inspires allies with song and can wield weapons but prefers the enhancements they get from playing instruments.

The champion is a weapons expert. Their skills are a special attack that increases fervor, an attribute that lets them perform special attacks. And Bladestorm, a 360 degree area of effect attack.

The hunter is an archer class that can lay traps.

Hmm, in a time of wizards, the only "caster" is a lore master who's power is based on book knowledge.

And then there is the guardian. A tank with shield swipe abilities... yawn.

Ok, so if I were designing classes based on LoTR lore I would do as follows:

Elves - 3 classes (so far)- archer/dagger ala Legolas; spinning double blade and shield guy (front line troops fighting Sauron); nature/elemental hybrid mage ala Arwen (emphasis on not being a typical druid);

Humans - humans must party with non humans or face a 25% penalty vs corrupting shadow creatures; LoTR ranger ala Aragorn - 2h fighter not an archer, heal over time (aragorn had herbal healing powers in the book) and leadership "buffs", summon undead mountain man; spearman and shield (if no mounted combat) ala Rohirim (sp?), dog pet

Halfling - fighting classes get special surprise openning attacks against humanoids (noone takes their threat seriously initially); scrapper class - has leather and short sword but uses his environment for specials (kick dust to dodge, throw bucket on enemy's head to blind, throw stones to knockdown, etc); farmer/gardener class with pitchfork and giant pig pet or bull; reveller - bumbling, dancing acrobat that excels at causing confusions/distractions, uses a beer stein, walking stick, and pipe smoking;

Dwarves - acrobatic beserker ala Gimli, equips round shield and short axe, shield swipes and shoulder charge knockdowns; reveller might fit with dwarves too; smasher class - drops gems and different types of rock and then smashes them with a giant hammer for different attacks/effects (not really in the lore but plausible)

Well, it is still fun

Champions are, at least.

They are borrowing a lot from both WOW and SWG...which I both loved.

As of this morning, I have agreed to an NDA.

Who is still beta testing this game? And if anybody is, we should meet up.

I definitely didn't agree to any NDAs this morning, and wouldn't want to meet up in the game later tonight.

I should be agreeing to an NDA after work...

I'll be downloading 2.8( something like that) Gigs of data tonight for some reason. I may or may not be playing a new free for a while game tonight!

Afterwork NDA and I are going to hook up.

I sure love NDAs. No, really. I do. We get along well.

Try 6 Gigs, I'll be done when I get home from work... Tomorrow.

*edit* 2.5 Gigs is right, needs 6g of space to instal.

Curse you DSL lite, faster, faster.

I may or may not be downloading something that may or may not have anything to do with a book series that may or may not have been written by a man who may or may not had two middle names, which I most definitely do not know.

There may or may not be a new channel on the Ventrilo server dedicated to said download...

Curses. I must fix my audio problems, so I may join Vent.

Now if I could or could not get this possible program to work or not work would be another story. It might or might not be stuck on the installation of .net.

I got an email today saying I got in but, sadly, I can't instal the game because my current computer is a glorified rock. If you want my invitation PM me and I'll forward the email to you.

Why not just download and install the .net framework and then try installing whatever you're trying to install again?
