All of us are polishing turds.

At first, though, I was really just in the GWJ guild for the chat camraderie and hints.

TerraNova talks about this a lot, and is what I was referencing when I said "being alone together".

Yup, this is what I consider to be a primary component of a truly "casual-friendly" guild: being open to people soloing but still socializing.

Fedaykin's complaint about general mmo design matches mine: you can't group (aside from City of Heroes/Villains) with people who are out of your level range and have an enjoyable experience or get any character progress.

Farscry the warlock is now far behind the "newbie" crowd, and there's no way I'm going to catch him up. I intended to keep him along, but since I want to play both Thurgarn (my paladin main) and that character, and I only play at most 2-3 sessions in a week (usually only 1 or 2 though), there's no way he can keep up. So I find myself playing Thurgarn instead, since I might actually be able to hit 60 with him around the time a bunch of the rest of you are.

I've polished plenty of turds back in my Diablo II days. My "collector" spirit couldn't resist those elusive unique elites, so I went on endless boss runs. But it's funny though, the only way of really proving your worth in that game is showing off how good your equipment is. Once I saw two kids flaming each other on how awesome their characters are, and one of them asked, "so wut r u wearing?" Must be interesting to hold a phone conversation with him...

I'll say that the Blackhand queues, while intolerable, and an absolute necessity to fix immediately via a hardware upgrade or whatever it takes, are really not that bad. I log on and start the wait process, which is usually about 5 minutes, and then just Alt-Tab and check GWJ. Or, grab my DS and play Mario Bros. for a minute. Or, play the Dead Rising demo on my 360. The same things work during long gryphon rides.

I'll be running low level quests (like DM again) soon with my alts. I'd suggest you just log him out in an inn, let him get a nice rested bonus, and bring him out when we start doing alt runs in his level range. I did this with a number of characters I figured I'd like to play, and they are all just sitting in inns. Once I see they've crossed over the level marker, I level them, then put them back in the inn and work on Vel some more.

I've never seen a queue longer than 5 minutes or so - and that usually only happens when you get on a little late during the weekdays or on Sunday.

I have characters that are on other servers - and a Horde alt on BH. But the truth is I have the most fun playing within the BH Alliance guild. Even if it's an alt it's still part of the fun for me to stay in contact with the people I know in the game. Sometimes I'll log in my hunter, who is unguilded, if I just don't want to be disturbed. But then again you can just log in a guilded character and just tell people that you're soloing for right now - we can all respect that.

I'm really tempted to create a new character now... I discovered a friend of mine was a whole ten levels above me when I logged on last night.

What's the wait time on Blackhand?

Do it! We're having a good ol' time right now. There are also plenty of people playing alts, so you shouldn't have a hard time finding someone from GWJ to play with.

Then, if you like it, you can transfer over any other characters so as not to lose your progress.

If the level inbalance gets way out of wack - or maybe if the one buddy that is still at my level wants to go Alliance - I'll definately do it.

What other classes are needed / fun? I've played a hunter on each side and an undead warlock, so I think those are out... a druid seems interesting (though I've already spent a lot of time as a night elf) as does a shaman. When's the expansion coming? November? That'd be a good time to go Alliance and play a shaman.

Any wait time kinda stinks, though. One of the perks of WoW is the speed in which I can go from the desire to play, to having fun playing (i.e., actually in a quest), to working again.

I have a whole host of characters under lvl 20; mage, warlock, druid, warrior and priest. I'm up for grouping with those, as my rogue isn't really an end game character, it seems. (Except pvp...I rulez in pvp.)

Deva, you have a bunch of alts? I don't think I was aware of that!

BTW, does everyone use the little description thingamabob for their character to put what their GWJ forum handle is? I love that.

Not everyone.
I don't. All my toons, save one, are Ducsomething. Pretty easy to tell who I am.

Yeah, same thing with Deapsee it seems. That is the preferred method, I imagine. Same with Crazy.

I wish that I had thought of that when I first logged on. My first choice in anything is always "Fedaykin", but it was taken, so I used something pretty random (from Magic, if anyone wonders). Later I saw how Deep was just naming his alts different spellings of Deepsea, so I named my first alt Fedaykinn. I imagine that I will keep that up with future alts, but it remains funny and slightly annoying to me that my main has a totally random name. If only you could change names as well as transfer realms...

All of my characters in AC were named PurEvil something, but in WoW, I really just don't care. The only character I specifically named was Eldrid, and I was a little surprised it wasn't taken (name of the main character in Sacrifice... then again, I may have misspelled it, but I don't think so).

As for the comments box, I put PurEvil in there, but that's mainly because none of my names could be tied to me otherwise, so it's just to let y'all know I've made another alt. For the most part, y'all still call me Pur, no matter what character I'm on, so I guess it doesn't matter anyway.

Just get someone to report your name for infringement.

Unfortunately, the name I want to change TO is also infringement!

They haven't fixed that yet? I think that everyone should experience each flight path once, just so the devs can show off how great their world looks from above. Thereafter, there should be a "just skip it" button.
