The Ship (You really wannna check this)

The Ship is a unique multiplayer PC game developed by Outerlight Ltd., created using Valve's Source engine. Set on a series of luxury, art deco cruise ships built by Mr X, this devilish game challenges you to kill or be killed. Once you're on board you're given the name of another passenger whom you must find and secretly murder.Watch out for security unless you want to do some time in jail, take care of yourself and keep looking over your shoulder because somewhere out there is another hunter looking for you!

I also highly suggest reading the basic game concepts.

It sounds very, very cool. I also dig the art style they've chosen a lot. I haven't been giving PC gaming much love lately but I'll definitely pick this one up. You should too!

I read all the stuff on their site, and I am definetly getting this. The fake wallet that is actually a booby trap sounded neat and I can't wait to actually try it out on someone. I guess this will be the first game that I buy directly through Steam.

Ooh, looks like an online version of Assassins. Sounds fun!

Also, I like the art style too. Kind of reminds me of Psychonauts.

The darkness of the trailer made me realize how dusty my screen is

Looks cool, like Online might have a little less frenetic pace than usual.

Holy cow that looks fun.

Wow. That looks fanTAStic. That would make for some excellent goodger multiplayer.

I'll only play if I can be Barnaby.

Expected release date is supposed to be July 11. I think I will start pre-loading this over lunch. This game looks friggin awesome.

I wasn't all that interested until I took a closer look. It's just gone from "whatever" to "will buy."

That's why I insisted on reading the game concepts. The detailed Play Guide is even better.

"You can satisfy your needs at locations all over the Ship."

That's awesome. How did this one slip under my radar? I'm in!

Looks like fun. I'm in!

How did our benevolent leaders miss this one?!

ok, aside from the overall coolness of the game, I find it hilarious that there are both "pee" and "poop" symbols. "Pee" is especially funny.

Kind of discriminatory, though. This mean that female characters can use urinals the way they were intended to?

This game has risen higher on my list than any console game or pc game combined coming out in the next few months. And it's cheap!

Let us all proceed to hype this game to unbelievable expectations!

By the way. It was Mr.Green. In the kitchen. With the waffle iron.

I couldnt find anything that says how much it is

How much will 'The Ship' cost?

Although prices are still to be confirmed the game will range from $14.95 - $19.95 as an online purchase with an opportunity to buy at the lower price for the first week after release. Unfortunately you will need access to a credit card to buy online and you will also need to install Steam to purchase and play the game. The average retail price will range from £19.99 UK to 29 Euros or $34.95. These prices may vary depending on your location and other factors beyond our control.

$19.95, but if you pre-order through Steam, it's 25% off. So, it's $14.95. Very top of the Steam store tab has the banner ad, at least it did when I just opened it.

edit - too slow of a typist

Thanks guys This sounds pretty innovative. Ill probably grab it.

I edited the title of the thread to remove "HL2 mod". It's a standalone game using the source engine. No need to have HL2 to play this.

That does sound compelling. I'll read your reviews before I will buy it myself.

The Ship was a free mod for Half-Life. I like the idea that modders finaly have a way to get something in return for what they do.

Finally.

Thank you, Dino. I was about to be all, "QTF? This thing's been in development so long, the design doc is on papyrus!!1!1!"

Even though it was a free mod, if you check out the FAQ on the site it says that they've made it much better and prettier, and cleaned things up for a commercial release. I think that alone is worth the $15 or whatever.

Did anyone play the original? Was it any good? I'm hesitant to spend anymore money right now since I am apartment hunting.

Something tells me this game is going to be very prone to being ruined by players.

Lobster, what's on the picture? It doesn't show (Tripod thingie).

Pretty much any game I play outside of Goodjers, family or friends is ruined by asshats - I expect this to be no different

Read all the rules and stuff on the site. I don't think it'll be any worse than any other online game. They've done a good job with the design to avoid asshattery as much as possible. On paper at least.

But anyway, I'd rather play with Goodjers. Hence me spamming about this here. Imagine the joy of seeing that "Swat" is your quarry!

This will almost be as fun as Lobster's mom. Almost.
