Games are entirely based on sets of rules. Since Pong's brief but cryptic “Avoid missing ball for high score," every video game has used instructions to describe the game. Messing with the instructions is like messing with the very basic laws of gaming. Which is why I love it so much.
Obey the Game is a game that constantly plays with the rules. It's a simple Wario-Ware style game from the makers of Achievement Unlocked that gives you control over the same, familiar elephant in a room full of hazards. However now he's traveling forward between rooms and each room has a new set of rules. One room may be “climb the steps” while another may be “gather.”
The trick to Obey the Game is that you are randomly told to disobey the rules. So while a room's instructions may be “gather,” you may be told to “DISOBEY” in a bright red text at the beginning of the room. Then, your job is to not gather any coins at all. As the levels speed up and the music gets more frantic, this becomes very difficult. You lose a life each time you fail to obey or disobey the rules, and gain a life for every three rooms you successfully complete.
There are several gameplay modes and rooms to play through, but the basic gameplay is a simple but hilarious way to show how easy it is to bend the rules in games.
Why You Should Check This Out: Obey the Game is a hilariously fun, quick little game where you're randomly told to obey or disobey the rules. A Wario-Ware style game that features a series of rapid-succession minigames, it's a test of the reflexes as well as an example of how easy it is for a game to mess with your head.

Glorious. Hilarious. Maddening. And yes, Achievement Unlocked is sublime as well.
I had played another silly (and great) think-fast game a while ago and I couldn't recall its name or where to find it again. It turns out to be Four Second Frenzy by the same author, "John". I should probably check out his other games, too. Actually, I should probably be working. Hmm.
Steam: Archangel
Gets fast a little too quickly, especially since it doesn't explain what some of the commands mean ("romance?"). I don't like that on some stages, doing nothing at all is the correct (or incorrect, depending on the flag) course of action.
Certis: Quintin is both smart and attractive.
Fedaykin98: Good lord, I wouldn't have expected brilliance like that from that nemeslut Quintin Stone!
Yonder: It's weird to say this, but Quintin Stone may be the wisest person here.
The do-the-opposite stuff hurt my brain.
Fun little game, though they still have yet to top Achievement Unlocked.

I didn't figure out how to do the block thing. 82 levels.
Backloggery
Block is annoying.

Big fan
top score of 73 on normal mode... pretty tricky at faster speeds.
...I've noticed that mine is very tight, it needs quite a lot of force and I'm not wild about that - MrDeVil909

Fun game. Definitely a quick play for when I have a few minutes to waste.

Romance:
Obey = run to the female elephant (she's female cuz she's pink
Disobey = commit suicide (run into the spikes)
Steam
Man, some of those are nearly impossible even at normal speeds. Once you reach magnitudes of x10 and higher, things like Dodge, Survive and Ride The Cloud are basically 50/50 shots because you can't react fast enough.
Surprisingly, I did manage to get a great score on my first run. 325 levels, 85.54% win rate, highest speed of x33.4 and a 48 level streak. Top 10%, too; ranked 1628th out of 25495. I have screens if you want 'em.
I wonder if there will ever be any Obey! The Game tournaments with cash prizes?
Reminds me of Grid, that gamer instinct game. Actually, I'm pretty sure the same people do it, the aesthetics and extremely base gameplay are very similar.
I rather like the games where they just run with the very essence of what a game actually is is rather fun.
It's like looking at a mobius strip of hypocrisy, really.
