NOCD - Easy Solution?

Hey guys, please remove if unethical or what not, but is there some sort of solution for using a nocd kind of crack for my PC games?

I guess I've been spoiled with launching CoV, Guild Wars, Half Life 2 and WoW without the CD, so I'm finding some games to be a pain in the arse.

I don't trust any of those "sites" especially when it comes to executables.

Is there some sort of software solution to this?

I've had great success so far with Virtual CD. I heard good things from a coworker, so I'm working on the trail version now, but I was able to make virtual discs for Rise of Legends, X-Wing Vs TIE Fighter, TIE Fighter and Impossible Creatures for my son. It is extra important to avoid having kids handle CDs and CD trays. I've already lost one drive and 3 games to carelessness, so I'm pretty sure I'm buying the full version of Virtual CD. (This assumes that you do, in fact, have the CD to create a Virtual CD from, but I don't want to light that fire).

As far as I'm concerned as long as I have the game there is absolutely nothing unethical about using a cracked executable to keep from having to pull out the dam cd anytime I want to play a game.

I haven't heard of a software solution that works on any and all games though, and having virtual cd's of every game you play can get pretty demanding on HD space.

You can use mini-images for some games. I use one for Dawn of War: Winter Assault that is only like 5 MB or so and removes the need for the discs. Some games you can run the executables like securerom stop 7. Just be vigilant on virus scanning (I use nod32), and keep the firewall/router monitored if you think something is going on. There isn't a magic bullet solution since most games use different protections.

I'm afraid there's no ultimate solution. You just have to find cracks and various workarounds for each individual game, as now most of them use Securom/Starforce and other methods of invasive "protection", which is not unlike the kind of protection offered by the mafia.

I use Alcohol 120% to put an image of the CD onto one of my drives. Then I mount the image when I want to play the game. No cracks, no CDs. Now, just don't ask how I came to get Alcohol 120%.

You bought it, but of course.

Alcohol 120 works great for me as well. I burned images for BF2, SWAT4, Dawn of War (plus WA) and Rise of Legends. I got talked into Alcohol while playing NWN and struggling to find play discs etc.

So, chalk up another vote for the power of Alcohol 120.
