" Buy my new album "

10,000 Fists is the Disturbed album, I think.

I heard their single on the radio the other night, and I must say it's following a trend I have noticed where groups that I use to love put out new cds that I just don't find interesting. I guess I can't really pass judgement until I hear the whole thing a couple of times though.

GENTLEMEN! Does this look... INFECTED?!

1000 Days is the opening track on Alien Ant Farm's sophomore album 'TruANT.'

I <3 Adam Jones' art. It fills me with emotions that are arousing, yet disturbing.

I have heard the album several times and I think it's fantastic. Don't want to ruin it for anyone, but you should give it a listen if you are a fan. Some interesting new ideas, in my opinion. I'm going to check them out in Oakland on Thursday and I can't friggin' wait.

I'm looking forward to this one as well. Lateralus remains one of my favourite albums of all time.

I take it tomorow.

I've listened to the albums a few times as well, but it hasn't done anything for me. Tracks like Wings For Marie are supposed to be astonishingly beautiful, but I'm just not moved. I'm sure I'll still buy it, I'd hate to have a hole in my collection and the artwork and liner notes looks to be stellar, but I'm just not into it yet. I'll keep trying.

All's I'm sayin' is 'give peace a chance.'

I saw them last night. They played some songs off the new album and they absolutely rocked. The crowd didn't quite know what to do, but I feel safe in saying that this album will deliver. They all sounded great, but Justin Chancellor and Danny Carey have gotten so much better, which is crazy because they were excellent to begin with. Side note: I like the art direction for the new album. Their visuals were very colorful and hypnotic, less disturbing than before. I am going to put up a full review of the show in my Coachella thread later tonight.

Probably had not heard the songs too much, if at all, so they're like " I can't react unless I learn this song. "

Alex Grey ftw..........

Danny Carey is the greatest drummer in music today. Not rock music, not metal, but ALL music. Glad to hear the show rocked, Dutty.

I'm in total agreement. I've seen them a couple times, and I always go for the up high seats just so I can see the drum set better. Freakin' awesome. I've only heard Vicarious so far, but if the rest of the album is half of that it will remain in my cd player for a solid month (much like Aenima and Lateralus did).

Lateralus is one of the better constructed albums I've heard, and definitely the artwork that rivals Iron Maiden- Somewhere in Time, Queen, News of the World, and various Yes albums.

I will say this much: Vicarious is the worst song on the album. So that's a good thing, right?

What, did Billy Cobham die and nobody tell me?

I downloaded this a few days ago but haven't had time to really evaluate. You can't really judge a Tool album until you've heard it multiple times. I'm anxiously awaiting this, with money in hand. I'll be picking up the Dimevison DVD tomorrow too.

True - though that's not exclusive to Tool, just complex (or at least somewhat complex) music on the whole.

I've heard the album once through, but I think the .m4a's were taken from a rough mix or something. I downloaded a new rip and hopefully it's not the EQ nightmare of what I first heard.

So... I was promised this for my birthday on the 29th. Do I manage to hold out that long?

[Edit]Amazon says I am weak.[/edit]

Good pick. I'll stick in the Carey camp though.

I haven't heard any of it yet, but I'm pretty much guaranteed to like it, so I'm headed out to pick up this and the new Pearl Jam first thing tomorrow morning.

My buddies and I are calling tomorrow Toolsday. I've avoided the leak, because I need to wait for the entire experience buying the album, holding it in my hands etc...

I'm the biggest Tool fan in the world. Extremely dissapointed I could not get tickets to the Boston or NYC shows this month.....

Heh. I used to think like that. Then, when I finally moved to an all-digital music listening experience (ripped CDs to a big file server, got a big iPod and a plug in the car for it, etc), I found I didn't miss that stuff as much as I thought I would.

Now, the idea of carrying around these big round platters that only carry ~70 minutes of music, and shoving them into slots to play, just seems so hopelessly archaic.

I look forward to having kids someday, and trying to explain to them what a vinyl record is (was). They will find the idea so absurd and intolerable.

Tool never dissapoints with the packaging, it's all about the experience man, the experience!
Of course, it will be promptly uploaded to the iPod. But after I listen with my good headphones, cd player, and a cold beer.

As much as I frackin love Carey, I do think that Mike Portnoy is the best drummer in music. Alone, Tool's musicans are not the most talented ones out there, but together they combine to make the best band. Kind of like Captain Planet..

I have 9 or 10 Tool T-shirts. I wear one every Tuesday. For me, there's a Toolsday every week!

You make it sound like they're some sort of mediocre. Granted, the guitar's aren't all that technically, but the rythm section is frickin' brilliant.

I dunno, when I think of Tool I think of vocals first (Hooker with a Penis, Ticks and Leeches are (no pun intended: vicariously) awesome larynx torture chambers; then song structure, Parabol/Parabola and 46 and 2; followed by ear candy like Die Eier von Satan, No Quarter.

'Loved Opiate and Undertow when they came out. Had Aenima(sp?), but it was stolen. Never owned Lateralus, but have often thought that I should.

Also being a bassist, Paul and later Justin were highly influential in getting that "beating the strings with a hammer" bass sound that they do so well. They weren't the first ones, to be fair - but they've done a good job taking it further.

Sadly I've never had the chance to see them live, although I am looking forward to hearing the new CD at some pont.

My sister got it from Target for $10 today. Probably just an opening day sale. She's tormenting me about it!

It's on sale just about everywhere for ten bucks. That's what I paid at Best Buy. I saw it for that same price at Circuit City as well, though they only had like 4 copies to Best Buy's hundred.

Also: It's awesome.
