EDIT: for extra nerd-credit - how many digits of pi do you know off the top of your head? I've got 8 after the decimal and then I'm guessing. Shameful, I know.

I saw on CNN or one of the news networks where some super nerd kid had 85 digits of pi memorized, which might be some sort of record. Fedaykin98 claimed he could memorize that many, but wouldn't put up when I was offering him a bet on it. For the record, I have trouble memorizing my driver's license number.

No way is 85 a record unless the kid can't talk yet. Maybe 85000. I remember some show years and years ago where they were talking with someone who had memorized the first 10000 or so digits of pi, and the person was talking about their favourite segment. Now that was nerdy.

That one is almost as good as "T - I - O - N, shun shun shun shun...." (which btw is how I learned my pronuciation...)

Turns out you're right... a quick google shows a 59 year old man who memorized pi out to 83431 decimal places. I'll just take their word for it, because I'm not going to proof his work, and anyone who wants to proof his work is just as crazy as he is. People are krazy.

ps. according to the Pi World ranking list, 85 would put the kid at 65th or 66th on the list, as the 83431 number has yet to be verified...

I once gave a guy this number so he'd stop bugging me. He actually believed it was my number.

In random, but slightly related news, guitar virtuoso Steve Vai was born on 6 June 1960, which means he was six years old on 6/6/66.

Why would an Australian 80s band write a love song about Wayne Gretzky? Huh...

A Math major buddy of mine knew the first two or three hundred digits of pi. He'd try to remember them when he was drunk and keep screwing it up and restarting. Very amusing.

Man, that's so freaky. There was this one time when I met a girl at a club and we were having this really great time and I invited her back to my mom's house for something to eat and she said she couldn't so I beg...er, asked for her number and she totally gave it to me but I never remembered to call her but then there was a song and it was the same number! How freaky coincedental is that??

This is for anyone unfamiliar with the pinball machine.

Awsome find Awkward. God bless the internet wayback machine.
