Ok, I suck at spoiler tags, but I've officially run into the most obnoxiously hard character ever. For those of you looking for a decent set of Heavy armor (or a boatload of cash), the Umbra warrior makes another appearance. But the sword kinda blows this time, I'm keeping it only because I'll want it for enchanting later. There's a Aylied Shrine northwest (maybe north-northwest) of the Inn of Ill Omen. Inside there's a two area dungeon which is basically just rats and the occasional mud crab. But the dungeon also has some scary traps, including a trap floor that falls into spikes and a gas chamber trap. Basically, I had my argonian lure her into the poison gas and kept evading her as much as possible till she fell to get her full suit of Ebony Armor and the sword, but as a light armor character who just got the full DB suit, it all went to sale as high as possible in the attempt to raise up cash for my house (most of which was killed when it came time to pay the fines on murder to join the DB -_-)

unpronounceable, what quest was that for? And I hope this will be true for all the quests...

I'm at work atm, so I don't have access to exact names of everything, but I found the statue in Vivi-something-or-other - the shrine that is just east of the starting sewers. I was just exploring - no quest - then, when I went into Imperial City for the first time I sold it at a random shop and began walking around talking to people. Soon, the servant ran up to me with the invite.

uhh, I am wondering what would happen if you killed a key NPC, would the quest giver ask you to go resurrect him/her?

If they're key then they just fall unconscious.

Umbra the sword or Umbra the orc? I killed him in Morrowind and threw his dinky sword into lake Pelagiad.

Danjo, as a note, the warrior had no name. He says he will just go by the name of his sword. Anyway, the sword is there, the woman weilding it is a pain in the arse to kill, took me a good 10 tries until I finally lowered the difficulty for the battle. Anyway, the sword isn't anything particularly great, just a long sword with a soul trap enchantment.

lotsa money makin tips in this thread. Don't be afraid to take a gander back a few pages.

We can handle this a bit more delicately.

Fatality, we're not that kind of community here. Perhaps you should read the terms of use before posting again. In general, we're here to help each other out because we share a common interest, not for something in return. If you need help on something, ask politely, don't try to bargain.

If that doesn't sink in, perhaps you'd be more comfortable here.

Not particularly great? Its the strongest sword in the game damage wise.

Certis, I just double checked and found that for "bound bow" spell you can get it from Athragar ( the short little elf dude ) in Chorrol mage guild.

the paintings are evidence that you need for the last part of the quest chain that involves you figuring out who stole the painting of the count of the Chorrol. From the look of it you got one more evidence to go, and it is the foot steps in the dinning room. After you have all 3 evidence go accuse Chanel and after she confesses, go tell the countess what you found

Hey I have been playing for a while now, and i have two questions. First i am at the rank of a silencer in the Dark Brotherhood and i am on the Mission to kill the Khajitt in Bruma, However, he isnt at his house and hasnt been there. Is this a bug in my game or am i doing something wrong? I follow the arrow to his house and then go inside and the arrow then points to outside, i go outside it points to inside. Any insight would be great. Also, i have found the shrine of namira and although i am over Level 5 it says i am too pleasing to accept this quest, how do i become unpleasing? Any help is great thanks alot

* Minor Vampire Spoilers*

So my character turned into a vampire when I was playing this evening. I didn't even know I had contracted the disease.

I initiated the cure quest and returned back to my shack on the waterfront in the Imperial City. The disease has progressed a few stages and wandering around in daylight is a deadly affair, but my character doesn't want to start feeding on people. So, I'm laying low, traveling by night. The lifestyle has also turned me into a thief, since now I have to break into shops after hours in order to get any supplies.

My most recent break-in was a magic shop to pick up some alchemical supplies, and I lost track of time and stepped out into the daylight. I ended up running to the sewers with my skin smoking, and there I sit, waiting for darkness to fall again.

Ahh ... the glamorous life of a vampire.

Seriously, though ... it's actually pretty fun. You get some pretty insane bonuses to attributes and skills, and it's a challenge to try to operate on the fring of society. I will probably take advantage of my newfound strength and clear out a few dungeons before I get back to the quest for a cure.

Feed. Just do it. They don't need all that blood.

Though I'm not a mage by any means, I fulfilled the individuals mage guild recommendation quests to get further into the university for thieving purposes. While snatching books what do I find but the alter of enchantment. After a little expiramentation I settled on The Thirst of Sithis, an ebony bow with around 70 drain health for 2 seconds and soul trap for 2 seconds. Coupled with Azura's Star I am now a forced to be reckoned with. So long as I occasionally fight a non humanoid I'll never have to worry about the charge running out. I love the sound it makes upon stealing a soul. It's like the weapon is crying out for more souls, hence the name.

Can you no longer make constant effect heal armor/trinkets now? Heaven help the populace once I figure out what that full set of glass will become... chameleon maybe?

Is there a way to delete spells?

Horse front: So I tried killing my evil black horse but apparently it was immortal. I tried filling it with arrows, hacking at it, and even drowning. No luck. I went and bought a normal horse to replace the evil one. The normal horse could be killed. So far no creepy horse appears when I fast travel. Woo hoo! Here's hoping the horses immortality was not an indicator that it was necessary for guild advancement. If it is, screw it, I'll just hunt down all the Dark Brotherhood. Who are they going to complain too, the law?

So this skeleton key thing, it completely negates my security skill doesn't it? I labored over hundreds of display cases, chests, etc. to get my lockpicking this proficient and any barbarian could force a lock with this, right? Lame. All that leaves for security is pickpocketing which has been useful once.

Are these Oblivion Gates respawning or will I eventually kill them all? I like the source of souls and daedra hearts but they really ugly up the landscape. There's too many.

Anyone found ten Nirn Roots yet? I'm very curious as to what the Explorer's potion is. I must admit the first one I found was either eaten or thrown away. It wasn't until later that I noticed the Nirn Root count in the statistics menu and looked for the quest. D'oh. Stupid thief mentality, "If it's just lying on the ground it must not be worth having"

There are quite a few Nirnroots in the southern shore area... I think I ended up finding about five there, and it's entirely possible I missed a few, they are scattered around, some hidden behind rocks, etc... Got six now, and really wanting to find those last four so I can get this potion already. I'll let you know if I find anymore. (of course, I have yet to even go to the suggested mountain area to look, might have to do that a little later...).

As for the main quest, all I've done so far is go into the first Oblvion gate... I'm curious to meet Martin, but that's about it so far.

As for Umbra. I'm not skilled in blades at all, so I had no idea it was worth anything more than the house levels of money the thing could give me. I DO like that it weighs nothing, nice little perk for carrying it around all the time... just kind of annoys me that I'll never be able to sell it because no one has that kind of cash in their stores. Oh well.

Oh yeah, and I love the Dark Brotherhood quest line, progressively getting more and more difficult and stealthy... but this whole no chapels thing kind of blows at the same time. Not happy with that... but it just means I drop more cash at the alchemists, not a whole lot more.

For you DB members, how much infamy do you get for each DB quest that you complete? And and what point does the Nine abandons you guys?

I've found 26 Nirnroots. Just look around bodies of water, all over the place. They aren't hard to find though the quest rewards suck anyway.

Are you sure there isn't another doorway directly above or below the interior or exterior doors? Perhaps you're going into the wrong level of the building, or maybe he's hiding in his basement or something. The compass indicator would appear to be pointing you back outside when it's really pointing to another door above or below you.

lobster, besides the spell, is there anything else you can get from that quest? I am thinking of just keeping all the roots that I find since it seems pretty rare, and may be good for potions. What is the spell anyway?

It's not a spell, but a potion that a guy makes for you. It's essentially a potion of Nighteye.

I think that's the only use for them. Not sure you can even make your own potions using them, but I don't use alchemy often.

Yeah, the prize you get for the Nirnroot quest is pretty lame. I'm still saving them, though, in hopes of a bigger pay off after two or three rounds of collecting.

On to the main event of this post, though:

Skimmer warning: you might not want to skim this post.

Irony is a cruel, cruel mistress. Just yesterday I was telling Fly not to worry too much about breaking quests, and then last night I stumbled upon on of the easily breakable quests myself. The following spoiler regards one of the mage guild recommendation quests, but trust me, you WILL want to read it, especially if you are playing on the 360. On the PC you can unbreak the quest with a simple console command, but 360 users will have to either go back to a previous save game or wait for a patch. Luckily I had a save game that wasn't too far back to revert to, since who knows when the patch will come (it will come though; there is quite an uproar about this on the official boards). Anyway, here goes:

spoiler about easily breakable quest wrote:

When you go to get the recommendation from Leyawiin, you will be sent to fetch an artifact from a nearby fort. Once you fight your way through the fort and pick up the artifact up, you will be given a quest update that says you should return to the quest giver immediately. This is really supposed to be a ruse so that you don't expect what comes next. On your way out of the fort, one of the other guild mages will try to accost you.

YOU MUST TALK TO HIM, KILL HIM, AND LOOT HIS BODY.

Do NOT do as I did and run the hell away because there is a big scary monster on your tail. If you run away, the mage will be stuck behind an unpickable locked door when you return, and you will not be able to finish the quest even though the 'ruse' quest update says you can return to the quest giver now.

There will always be something like this that will slip through QA, but it is a shame that it is on such a vital quest. Anyway, just be warned, especially if you are playing on the 360. I'm going to go cross-post this on the other Oblivion threads, for those who aren't reading this one.

Easily breakable? That door locks like that to keep you IN so you HAVE to deal with him. You must've been moving FAST.

Hmm it is a shame if you cannot make your own potions with the root

However I did find more about the roots from the Oblivion Wiki: (higher quality version of the potion that you can make is actually quite good)

If you have LOTs of Nirnroots wrote:

Quest order:

-> Once you collected the 10 Nirnroot samples and bring them to Sinderion in his cellar at the West Weald Inn, he will start making you a Weak Elixir of Exploration (Fortify Health by 20, Night Eye all for 300 seconds).

-> He says that to make a more powerful elixer, bring him 20 more samples. When you return 20 Nirnroot samples, he will start making a Moderate Elixir of Exploration (Fortify Health by 20, Fortify Fatigue by 20, Night Eye all for 300 seconds).

-> He says that to make a strong version of the elixer, bring him 30 more samples. When you return 30 Nirnroot samples, he will start making a Strong Elixir of Exploration (Fortify Health by 20, Fortify Fatigue by 20, Night Eye, Fortify Blade by 5, Fortify Blunt by 5, Fortify Destruction by 5, Fortify Restoration by 5, Fortify Sneak by 5, all for 300 seconds).
-> There is a grand version of the potion for 40 Nirnroot

Time to start flower picking

So let me sum up the Nirnroot quest...

Everyone: Man, we don't know anything about this extremely rare plant! We've never even seen anything like it, but we think it's a Nirnroot! Go see this dude.
Dude: Oh, yeah, I know everything about it, and here's a published and commonly available book about it. The thing's nearly extinct. Go pick 100 of them for me. Make sure not to leave the roots behind. I'm going to crush them and sell them for profit.
You: OK.

I had two f*cking will-o-the-wisps on my tail, you bet your sweet ass I was moving fast! I should have known that something was up when the wips killed him as I was running like a coward, and I got the "[NPC] has gone unconscious" message.
