Oblivion Mods

Pages

Hey cool I thought of a thread that wasnt already covered by the other Oblivion threads!

The first mod (so claims the site) has been released

It allows you to adjust the passage of time (in game) to be either slower or faster.

I could use a time mod for work right now...

Obviously this is for PC only. Us 360ers dont know what Bethesda has planned for us yet.

Edit: A link might be good.

There's a nice collection of current Oblivion mods here: http://www.tessource.net/files/index...

Morrowind mods on the left, Oblivion mods are on the right colum!

Bill Harris posted a nice little "mod" to zoom the camera back a bit when talking to people, it's really great.

DQ reader Fredrik Skarstedt solved my only complaint with Oblivion (the nasty, closely zoomed-in faces during dialogue exchanges). Here's the fix:

In "My Documents / My Games / Oblivion" you'll find the "oblivion.ini" file. Do a search for "fDlgFocus=2.1000". Raise this value to pull the camera back during conversations. I set it to 4 and it's a LOT better.

I set it to 5 and it's a huge improvement.

I set it to 5 too, much better!

what is the unmodded day length anyway? Is there time limit at some point in the game?

And thanks for the heads up guys

1 minute real time=30 minutes game time, so a day is done in under an hour

In case you guys missed this one over at gamefaqs.com:

Unlock Print Screen (PRTSCN) button
There is a setting in the INI file:
bAllowScreenShot=0

change to:
bAllowScreenShot=1

Also, two related items for the screenshots:
iScreenShotIndex=0
SScreenShotBaseName=Oblivion

There are two INIs, one in the game folder called "Oblivion_default.ini", this is the one it uses to generate the REAL one....
My Documents\My Games\Oblivion\Oblivion.ini

Edit the first one if you want to default to having screenshots on by default for all users. The settings it uses at runtime are the ones from My Documents folder.

After you mod the INI file, you can press PRTSCN button and Oblivion will write a BMP file to your game folder.

Now start posting your Screen shots!

Am I the only one who doesn't mind the crazy zoomed in faces? I suppose it would be nice to see a bit more of the body, but I just don't get all the uproar. I think that the faces look fine, and that getting up close allows you to see the wonderful job that was done in adding subtle expression changes during dialog (turn off the subtitles and watch the faces as people talk, and you will really see what I mean).

I think most of the animation and 'expression' is around the mouth, which seems to be where they want you to look since they got the lip synching pretty good. Unfortunately for Oblivion, emotion is expressed through the eyes, and if I stare at a character's eyes while he/she/it is talking to me, I see nothing staring back at me.

We do traipse through the uncanny valley to be sure, but I still contend that what they have done is pretty admirable nonetheless. Getting a system of randomly generated faces to convey even the amount of emotion they do across so many hours of dialog is not a small feat.

I guess I'm still along on this, though. Oh well, I'll go back to not minding my super zoomed in faces quietly, then.

This is probabaly one of those RTFM thing huh? For some reason i cannot find it in there, sorry. But thanks for the explanation.

nah zero, I am with you on this one I don't mind the close up of NPC faces, it feels mroe personal that way.

I saw it on a mod page for one of the time-mods. I doubt its in the manual. The manual wasnt a very exciting read anyways

I like the sound of this mod It allows you to summon 10 creatures instead of 1.

I dont think I would want 10 personally, but 3 or 4? Definately.

It's my least favorite part of the game. Especially when it's the Dark Elves. Ick.

The mod I posted zooms it out so you can see from the chest up. So you can still easily make out the faces and expressions, you just get a bit more breathing room. I don't like feeling like I'm about to make out with every NPC I encounter.

Then you're playing it wrong.

Wow, sure didn't take long for the modders get started. Time mods to make the days longer, removal of Fast Travel, and removal of icons from the compass.. nice stuff.

<3 the bigger invenory one. More than 6 items displayed at a time is very nice.

Yeah, but I'm expecting to see a lot less "original content" for this one due to the higher polycounts and the bumpmapping on the weapons. I've made skins for games since Unreal Tournament but bumpmaps are intimidating. So not sure we're going to see pauldrons added in.

I like the zoom out mod that Certis posted, I do have one little problem with it though and that is it kinda makes it hard to do the speechcraft mini game.

What resolution are you playing in Edwin? That mod doesn't work well for higher res. Also, I wish there is a mod that could make things lighter... My char cannot carry anything it seems

The "feather" spell is your friend. You'll need at least a 25 in alteration, but once you are there you can add 50 pounds to your carrying capacity for a long enough time that your magicka will recharge a long time before you need to cast the spell again.

Try lowering the number a bit, you might find a sweet spot.

Ya, I've got mine set to 4 and the speechcraft game is still doable. Depending on the face, the 2 middle ones are sometimes hard to tell apart, so you might even want to try 3.5.

1200 x 750 (16:10)

thanks, that is a interesting res.

zero: while +50 to capacity is good, but most hammers weigh as much as 40 (lbs?) so a lot of things still have to be left unlooted

I had to dial down the res for performance. 1440 x 900 wasnt cutting it.

Full size map mod. I love how the entire UI is in XML so anyone can change things around. I already use the inventory one to double the amount of items on screen.

Glass Warhammers weigh 75 pounds.

Shrink the Crosshair Mod:

Simple but effective.
