Heya all. Just reactivated my WoW account last night and am looking to start a new char or two. I know that there were threads about this before, but I'd like some more recent information. What sorts of classes are in short supply in both Alliance and Horde guilds (can you post servers as well please)?
Server is Blackhand... I think alliance needs priests a good bit... but you can pretty much play anything you want.
With those new talents coming to priests, the shortage may soon be over!

On Alliance side we have a good mix of people levelling up. If you plan on quickly reaching the 55+ crowd, we could use warriors, warlocks and priests. But really play what you'd like best, we make sure there is always a place for anyone.
Priests and warlocks are pretty much the standard shortfall everywhere. The changes to the priest talents will result in a huge supply of abandoned level 25 priests. People used to DPS classes will shriek "ZOMG BUFF!!1!" and roll a priest, then eventually learn they still have crappy DPS compared to actual DPS classes, and in groups other people expect them to heal instead of DPS for some odd reason. Soon they will return to their life of shrieking "ZOMG HAEL NUB!!1!" and the priest shortfall will remain.

Moon,
There's always room for more with the Blackhand Alliance. As everyone above has stated, Priests, Warriors (real warriors, not those crazy DW'ing wackos) and Warlocks are probably our lowest in sheer numbers. The most important thing though is to roll something you are happy with. If you don't like yer toon you're not going to want to play.
Pick what you want and play it. The rest will take care of itself.

He's just jealous of us Karma.
Over on the Horde side, we need anything. Our top-end folks consist of two Hunters, a Shaman, two Warlocks, and a Warrior (who's not quite 60 yet).

There's a horde side?

Don't worry. I feel the same way. Five voices in guildchat is a full house for us now. :p

What happend to the Horde side anyway? Last time I was playing (around September or so) there would be about 15 people on during prime time.
Nightmare is unhappy. He has complained of the lack of garbage collection lately. He was disgusted by a double pointer. He was disturbed by structs while sleeping.
Just to get back into the thick of things, I rolled an undead mage and got him to about level 10. (I forget what his name is now. How do I go about joining the GWJ Horde guild?)
As far as playing different classes, I played most (if not all) of them by now. My main a year ago was a level 60 pally. I also have a level 20 warrior and a warlock. Over time I've also played other alliance classes, as well as several horde ones.
I've had a mage before, but never took him far. I'd like to try go the distance with this guy. And maybe help out with damage dealing when I get up in levels and it comes time for raids.

My mage's name is Brakkar. If someone can send an invite to the guild that'd be awesome.

90% of the active 60s left to join a raid guild, Blades of Vengeance.
The only 60s left in the guild are Strekos, me, Padwynd, Thag, Malefecent, and Ironbull, who doesn't get out much. We've got three or four up-and-comers , but that's about all. It's pretty empty in the evenings now.
Easily 75% of our members were 60, so that was most of the guild right there. In addition to that, a lot of the lowbies saw people leaving for BoV and left as well.
