[WOW] Formerly Killer Bs, getting back in the action

After taking some time off, the people behind Bagman, Beowoof and Bloodstar (formerly of Blackhand Alliance) are looking to come back to the fold (in other words, me and two of my brothers are starting new characters). We will likely be playing only a night or two per week (what with kids, jobs and other responsibilities). Are people still playing on Blackhand or has the GWJ Alliance shifted to other servers. Can anybody recommend a good server for us?

Thanks,
Edgar Newt

We're still here, Peec and Duclama are back(among others), and if the current crop of 40s can get to 55+, we might be able to do some bigger than 5-man raids without too much outside help. (I think - don't we have close to 20 if we get the current crop of 40s to raid level?)

Excellent. I will recommend that we rejoin Blackhand. Unfortunately, given that we each have crazy lives these day, we are likely going to be well behind you for some time. But after taking a break for a few months, we have each found that we missed WOW and the community.

Edgar

If Blackhand isnt locked I may make another char there, but Im not one to lvl up alts for the sake of it.

Edgar, welcome back bud. Is there a reason you don't want to use the same characters and finish leveling them? Blackhand is still the one and only GWJ Alliance guild.

5-man? Try higher. We pretty often fill up a 15 man raid on Thursday nights and we're only 2-4 people away from filling up a 20 man run all on our own on Thursdays. And that's even with not everyone showing up at once, which is always our problem.

Wow, fast posts. Edgar, lots of people play alts when not raiding, so once you get to level 20+ you should have guildmates to group with.

Blackhand has never been one of the servers locked (thank goodness). Come on over!

I have a lvl 28 rogue named Whisque and I'm a slow leveller, so you'll probably catch up with me for grouping...

My main is only 34 on Sen'Jin but I belong to a small guild so sometimes nobody my lvl is on.

The problem would be I love being a Gnome warrior so I would want tohave the same type of guy which means same quests. Actually I think I did Human area quests from lvl 5 up, maybe if I stay in the dwarf area this time it will be new.

My brothers deleted their characters, to kill the temptation. But the temptation could not be denied....so, the current situation. I am SO GLAD to hear that Blackhand remains strong. We will be starting this Friday and/or Saturday and I will update this thread with our names (if they change from the Bs). After this weekend, we will be on once (possibly twice) a week.

It will take some time, but be lots of fun along the way.

I appreciate the "welcome back". We hope to contribute soon.

Uhh... I did say "bigger than 5-man"... doesn't it go 5, 20, 40? Or are there specifically 10, 15?

Good thing you're on the other side.

If you're looking at the max players per instance, then yeah you have it right. There are dungeons capped at 5, 10, 15, 20, 40.

5 - Dire Maul
10 - Everything not mentioned
15 - Lower and Upper Blackrock Spire (LBRS & UBRS)
20 - Zul Gurub and west AQ
40 - Molten Core, Blackwing Lair and east AQ.

I did not know that, thanks, Leap!
Oh, I hit 48 last night and Peec's 45. I think I'll get her to hit Searing Gorge with me, that's a fun zone.

Razor, just so I wouldn't be "dead to you", I started a Horde character (an undead Warlock). Now can I join the club?!!

Nice! My 51 rogue has been sitting idle for a while, and I'd like to burn some of the rest off!

Edgar,

That's great news. Don't worry about not having folks to grind with, there are a plethora of toons on the Alliance at all levels. Adonfanna (Pigpen) has about 20 and I have 19

I just rolled a Warlock and a mage, neither of which are above level 8 so I'd be happy to run with you when I'm not playin my role of Sir Tanksalot!

I also have a priest at 18 that needs experience in instance groups.

Well, tried to make a char after a 15 min queue and it said char creation is disabled at this time.

EDIT: Well it seems you now can't make new chars if there is any type of queue on ther server of choice.

Wow, really? Oh well, Blackhand doesn't have a queue most nights before 9:00pm, except Sunday.

Weeknights when I log in at 8central, there's a queue every night but (sometimes) Friday.
I'd suggest logging in one morning, making your character, and logging back off.
Or at lunchtime.

Last night Bagman awoke after some seven months hibernation (sitting on cold, hard steps of Ironforge looking out over that tremendous vista) with nothing but 50 copper and his trusty steed. Yep, no clothes. Must have been a very cold seven months.

In any case, if Bloodstar can be resurrected (my brother actually deleted him when he quit WOW in June), the Bs will be back in action. If not, we will be starting fresh toons. Should know by Friday.

I appreciate the welcome back.

Edgar

More dwarves? Man, what's Azeroth coming to?

Welcome all...let us know who you need invites to...and that and much equipment will be coming shortly!

Okay, now that we three are coming out of our self imposed retirement (my story is that I ran off with an exotic foreigner and started a family - and has the benefit of being actually true ) we are a little rusty on some basics: Number one, interface pluggins: What are you people using? When last I played I think I was using something called cosmo? Yesterday online Leapin mentioned CTMOD, and Edgar is pushing insomianix. Quick poll: What do you guys like? If there is a recent relevant thread please point it out.

Thanks, and I'm really looking forward to getting back into the fray,

-Jayavarman AKA Beowoof, 41 level Human warrior

I really disliked all 3 of those.

If you like/want smaller unit frames(the player and party health/mana bars), look for Perl Unit Frames and set them both to compact with a console command. Not as small as I'd like, but good enough until I make the leap into Discord.

For anyone that can cure poison/disease/remove debuffs, Decursive is indispensible.

Whispercast is a great little addon.

And Infobar. I'm currently using Bhaldie's InfoBar, but lots of folks like Telo's InfoBar and TitanBar. All good mods.

I like some of GypsyMod(which I think might be based on some CTMod code, but I prefer Gypsy).

Oh, and you must find the BananaPhone mod. No GWJer should be without it.

Edit: Another indispensible mod is ReagentInfo - it adds to the tooltip which professions/classes use the piece of loot you're hovering over. Never again wonder why something like Fish Oil is not grey, ReagentInfo tells you it's a Shaman reagent. An alternative to this is Auctioneer (and/or Informant), which has other great uses, too, but is easily gamed, especially in light of recent articles about gaming Auctioneer users.

Yesterday online Leapin mentioned CTMOD

I think you might have me confused with someone else.

Mods I currently have installed:

Bag Status Meters
Cooldown Count
CT_MailMod
CT_RaidAssist
Damage Meters
Decursive
Gypsy UnitBars
Money Display
Stance Sets
Weapon Quick Swap

I use Insomniax, and turn off the parts of it I don't use. It's really awesome, except for their lag in updating the mods post-patch. Then again, there are a bunch of buttloads of mods included, so I'd conjure it probably takes a few days.

Thanks everyone and Leapin, my apologies, your right, it was someone else my bad. Anyway, I hoping the gods of warcraft can resurrect Bloodstar from the binary graveyard. In anycase, Beowoof will once again wander the world in search of adventure.

Cheers,

Jayavarman

Bagman is there as well -- sans clothing and equipment at the moment. I am killing small animals and skinning them for lunch money (my unarmed rating is now over 100).

Once we find out whether Bloodstar can be returned from the dead, I may come hat in hand looking for some handouts for a priest. In the meantime, I cannot tell you how nice it is to have a community to come back to.

For those that have worked to keep the GWJer flame alive lo these many months, I salute you.

Well, it looks official -- the Killer Bs are back and in their early-mid 40s. At least two of us -- Bagman (level 43 Priest) and Blastoff (Level 43 Warlock that was formerly known as Bloodstar (before Billizard sold off the name on Blackhand while the warlock slept with the fishes)) -- are naked and Bagman is without bags, armor or weapons (Blastoff has bags and soul shards, but no other equipment). Bagman has been killing beasties (boar and bear mostly) with his bare hands and skinning them for copper. Blastoff just returned from goodness knows where and filed this recent report:

"I don't know," he said, scratching his head in a daze, "I recall coming into the castle and going to the bank. I was selling some things, and then my head went all funny, and I passed out. When I woke up, all my clothes were gone, except this nifty loin cloth. My identification? Let me check my bags. Hmmm.... lots of soul shards, but no identification. Funny thing, I can't seem to remember my name. I think it's Bl... Bli... Blastoff. Yeah, that's it, Blastoff. At least that's what appears over my head in blue letters.

"What do you mean you have to take me in? Indecent exposure? Hey, look at that chick over there, the one with horns on her forehead, wings on her back and a whip in her hand. She's got barely a stitch on and you're not hassling her! Why bug me? Oh, I see. So demons get special treatment? I bet you have a cloven hoof fetish too.

"Look, I promise as soon as my buddies come to the Auction House area, they will loan me some cash to get some clothes, at least a cloak. They should be here later today, and I won't go anywhere until then. Cut me some slack here, I feel like I've been asleep for about 7 months or so, and I can't even remember my name. So, what do you say?"

As Leap and others may recall when Bagman (prematurely) retired last summer, I donated what bags and gold I had (I kept my mount) to the guild. I come to you today, hat in hand, asking for your compassion and any spare equipment and bags.

Yours for the Alliance,
Bagman (43 Priest)
(and on behalf of Blastoff -- 43 Warlock (does not need bags))
