AFC/NFC Championship games

Congrats to the Steelers (and the Steelers' fans here). I hoped the Broncos could keep it close, but I think the Steelers have too much going for them. It would be nice to send Bettis out as a Super Bowl Champion. Denver losing is worth that.

woot Steelers!!11eleven!!
*high fives everyone in the room, falls down and passes out*

i thought the steelers D wasn't even that effective today. they didn't blitz nearly as much as i like them too.
but the offense seems to be on fire (and has been for the past two weeks).

it should be a fun two weeks leading up to the super bowl here in the 'burgh.

It's like New Years in my neighborhood. Yelling, honking, banging on pots, fireworks. I thought the Steelers came out great and did their usual super conservative, sit on a lead thing.

Meanwhile, Delhomme looks terrible and the Panthers can't run. Sure looks good for the Seahawks.

Are the Steelers the only team to appear in a SuperBowl every decade? 70's, 80's, 90's, 00's?

Granted 80's was technically the 1979 season but the SB was played in Jan 1980

Jake Delhomme certainly putting a hurt on his playoff rep up to now..

Seems like I heard that the Raiders did it, but for the life of me, I can't think of a 90's appearance.

EDIT: Nope. If the Broncos make it this decade, they'll be the only other team capable of doing it (if I'm not missing something obvious). EDIT AGAIN: Missed Washington. They can do it too if they go this decade.

And somewhere right now, the execs at ABC are pounding their foreheads into a wall over the prospect of their final Super Bowl for the forseeable future being a matchup between Pittsburgh and Seattle.

It's not a prospect any more.

Should be an interesting Super Bowl, although, from a Neutral perspective, those last two games sucked. Both were one-sided snoozers.

Crongrats to Minase and to other Seahawk faithful for reaching the superbowl. Well Done.

Poor bagga

Congrats to Seattle and their fans.. I didnt give them much chance to beat Carolina but they soundly spanked them with a great defensive scheme. Steve Smith other than the Punt Return was a non-factor...and they made Jake look like the other Jake.

It's been a long time but Seattle is finally in the SB!

Cringe-worthy moment was that now tool Terry Bradshaw asking Paul Allen during the Trophy ceremony if he could fix his email.

That was probably the best defensive game I've seen Seattle play all season. It didn't hurt that they really only had one player they needed to defend against. Where are all the people saying Foster being out isn't that big of a deal now?

I didn't see that. What an ass.

After watching the NFC game, I still don't really have a feel for how good the Seahawks are. What I do know is that Carolina was embarrasingly bad. That's one of the worst played playoff games I can remember. My sense is that the Seahawks running game didn't look that good, but their defensive line looked decent. It's hard to tell though, because Carolina was just so very, very bad. Makes it hard to get a sense of what kind of a matchup we'll see in the Super Bowl. To be honest, though, while I obviously favor the Steelers, it wouldn't bother me to see either team win. I like them both, and it's nice that it'll be a new team.

Alexander got like 130 yards and 2 rushing TDs, I would say their running game is ok.

Well I was nervous as heck, but the Hawk's fairly soon settled me down with an interception and quick score. Hat's off to the defensive folks, both on and off the field. Great work!

Running game indeed looked good to me. I actually don't think Hassleback was as sharp as he was in his previous games, passing-wise. Alot of those passes had folks really contorting their body to bring them in. But, that has been the case in many games. Some great receivers. One thing I did notice is that he definitely choose well and didn't do any of his 'air balls' while on the run. He definitely is the leader of the team and has an excellent feel for what the defense is up to with some great audibles. Great job to the Hawk's entire organization. Long time coming. AND the '12th Man' does give them an edge at home. They won't have that in Detroit, but I think they'll do a fine job regardless. (I fondly have alway's remembered the Zorn days and it was great to seem him so emotional and proud after the game).

Carolina I think just ran out of gas and didn't play well. The Hawks has something to do with it, but they just didn't have it. They still had a great season and post-season because they played very well after loosing some decisive personnel. Good, good job Panther's.

With respect, I think that's as much about Carolina looking bad as it is Seattle being good. Heck, the team rushed something like 50 times in the game and had the ball for over 40 minutes. With numbers like that, of course you'll see high running stats. Based on Carolina's ability to penetrate the line even when tired, I doubt that Seattle can run the ball as well against the Steelers. But, hey, we'll see in two weeks.

Edit: Going back over what I wrote, what I'm really trying to say is that I expected the Seahawks running game to be an A, and it looked more like a B or B+ to me. It's not that it's not good, it just didn't look as good as I was expecting it to.

I would like to be among the first to congratulate the Pittsburgh Steelers for their victory in Super Bowl XL. They will roll.

"One for the thumb!"

Win for the Chin!

I look forward to the next year of cheesy "Big Ben" and "The Bus" commercials...

Games like the ones yesterday aren't that fun to watch unless you're a fan of the winning team - and was that Seattle game sure was fun to watch! I was worried about the Panthers coming in, but they were dominated in every facet of the game but special teams. One more team to go!

Oh, hey everybody! I just had the worst nightmare...

Eh, uh... wha?

Rips open sleeping pills, eats them all. Then, jumps out of 20-story building with gun in hand.

Click, click, click, BANG! FWTHUMP!

At least your team made the playoffs, Bagga.

Well, let's all hope for an 86-yard touchdown pass or better.

And for the Steelers to kick the ever-livin' shiznit out of the seahawks.

End sentence there. No need to cite specifics.

I'm importing a case of Iron City beer cross-country for the big game. Go Steelers!

And you thought that his "duet" with Paul McCartney was the low point in his broadcast career.
