(WoW Alliance) There Comes a Time in Every Gnome's Life...

... when he's gotta move on.

This is one of the harder WoW-related posts I'll ever write, so hopefully it'll go over well, or as well as can be expected.

After a lot of discussion over the past few weeks, I (Norbert), Aia, and Baseball have decided to move to another guild. As much as we try to stave off the desire for higher-end runs and more guild involvement, we just can't anymore. We play very frequently, and we're still not to the level we should be, simply because uBRS is about the toughest instance we can expect to run. There seem to be quite a few people in GWJ who are interested more in PvP or leveling to 60 and then starting alts, which is not to say that any of these play styles is wrong or not in the spirit of the game: they're just not play styles that mesh with us wanting to run ZG and, if at all possible, MC and above. When the guild does get together, it ends up seeming more like a chore, and these times are so few and far between that it's been probably 3 weeks since I've grouped with anyone in the guild but Aia or Baseball.

We'll be moving to a guild that will hopefully give us some aspect of that, without requiring daily runs or DKP or any of the other large guild nonsense, and hopefully everything will work out to the best.

Baseball and Aia don't have any alts in the guild but I do (Evaline and Vernon, for the most part, though there are others), so if at all possible I'd love to keep them in GWJ Alliance so I can keep in touch with you guys, but our 60s will be making the move.

I guess there's nothing I can do to prevent people from being upset or taking this as a personal affront to them or the guild, but please don't take it that way. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in GWJ Alliance and hope to still see you guys on in PUGs and with alts. But different people just look for different things in the game, and no amount of trying on either end will change the fact that sometimes, there are better fits elsewhere.

I hope everyone understands, and I'll see you in Azeroth.

hey...just move over to the Horde side.. problem solved.. I mean why join another guild?

Haha... you find me a way to transfer a 60 Warrior over to the Horde side, and to not have him be ugly as sin, and we'll talk.

Lots of us started alts on the Horde side, Leap, Myself, and Grinfin. The horde is doing ZG and MC on a weekly basis, at least MC.

bah...just start over... its not that big a deal to level another character to 60.. top that with not having to worry about getting end game gear all over again.

As for ugly.. well... lets just not go there gnome.

This is a bit sad but not entirely unexpected. It's too bad you can't get a one time faction switch.

I guess there is only one thing left to say: "For the Horde"

And here I thought that there were only 6 females at GWJ.

Gee Grump, I'm not sure how to take that comment.

It's really bumming me out to see the GWJ Alliance guild disintegrating like this. I understand why it's happening and I don't have any hard feelings, I'm just really sad about it. I'm glad to see that people aren't leaving the game though, just moving on to groups that better suit their style of play. Sadly for me, the relaxed atmosphere of the GWJ Alliance clan suited me very well, and now it's in its death throes.

I don't know what the WoW future holds for me, since the guild action was so much of the attraction. I like playing a priest, and I just reached 60. I'm hoping The Regulators can go on, time will tell. I don't commit the time to WoW that would allow me to level up a horde character as quickly as others might do. And honestly, I just don't have the same feeling for my horde mage. Seems priests are in abundance on the horde side....soo....I dunno. Anyway, it was a load of fun while it lasted. Best of luck to everyone in their new endeavors!

Pwnd. You know that in real life, Warlock leaves the seat down.

I know a couple of Tauren warriors who might like a word with you regarding that comment.

I really wish I could say I don't agree with Warlock, but it all is so true for me also. My WOW time is limited and am having fun with my 60, but I hate the pick-up group scene and now 3 of the 6 regulars I see on all the time are now gone. It seems the whole atmosphere and interaction is gone too. I understand why the whole Horde migration happened and don't blame anybody and carry no hard feelings at all.

BUT......part of me does feel abandoned and the chemistry the guild once had is gone.

I do regret to say that I am looking for another more-active alliance guild for the time being. Good luck to all and if the time comes that the guild wants to be active again, I will not hesitate to run back with my tail between my legs...it's about the people dammit and not just the stupid game.

and that word would be "moo" would it not?

This is not the first time this has happened to GWJ Alliance, nor frankly will it be the last. We are and probably always will be just a big PuG. Mostly because the reason we are a guild is because we all post here (or know someone who does etc) and nothing to do with our in game style. We are a social guild not a raiding guild, nor a PvP guild. I personally don't ahrbor any ill wishes towards those that move on, becasue frankly I can understand them, with all the PvP I've been doing lately I would really do much better in a PvP guild, but I'll be sticking with GWJ for the time being (if the guild falls aprat totally I may move on, but that is for another time).

Hmm... Looks like I'm late to the ball game, as usual. Kinda like when I say 'Bye Leap' about 30 seconds after he's gone.

In any case, I hate to say that I agree with the rats leaving the ship, but damned if my tail ain't skinny and hairless. I have a few hordie alts, but they're not my 60 rogue, and I don't have the time to invest in getting them to that level. I enjoy hanging out with you guys, but you're just not around anymore. At this level it's either raid or stagnate, and I've been playing with this lousy phantom blade since I was in my 40s. The equipment needs upgradin'.

Regulators, let me know if you find a good home and there's room for Stabby McStabberson. He misses you, in a hardass, Clint Eastwood kinda way.

The irony...as you soon will find out..is that you'll spend a great deal more time raiding that you ever did leveling your character to 60.

I would have to mostly agree with TheGameguru. WoW doesn't really start until level 60. Sure the begining quests and learning phases are fun enuff to keep people playing. But I feel it is all just background material and basic training. When I first hit 60, it was "SWEET", I finally made it to the end. So now what do I do? Ya, that question lasted for about 2 seconds.
Turns out, 5 months later I still have tons of stuff to still complete! The instances and quests are much harder and richer(both loot and story wise). The fact that nearly everything needs a small(some times large) team to complete, makes it that much funner. It is the people you meet and team up with that makes this game great. And the end-game raiding has only just begun for me.
Guess what it boils down to is, I never meant to start an Alliance to Horde defection. We more than welcome you, don't get me wrong. Just sorry to see the Alliance side break apart(now us Horde'ies will never be able to kick your butts in PVP ). I completely understand you're desicions, and I wish you the best of luck!

agreed...I just know how hard it is to find good people to group with who you enjoy playing with.. It would be hard for me to simply move to someother guild...especially if I had no clue who the people were.

When my guild on Alleria (and Alleria in general) imploded it was nice to have GWJ to move to.

You guys are always welcome on Dark Iron as well. I started over there awhile back with the Penny Arcade alliance and have a 60 warlock there now along with several alts. We raid MC weekly, and just reached Ragnaros yesterday. There are several ZG runs going on every few days. With nearly 2000 members among all the PA affiliated guilds its pretty easy to find a group for whatever you are doing regardless of your level.

Sure there is a bit of the large guild drama stupidity, but its pretty easy to overlook once you have a regular group you run with.

Warlock, I don't think anyone takes any offense at all. Our nature is casual. So I wish you all the best of luck.

I'll be adding you all to my friends list, and hope that should you ever need a 60 Hunter (or not too long down the road, another one in my son and a 60 warlock) you all will give me a holler. I'm still committed to the guild because with bringing SillyRabbit, Troll, my son, and now Nickjc in, I feel responsible to hang around as long as they will all have me.

Good luck, and good fortune. Stay in touch

About time you got back on the boards and posting Old Man(Pigpen), sure took you long enough.

My fiber shake takes a while to get me 'flowing', so to speak...so yeah, slow to start...and slow to move...and slow to finish...

The Lama and I have restarted playing, but I'll be a super casual player, randomly on as I have time, rather than a regular player.
