Donation Drive '08

Section:

Another year has unbelievably come and gone, and Gamerswithjobs.com still does everything in its power to sap the productivity right out of your work day. It's been a busy year on our end, from site redesigns and improvements to 100 broadcasts of the Gamerswithjobs Conference Call to regular articles from what I think are some of the best writers in the industry to a continuing effort to provide forums that are a safe haven in the storm. And, every year we take a few weeks out to put our hat in hand and come to you to help us keep it all going. At the risk of sounding like public radio, you are what keeps GWJ alive and rolling, from server and hosting costs to helping us pay for convention coverage and equipment; every year as the site gets a little bigger, it also gets a little more expensive. So, for the month of September we will be asking for your donation to help support Gamerswithjobs. Oh, and we give away prizes too.

Supporting the site is as simple as clicking the make a donation link on the sidebar or sending your donation through Paypal to [email protected]. Every donation of $10 or more is eligible for an entry into our giveaway. You can also send a check to:

GWJ Donation Drive
Attn: Sean
PO Box 177
Savage, MN 55378

IMPORTANT - READ THIS: Being involved in the donation drive giveaway and getting your icon is a two step process - you must send a separate e-mail to [email protected] with the subject Donation Info. You must include your forum name, the name under which you donated if it is different and the amount donated.

So, enough of why you should support GWJ, and on to what you will get by supporting GWJ. As always, we have tried to put together a nice prize package for you guys, and our Grand Prize is up to you! This year, you pick your grandprize from the following choice:

Grand Prize: An Xbox 360 - OR - A Playstation 3 - OR - A Nintendo Wii - OR - A GeForce 9800 GX2 1GB

As always donors get a special forum icon added to their name. Readers who have donated once get a golden key, twice gets a gold watch, three donations gets the iconic weiner bomb, four years gets you a company car, five years a company jet and for this sixth year ... well, let's just say you'll round out the travel options.

Comments

I'll be donating this morning sometime after I get home from work. Should be roughly 4 hours.

I need my company car

Donated.

I'm only too happy to donate money for the upkeep of a site with forums refreshingly devoid of trolls, morlocks and deadites.

This is the first donation drive since I've been out of college and in a real, salary-paying career job.

It's pretty cool, isn't it? I still remember going to Best Buy with Duffman after I got my first real job - he told me I should get a PS2 to play GTA3, and it dawned on me that I could just buy one.

Oh, thank god I read that wrong. Maybe it's time to do the unnecessary censorship thing?

Oh yeah, definitely.

Ok I have done my part to keep Gamers With Jobs a going concern. Happy 100th podcast.

Right here:

I'm in!

Yay! I've got a key to the company bathroom! Thanks!

So... uh... where is it? Second door on the right?

Money and email sent!

Is there a list somewhere of donors? I don't remember my icon is what it was before the most recent donation or a new one. Boy my memory is bad.

Edit -- oh, wait. I definitely did not have a plane before.

Yeah. Now, I know there's a name plate on the door that says "Sean Sands" but that's just what we call it. Just go on the desk, it's cool.

I've been peeing on Sean's desk for weeks now, so I'm only really excited to have something so shiny as this key.

Good to see our money is going for new desks. Email and cash away!

Oohhh, shiny key... how did they know I like shiny things?

To tell you the truth, I think it is even more awesome now. And just you wait until you get the boat.

Done.

It looks like the jet is making a daring take-off from a collapsing runway.

OK, donation sent! (Finally. Why does PayPal take a week to process a bank transfer anyway...) Now, back to posting creepy spider pics...

Sent. I'll get a new gold shiny thing, woohoo! My preciousssss...

Sent!

Check mailed. Come on 9800.

Still eying that PSP for, what, the third year running?

Wish we still had that pic of Certis in the plane, holding the big bag o' money.

I love my freaking watch, that's all.
