Did Roo...

Goddammit, now I want to go to Greece and find a soulmate too! They're 3.99 a piece, right?

I also automatically get one when we get married.

Congrats on the trip, soulmate, engagement, future children, and you future life! Let us know if there is anything we can do.

I'll even supply the webcam for the wedding!

This is a trap, just in case you were wondering. Just make sure you unplug the camera after the ceremony.

Oh sweetie, that's so wonderful, I'm so happy for you both! Yay, Love!

This is the best thread ever. It's like a great chick-flick. I'm so, so happy for you, dear Roo. I'm so glad that you reached for the stars! I hope it lasts forever...

I hope it lasts forever...

Great, now I hear Peter Cetera singing...

you know our love was meant to be

the kind of love that lasts, forevah...

and I want j00 here with me

FROM TONIGHT UNTIL THE END OF TIME

Sorry - I got swept away in a frenzy of 80s love ballads, I guess. It won't happen again.

This love is so great that it can be chronicled in an anthem by Rush.

Thank you futurama

That's incredible, Roo. Beautiful. Epic. Etc.

Here's to the future.

Roo, You bring feeling to my life. You're the inspiration. Wanna have you near me. I wanna have you hear me sayin' ... "No one needs you more than I need you."

Sorry Fletch, its not gonna happen till you do someting about your hair.

Damn the injustice! The short-haired guys with great voices who write catchy tunes always get the girls in their videos.

IT'S MORE THAN A FEELIN'...

Jeeze. Kick a man when he's down...

Wow Roo... you suck.

I post about my failing love life and sh*t going down... and I still got jack. You do it, and you get some hot Greek chick who wants to jump your bones while you take care of birds all day long in the Medi Sea.

This is just too unfair for words!

Hehe, anyway, big congrats Roo. Glad to hear sh*t's turned around for you in such a big way, even if it does mean you're taking a little too much luck for your share! *shakes fist*

Demos, baby, th difference is all ab out the bourbon. if yous got it, then the chicks know that you;'ve got it and they wantt o come over and rink it.

Well... sweet then. I've only got 5 more months till I can buy the bourbon for myself. Life is good.

Roo, you rock and/or roll!

I believe in love again! Yay!

I hope all goes well with your new life, Roo

I love Greece... my Parents have an awesome house about 30 min north of Athens..

Probably in 5 years or so I'm going to start building a house in Greece...just have to decide where to build..

10 years or so hopefully I'll be able to simply retire there and putz around sipping Frappe's and laying on the beach..

I just hope I can get my football games somehow...

oh and good choice on Santorini... its the most beautiful place in the world... the sunsets there are incredible.

Just remember that you need room for the GWJ compound, and the Aquatic Temple.

I go camping with friends from college every year, and they were (somewhat) joking that we camp in Greece next June...hey if I could find them decent airfare...it's so amazing here, and especially on the islands.

GG: if you're looking at islands I would seriously recommend Amorgos from what I've seen so far...all the sunsets, secluded beaches, mountains, bluer than blue water, and 1/50th the tourists of say, Santorini.

And yes, my life right now is like a chick-flick with corny 80s music in the background, and I'm embracing every bit of it. Hell, we've even sung some of those corny 80s songs to each other (we fell in love in Spring of 1989). Corny, sentimental, over-the-top romanticism....I'm right there.

I, the large (6'1" is tall around here) obnoxious American have been somewhat the surprise to her family to say the least. We're going to visit her sister, brother-in-law and two nephews tonight, stay over (argh, guess who's sleeping in the kids room and who's not), and then Sunday we're off to protect Eleonora's Falcons on Naxos (largest island in Aegean).

It really means alot to me, how very...connected to all this and encouraging you all are. I realize at this point it's turning into the aforementioned corny chick-flick with the predictable happy ending but...you know. that's kinda cool. Isn't it the end of the first "Charlie and The Chocolate Factory" where Willy Wonka asks Charlie, "You know what happened to the boy who got everything he always wanted don't you? He lived happily ever after." Which isn't to say I want everything to be perfect. God no. Perfect sucks. I want the whole thing, the good, the bad, the sad, the happy, the ecstatic, the frustrating, the....well you know, the really, really good stuff.

btw you've guys have got her calling me "Bang-E-Roo" sometimes now. Thanks so much for that.

She, like me, was pretty overwhelmed by all of your responses, and yes she did like all of them, even the interesting initial speculations...(Edwin sure had it right...)

Now the other part. I'm going to be back in the States taking care of business and saying some goodbyes around August 28th til Labor Day or so. Figuring out what goes to Greece and what stays. Doing the final divorce court thing. I'm sure it will be somewhat tough. Unfortunately I don't know if i'll have internet access, and computer access...I should. And if possible I'll definitely want to play something with you all.

BF2 maybe?

And if I don't post for a couple weeks (might post from internet cafe...dunno) you'll know where I am.

yers,

Roo

AWESOME
Actually, I meant it more as "Bang 'er, Roo!", but that's ok too.

Mex, behave! She's reading all that!!

I thought it was banger-oo.
Like a Kangaroo.

Roo, in this crazy world we live in I take solace in hearing your story. Congrats on everything!

Here's to everlasting happiness and so much more!

Roo

are you planning on living in Greece or coming back here eventually? or simply not worrying about those kinda decisions for a year or so..

If you need advice on American to Greek living feel free to drop me a PM.. I'll be glad to let you know my brothers journey as he approx 6 or 7 years ago moved back to Greece and became a dual citizen (Greek and American Passports)

It involved a 9 month stint in the Greek Army (haha!)

I nominate this for best Goodger personal story thread ever.

I sometimes wonder why some countries even have armies. Who exactlly are they going to fight?

edit: Does that mean we can come to the wedding?
