Did Roo...

So, wow. Roo really has been gone for a while now. Or did he come back and I missed him? See, 'cause I think we're all still dying to know the answer to that age-old question of "how many screws does it take to get sick of boning your long-lost Greek lover after getting dumped by your spouse?"

Let's see...One...Twohoo...*bite* Three.

Three

Roo, Roo, where are you? Come back and lead us to the BF2 promised land. Oh, and spill about who...er...what you've been doing for the last few weeks.

Soon, all will be revealed.

However, that's also a part of this whole "Am I in a movie?" feeling: we were going to register for the conference this week. The conference (with long by car travel time) is July 21st through July 30th. Which means I would be in Greece from ~July 1st, through July 19th. A part of me, a big part actually, wants to just skip the conference and be in Greece from July 1st through maybe August 8th or so.

Obviously, he skipped the conference. There may be a later post with more specific dates but considering as how I'm remote desktopped into my home machine, I'm not scrolling through 3 pages * multiple screen heights at slideshow speed to find it. I'd say we've got about another week until we have to call Interpol.

Why would Interpol be interested in a domestic vice case?

Well, we all are, aren't we? Why wouldn't Interpol be interested??

You're right. If we can get Interpol involved, maybe they can set up some surveilance and hook us up with the footage!

Dude, we just tell them we know this guy, and he's gonna bang this greek girl, and it's all going to be awesome because she's still hot after all these years, and they'll help us out with satellite pictures and everything.

Good ol' bangeRoo.

bangeRoo

I will never refer to BangeRoo by any other name ever again.

Perhaps everyone should just forget these east coast or west coast meet and greets and we should all just meet up in Greece and have a SearcheRoo Party? Goodger Goodger Roo.. where are yoooouuuu?

(Wow, so ya, you can just put Roo on the end of anything and it just works... like magiceRoo)

P.S. I in no way endorse the use of Goodjer as I prefer the old standby of G.W.J. on the few occasions when I say it outloud.. it was just too good an opportunity to let it go.

Goodger Goodger Roo.. where are yoooouuuu?

Scooby?

Hmmm...now that you mention it, we've not heard back from our fave sex marsupial. I hope he's ok. And by ok, I mean, alive, walking and incapable of wiping the dumb grin off his face.

Hell, I was hoping he'd have had so much snoo snoo that he died of a crushed pelvis.

The spirit was willing, but the flesh was spongy and bruised.

Get me a new cabin boy, this one's torn....

okay okay okay, I was going to post a "Notes from Greece" thread once I got the digital photos off the flash card (somehow, in Greece, since I couldn't find my cord, and I have no idea if there is a flash card reader anywhere). So you'll have to get the brief summary, without pics.

Btw, since many of you don't so much care about the romantic/soulmate part, I will just note that she is very, very hot, as if God designed every bit of her for me.

I have never been so happy in my life. I have never been this happy for this many days. Evar. I am in love. Remember, if you read the other thread, she was my one true love from high school (when I was 18), who I stupidly let go back to Greece, and stupidly didn't follow to Greece. In the meantime we've lived very parallel lives (our ex-spouses' names rhyme in an amusing way, even), gotten most of the stupid relationship mistakes people make out of the way...and every day is the best day of my life.

It's like that line from Illusions by Richard Bach. Imagine the Universe as good and perfect as you can, and then know that God has imagined it better. That's what my life feels like. I am living in the best of possible worlds, that I could not have imagined beforehand. All of the corny (and horny) things you could possibly think of are true, and then some. We complete each other.

Now we have been travelling around, which is a large chunk of why I haven't written yet, and we're about to head out for another 2 weeks. If you look at a map, find the Aegean Sea (east of Greece proper) and you will find the 3 islands we spent a couple weeks on: Amorgos (my favorite), Koufonissia, and Santorini. While most of the beautiful pics you can find of Greek islands features Santorini (aka Thira), which was formed from a volcano and is supposedly the rumored sunken Atlantis...and it's more beautiful than I can describe...many, many tourists know this. So it's a bit more touristy there than I like for my island paradises. We did however, get to see the ancient Greek play, The Bachae by Euripides acted out on the volcana proper....so you know, that's cool. Amorgos had much of the same beauty (without the really tall cliffs) and very few of the tourists; it's also a medium-sized island so it has certain amenities, nice camping site, plentiful beaches that only have a few people on them, and more gorgeous mountains and bluest blue water than...you can shake a German tourist at. Koufonissia is a really small island, and it was so blazing hot (with no trees) and the camp site so miserable we almost left as fast as we could. But we happened upon a family who rents rooms and runs a small taverna (little outdoor restaurant), who had people cancel a nice suite of rooms at the last minute. So we got the room for cheap, came down for dinners of grilled, freshly caught fish and squid (which is damned tasty fresh, forget the calamari crap from the states), and had a view that I will show you in some photos..and old mill, an old church, amazing turquoise-colored water, islands off in the distance....

Greece is just beautiful. My only gripe so far is that almost everyone smokes. With the huge number of outdoor places to eat (hard to find indoor) however, this really hasn't been much of a problem for my smoke allergies.

My plans: turning down the choir job I landed in the states, and I'm going to live here in Greece for a year, likely teaching some combination of music (most recent degree), English Lit (first b.a.), and dog classes. It's funny, we ended up getting some free prints of the amazing art of a local artist on Santorini, cause they had just adopted a stray puppy and needed sort of emergency puppy lessons (esp. getting the little booger not to eat their fingers), so I helped them out in English with a few translations here and there. My life is very uprootable at the moment, hers is somewhat. So we'll live here for a year in Athens, I'll get to learn Greek language, traditional music and dance, and meanwhile go on trips to Italy, Spain, England, etc. as well as the large island, Naxos, where we'll be spending a couple weeks doing stuff on behalf of endangered falcons for 3 hours a day, and then doing whatever we want the rest of the day.

Did I mention how incredibly happy I am? I have never been so awake and aware, never been so completely myself, open, trusting, and just feeling clear headed and good.

And while no, I'm not giving out details, let's just say I haven't been in this good of shape, with such...endurance....since high school. Amazing to be with someone who is your soulmate in all ways, who wants every bit of you as much as you want every bit of her.

I know, I know, this thread sucks without pictures, which is part of why I didn't post. I'll see what I can do...

(our ex-spouses' names rhyme in an amusing way, even)

Mitch and B.... ?

(sorry, it's all I could think of)

Oh, that's such a cute story, Roo! It gives me warm fuzzies to read about how happy you are. Congrats

And good for you for looking out for endangered falcons.

Congradulations Roo! I'm happy to hear that everything worked out for you and that you found someone special. Keep us posted on how your doing over the coming months.

Sadly, I guess this means we won't be dancing again any time soon in Guild Wars

Roo: Congrats you malaka! Now here is a quick lesson in greek.. well the greek that you need to know when you live in New York!

agamisu: a**hole
putsi: You are gay
muni: another word for kitty, but the rest of us know it as the word that precedes willow.

Spelling is of course off as I never have written these words, only used them in polite conversation.

Good luck in your new country!

Mayfield wrote:

Ever since Kill Bill, that has become the word that precedes "Wagon" to me.

Congratz Roo.

Choir job or hot freaking soulmate in Greece, yeah that was a tough choice

Dear Roo,

Please deposit U.S. $10,000,000,000.

Re: Ripping off all of our romantic story ideas.

Sincerely,

Hollywood

Wow! Reading all these various updates by Roo has been something else. From the first divorce threads to "i'm gonna live here in Greece and have sex all day".

Amazing amazing story. Write a screenplay, this could be a movie!

O.T: Every time I saw Uma say that in those movies, I was a happy little camper.

Man, now I'm jealous of your Big Fat Greek Adventure. Way to go, Roo. =)

Go for it Roo (henceforth known as Roo, Greek God of Successful Romances).

also (and you probably know these by now):

malaka: generic swearword
Yamas: cheers
kalli mera/nichta: good morning/night

So, to answer the question posted in the thread's title, Roo most definitely id. Oh yeah. Repeatedly. In a number of different ways, I'd guess.

Congrats man!

A question though: you'd need a work permit or something of that sort, in order to work legally in Greece (or EU at large, I guess)? Walking away from that job is surely a gutsy move!

And post those pictures with quickness already!

Hopa, Female Doggoes! YAY ROO!!!!!
