GWJ East Coast Slap & Tickle

Pages

Sorry, just trying to get your attention there.

So, NYC and DC have already been suggested. I'm very centrally located as far as mid-atlantic goes in northern DE, very close to philly. Unfortunately, I only have room to sleep about 3 or 4 people at my apt, but I do know of some cheap hotels in the area (it is Delaware, afterall). and I know some great parks nearby.
I'd also be willing to go just about anywhere between NYC and DC. That even includes Jersey, so you know I must be serious!

Let's figure out something, maybe late August or September?

I want a New England Slap & Tickle. Gonna be in Maine soon.

IwantoneIwantoneIwantone!

Tied in with a trip to Moore Brothers wine store in Wilmington and you're on....there's also a boardgame/miniatures store called "The Rogue's Den" in Claymont, DE that has a cafe and wifi.....

I'm in CC Philadelphia; no car....

So how many people do we actually have in NY area...?

I am totally up for a GWJ meet in the Central/North East Coast, but preferably as far north as possible. NYC is easy enough to take a train to (would never drive there in a million years, though), although its rather expensive. Philadelphia's got alot of cheesesteaks and fun history. Of course, if it were up to me, I'd suggest Rochester, because Toronto, Niagara Falls, and the Finger Lakes are all relatively close :).

*edit: I'm sure Drunkensleipnir could be conned into coming too

Maybe we should book a paintball party in Pocono?

I might be heading back up to Rochester NY for a business trip again in Sept. which might be kind of cool. I live in Ohio though so I'm sort of stuck out on the fringes a bit. Any midwesterners around?

I'm near Boston so I am up for anything in the North East.

Count me in, naturally.

Let's keep it low-key though. No big plans or activities, etc. I think that's where we always get derailed. There is a lot to see and do, but trying to plan a group gathering is enough of a chore. Deciding on which attraction/activity to see/do is a whole other can of worms.

Can we start tossing out places where a Minnesota-esque gathering can be held? I have one State park near my home in Central Mass, which is really a short hop from the Upstate NY area. There are literally dozens of other park things in the Boston area, and I'm sure there are others in a town near you.

It feels like the Southern New England or Upstate New York Nexus is gaining traction. Am I right?

I'll fly up from Miami for paintball.

Or then there's paintball, which we all seem to be able to agree on

I sure hope its the Southern New England or Upstate New York thing. I have another reason for New York in September: the fall foliage is amazing.

South of Rochester are about six million public parks, each one with its own Finger Lake and Oompa Loompa colony. Letchworth Park, Seneca Falls, Mendon Ponds Park, Bristol Mountain... It would just be a matter of what you'd feel like going to.

*edit: I'd totally be up for Boston too, as long as we can have a Tea Party.

I'm in Connecticut, Hartford area. Swampy lives around the corner from me, walk my dogs by his house twice every day. Boston/NYC is good for me. I love Boston, but NYC scares me. Too big for this country boy.

I'll be in Casco, Maine mid-August on vacation. Lobo, when/where you gonna be up there?

I'd be happy to join in, and my Baltimore locale may fit the bill. If you don't mind sleeping military style in the basement, we may be able to hold 6-8 people in our townhouse. Plenty to do around B-more...Bean and his future missus were in town a couple of days ago so they can vouch for me not being an ax-murderer or anything...alledgedly.

I would also be willing to travel around the region...my range would probably be up to philly and down to say richmond or so.

The momentum is definitely building behind Upstate NY option.

Nice guy that Fredster was. The kind of guy that would leave work to have a few drinks with people he doesn't know. You gotta admire that.

I'm in the NJ area and would travel, especially since there's a rumor paintball may be involved.

Axe-murderers are screened? Damn...

NY/NJ is a bit far for me to go, being located in centralish North Carolina, especially since we're trying to cut down on expenses lately.

LI, NY here..

There is a great paintball place just south of Binghamton. I went there for a bachelors party and it was good fun:

I would be in for paintball.

But I would rather go out in NYC to Houston St. But that is just me

And most importantly, went back to work after 80 oz of Yeungling!

I'd be happy with upstate NY a few hour drive is not a big deal. Cool to see so many people up for doing someing like this. Agree with the idea of not getting too plan crazy just setting up a get together will be work enough.

I'd rather drink my tea then have it end up in the drink.

I'm in if the location that's chosen is possible for me to make the drive to in a reasonable amount of time.

If all those suggesting NY were willing to come just one state farther south into Pennsylvania you might attract some of the bunch from Ohio or even those of us in Ky

I'll keep an eye on the proceedings.

Regardless, I hope it works out!

We are in the Philly to Richmond category. Sounds like we need one near NYC and one near DC.

Good luck with your plans guys. I'm thinking along the same lines as Thin_J. Sure would like to attend the shindig.

Thin, maybe we could travel together if it's within reasonable driving distance, perhaps Pyro would want to come as well. Not sure we can get Zedian to join us, but that would be fun if we did, even though he hates nearly everyone and everything. All 4 of us could ride comfortably in my car I think. It's nothing special, but roomy.

In any event, I hope you guys get it together and have yourselves a grand ole time.

If I may, exceedingly close to my humble little town is a Mountain all fit for hiking and Goodjer...ing. And it's in upstate NY, two hours north of the city.

That said, I can make a Goodjer meet in NYC easily. Jersey probably, Boston would be a little tough.

FWIW, I'll go anywhere. I'm north of Boston myself, but I don't mind heading down NY/NJ way if that's where my homies are.

I think carpooling is an excellent idea, and sharing gas costs and having people to chat with the whole way there would make all the difference in the world.

Yeah, as much fun as it would be for everyone to see everyone else, two separate gigs sounds like it'd be more reasonable. It's a long coast.

Mex wrote:

I've seen longer.

It should be held in Lexington, KY.

I know the area pretty well (as does Pyro by now), and the hills in Kentucky are just waiting for a paintball shindig.

Not to mention, they have some cool comic and gaming shops in the area, and last I remember the girls at UK are hot.

In Brunswick, hopefully before August 15. Certainly before the end of the month. Depends on when I can finish some stuff down in NOLA.

Realistically speaking, I'm going to be one completely poor mofo for a long time to come. Anything farther from Maine than Boston will probably remain outside of my travel radius for the foreseeable future, and even that may be unmanageable for a while. I therefore urge all parties to disregard my aforementioned desire to attend a Slap & Tickle, on grounds of irrelevance.
