With no further discussion on the matter I'll be calling the rules settled and moving onto selecting a draft date and beat you all until money comes out. $10 bucks each will be enough, I'll post the Paypal info on Monday.
Personally, I'm a fan of not having any negative points. No one likes to lose points. I'd rather have 0/+2 than -1/+1 though I really think the way to go is simply 0/+1.I think if you're going to take a QB who throws a lot of INT's AND a lot of TD's (Favre) you should take a small hit for it. -1 for a pick or a fumble seems good to me. Chronic fumblers like Ahmen Green should give you some pause before taking them.
Frak you guys. =P Talkin' sh*t about my Packers.
One day they'll figure out a way for Green to fumble and Favre to throw a pick on the very same play.
Favre throws on the slant to Green and.... ohhh! Picked off by Ray Lewis! Lewis runs for five.. ten... ohhhh! He's hit and the ball is loose! Ahmen Green recovers and is now marching back down the field! He's at the 30... the 25.... 20.....the 15.... ohhhh no! Green fumbles the ball in the red zone! Classic Green and the Ravens recover the ball.
Now add up the point totals of that play, Commish.
Good point Gaald, how many do you think would be reasonable to limit them to? I know the system allows for it.
I don't like limited pick ups. I think that we are all above childish tactics of signing a releasing guys just to place them on waivers. It's an arbitrary and unneeded rule. Locking the rosters on game day will also cut down on a lot of the speculative pickups.
I hate the idea of limiting transactions. The "game" part of this whole endevor is playing GM, speculating on players, trying to pick up the sleeper. limiting picks inhibits the fun in my opinion.
I just went looking through the rules, looks like you can't limit the amount of transactions at all. Maybe I'm missing it but I can't find the setting anywhere.
Anyways, the waiver system is in place and you can't even try to pick anyone up until midnight after the final game so I think it'll be fine either way.
Any boob can hit a great pick by constantly picking up players and dumping them with no concequences, eventually you will happen upon a good pick by sheer luck.
And the same boob can just as easily put a good player back on the market because he doesn't understand why the pick-up had a down week, or didn't realize he had a backup to an injury-prone player but dumped him in Week 3, and now the guy's scoring points for someone else.

Mmmmm....boooooobsssss.

Any boob can hit a great pick by constantly picking up players and dumping them with no concequences, eventually you will happen upon a good pick by sheer luck. It takes patience skill, and some luck to do it with a limited amount, and it feels a hundered times better when it happens.
I am in no way calling anyone in the pool an idiot. I just think if we are all as geared up for this draft as I know I am, limiting the transactions will add an interesting and worth while challenge. The draft I have been in for the last 4 years has had limited transactions, it encourages trading over just picking someone up which helps all the teams stay competative and I have yet to see a year where every GM has gone through all thier picks by the end of the year.
Well, I don't pick up people willy-nilly, but I like to be able to speculate all season long. As long as I have to drop a player to make room form my pick up, I'm taking a risk, so I don't do it lightly. I've never been accused of hurting the experience of the others in my league by playing that way.

Wouldn't you be able to achieve the same effect by reducing the number of bench slots?
i think with only 12 teams...there are plenty of picks out there, and the bench is about right. I say leave it as is on free waivers and bench slots...just my two cents...
