NCAA Football 2006 - Roll Call

I'm thinking JMJ may have something to say about that when he wakes up.

I want to play the game before committing to playing in a league, but if the game doesn't suck, then mark me up for Fresno State.

Logan may play too. He'd be CSU Long Beach if not for the fact that the team folded in 1991.

You know, I use this word a lot to describe you: Dick.

Hit me up for USC or UCLA.

I'll be picking it up. And I play as Oklahoma. I don't know Redhwk, but as someone born in Oklahoma, raised in Oklahoma, and a third generation alumni, I know I won't lightly give up my claim.

Wuss. Real men take UConn to the national title. ;)

Hey now. No reason to get cruel. If I were to play I'd go with the Huskies. I think though that I'll wait and see what the GWJers do with used Madden and league play.

I'll defer to a true fan 'cause I'm just a Peterson fanboi.

I'll find me another team to play with.

I'm definitely in and will make a pick a team once the game is in hand.

hey, in NCAA 2005 I tried to take Army to the title. It's possible in the second year, but not the first. And that was with adding #4 Georgia and # 2 Oklahoma to my schedule and beating both! Army just starts too far back.

This could be the game that breaks my EA boycott. But, probably not.

Fight on, for Ol' SC
Fight on, to Victory!

I plan on picking up the xbox version. If you have room for one more I'll take one of the Florida teams. My order of preference would be Gators, Noles, and then Canes.

Updates teams post so people dont have to search:

1.) SpyNavy (Favored teams: Miami Hurricanes/(Really any SEC team)/Navy (hahhahahah) )
2.) Simpilot (LSU and LSU only )
3.) karmajay (Favored Team: Free Shoes U)
4.) ruthlessmuffin
5.) frankiemumbles
6.) squirrelmonkey (maybe)
7.) wineglass (maybe - Oregon)
8.) Legion (maybe - Fresno State)
9.) Grumpicus (University of Alabama)
10.) firesloth (maybe - Louisville/Notre Dame)
11.) Redhwk (A different team besides Oklahoma)
12.) Logan (USC/UCLA)
13.) JMJ (Oklahoma)
14.) gwartok (Florida Gators)
15.) Duttybrew (USC)
16.) tke364(Georgia Southern)
17.) Pigpen (University of Georgia)
Ok depending on who has ponied up by tomorrow - i will generate a schedule - call it the bowl schedule and then we will play. I dont think there is a true "league" function in NCAA so we will track it within the forums. Perhaps we can even track stats internally and have a vote for the Heisman :). Lots of promise here - especially since we will be "making it up as we go".

The Heisman is so gonna' be either Brian Brohm or Anthony Fasano (has a TE ever won?) depending on who I play.

...only 'cause we needed more trash talk.

Why don't you go put on a pretty dress and serve the rest of us our drinks honey. We men were talking.

If you could bring us some beers when you are done that would be nice thanks.

Just for the purposes of bookkeeping, I have laid claim to the Crimson Tide of the University of Alabama.

I got it in my pretty little hands. Much playing to ensue. Also picked up Sid Meier's Pirates for the Xbox, have no idea why but it looked fun and I'm a huge fan of the original.

To anyone who has NCAA 06 Xbox. Can you remap the buttons completely or is it multiple set configurations? Just asking because the PS2 to Xbox controller converter I uses maps L1-R1 to L2-R2 and vice versa and there's no way I can play an EA Sports game with that awful Xbox controller (whoever thought up the white and black button placement should never be allowed to design anything again).

Nice!

So, has anyone gotten this and played it yet? Any good at all?

I take it that the majority of players are going to be on the xbox?

Operation Sports has. (I link them since I give them a bit more credit than your standard IGNSpot review.)

The control scheme has been tweaked subtly, and it's now the first time that the NCAA series has felt at home on the Xbox controller. The "A" button is now the “sprint button across all phases of the game, including passing; where it allows easy scrambling by the QB without removing the ability to pass.

I hated having the sprints on different buttons in the Madden series. I had the games on PC before getting an Xbox; while you could manually arrange the buttons so that sprint was the same on both offense and defense, that would change the order of the buttons in the playcalling screen! ARGH!!!!

Nice to see they at least fixed this!

It is disappointing that this won't have a 'season' option on-line where you could have a 2k5-like league.

Yeah, it could actually turn out to be even more fun doing it on our own. Maybe we should have a poll to decide the ranking of the teams, heisman voting and a bowl selection committee! I think we could set it up so it will be rife with controversy!

Oh yeah and count me in for USC

However you want to do it, as long as LSU is the preseason #1 and our halfback is the frontrunner for the Heisman. Other than that I'm easy...

What, no DII love?? If I decide to pick it up, I choose Georgia Southern.

Pigpen in for Georgia Tech (where we actually have academic standards for our football players - AND - still can win national championships!)

(*sings*)I'm a rambling wreck from Georgia Tech a hellava Engineer. . .

That song usually follows with fists of fury at annoying Georgia fans. God I love the fall

Y'know, back in 1990 Penn State was good too.

Anyway, for those of you on the fence, AlwaysAwesomeReviews.com says 9.2, while Gamespot comments on a 8.8.

EDIT: Just found a copy online for $35. Thanks to Half.com I get it for cheap and EA doesn't see a penny of my money. Huzzah!

I picked mine up tonight. I'm stuck at work for a few more hours but if anyone's up for trying out the online action tonight I'll be on later, probably 10pm - 1am EST.

Man, when your school is an engineering school, you kinda have to have a long and good memory...lol...I'll take '90 though...and live with it for another 30 years if need be

How do you figure?

Ok I have updated the new choices. I will post a schedule of games shortly or if people have certain games they's like to play let me know. Matchups I see so far:

Miami v. Florida State
Georgia v. Florida
USC v. LSU (what should have been)
Alabama v. Ga. Southern

Still need to know who actually has the game. Heisman mode is very cool - my new Freshman QB was recruited to University of Miami and has the ugliest girlfriend on the planet, but I did have a nice piece of fan mail. Going to be a tough run against Leinart.
