GWJ Summer Football League started

Yeah I am not a fan of the dumbed down defense. As Firesloth will attest one play had 4 men just stand there as Jamal Lewis ran right by them - it was like they were huddled around a camp fire. The run game looks like it will be king since the receivers just stnad in place with the DB's - I think I had 3 complete passes i my game so if you have a big quick back - you win. Lewis, Taylor, and LaDanian as well as others who can get outside are good and backs like Taylor and Lewis who can get between the tackles and break them are dominant since it appears that tackling is turned off with EQ on.

Hey, that was because Frickin' Alan Ricard was in the middle of the four. They seemed to want to run to him to get blocked while Jamal ran around them.

Staley had a nice run of something like 60 yards when he went untouched through the line of scrimmage as well during that game, but at least there it looked like it could *conceivably* have been due to the Pittsburgh blocking design, not to the 1-on-4 blocking of Frickin' Alan Ricard.

When does week two start? Have all the game been played?

We have on more game to be played, and they will be playing Wed. night.

0-1 already with my Steelers, eh Spy?

Nope, that's that All Pro AI that everyone lov... er, requested.

Edit: Don't say I didn't warn you.

2a) All-Pro difficulty: While I personally fear that we've gotten too good to play at All-Pro difficulty (you think Jamal Lewis and Fred Taylor break tackles now? Just wait...), I am willing to listen to the popular concensus (forgive them Certis, they know not what they do). Just remember that what this effectively does is make the AI worse across the board (fire the game up, change difficulty settings in single-player and see what it does to the sliders) and so your DBs will get burned even more often and your linebackers will be even slower to plug the gaps. If thats what you guys want (hey, offensive shootouts are fun, right?), that's fine by me. Of course, your blockers may miss more assignments and you receivers may mess up their routes more often, too. I have no special insight into the AI programming. I am only willing to make this concession in conjuction with turning EQ on so that the superstars are a little less super.

Highlighting added for emphasis.

Let's play on Rookie settings

I still had a solid game against Grumpy so I'm sure the league will still be a good time. If I find running is too easy I'll still try to maintain a respectable pass/run ratio so things don't get too boring or annoying.

I suppose the biggest kick in the nuts is Neo was one of the biggest all-pro backers and he isn't even playing. Poor fella.

Look at the Week 1 scores. Only two teams scored more than 30 points, and those are my fault. Scoring is far from the "hey, offensive shootouts are fun, right?" that Grump's post said.

The DBs may act strange sometimes, but we have had 14 teams play their games and 24 passes have been intercepted. That's nearly 2 per QB (only 5 of the 15 QBs that played so far threw 0 INTs this week). No running back eclipsed 150 yards this week. We're not having any sort of unusual offensive explosion so far.

...and, but for a fumbled kick-off return that went my way for a TD, my game with Spy would have been 20-14. Jamal's longest run was 19 yds, but it was the stupidity that set it up that had Spy gnashing his teeth.

On a different topic, let's reach for the goal of making this season different - let's have people actually contribute to the league site. Make up some fake news about your games and post it in the news section. Come up with something good and make it a front-page story.

I'll bake cookies!

Warlock, can you play at 10p est tonight?

Says the author of a mere single Chalk Talk. Tease.

Hey! I'm also the only one that wrote anything on the damn league sites last time.

Chalk Talk's coming. I've got some contract work finishing and I'll be buying my video capture gear. I'm-a gunna git my Bill Walsh on.

I have a baseball game right at 10. I could go at anytime from now until then, or we could play right after, at like 11:15 EST. My body will hate me in the morning, but I'd like to advance the league. Don't want to piss Swampy off or anything.

Ill look for you around 11pm in the hopes youll finish a bit early. After that, its just a question of how long I can stay awake and be coherent.

I should tell you that I havent touched this game in 4 months but Ill give it my best shot, even if I am nodding off
